What next..?

The dog and pony show that has become what the Congress resembles much more than an august body of statesmen displayed the arrogance of Lairds over serfs yesterday. Certainly not all of them, but the majority did. It provided a crystal clear explanation of what happens when mob rule, also known as democracy, over takes and trounce’s a constitutional republic.

What next? Certainly the people will expect that legal challenges to the assault on freedom and liberty will take their course. I myself, having watched the Supreme Court duck and waver in many recent cases, if not flat-out ignore the Constitution have little faith in the third branch to do what is right and moral.

What we are left with then is send the abusers of power packing in November. Then repealing the entire monstrosity with a veto proof majority vote. That will be difficult to say the least. We will have to live with this at least for the time being.

Then, there is the bigger question. What was slipped in while no one was watching? Using what has become known as  “Lautenberging?” More ex post facto law? More sexist mysandry? More back door gun control? More sweetheart deals for those that were willing to sell their honor? Punishments for those that maintained their integrity? The devils are always in the details, and I would not put it past Pelosi, Schumer, Lautenberg and any number of aspiring despots to have slipped in things that are clearly beyond that which Congress is authorized to do.

Make no mistake friends, what happened yesterday was the shattering of the Bill of Rights, and the prelude to dismantling the Constitution in its entirety.

I would like to thank both of my Senators, Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, and our lone Representative Cynthia Lummis for standing firm, and not selling out the people of this nation, and honoring the oath that they took upon taking office.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Hat Tip to Brenda at http://brendabowers.wordpress.com for this as related commentary!

This from Great Britain is typical of newspaper reports from all over the world. Sadly the American newspapers are hailing this as a great victory for Progress. BB

It is also a great leap forward by the United States towards a European-style vision of universal health care, which will only lead to soaring costs, higher taxes, and a surge in red tape for small businesses. This reckless legislation dramatically expands the power of the state over the lives of individuals, and could not be further from the vision of America’s founding fathers. It has also been rushed through Congress without proper scrutiny, in the face of overwhelming public opposition, and with not an ounce of bipartisan support.

Above all the health care bill is a thinly disguised vanity project for a president who is committed to transforming the United States from the world’s most successful large-scale free enterprise economy, to a highly interventionist society with a massive role for centralized government. The United States has thrived as a nation for over 230 years precisely because of its love for freedom and its belief in free markets.

What we have just witnessed is a massive slap in the face for limited government and the principle of individual responsibility. Its net result will be the erosion of freedom in America, and a further undermining of the country’s economic competitiveness. This may be a political victory for the president and his supporters in Congress, but it is in reality a defeat for America as a great power, and another Obama-led step towards US decline.

One way or another Patrick this all breaks. Either we zombie out and lap it up or dig in for the long haul and do what must be done.

Well don’t get me wrong I don’t think it is an easy road but it is something we all need to be willing to travel.
Now enough metaphors. Somewhere between amending this beast and mining some good points to revolution there a re elections (2) court cases and even the outlier of a constitutional convention. I don’t see that last one but back to metaphors,we all have a lot of arrows in the collective quiver, now we just need to see if we have the stones to bow up.I’m there.

Our two lap dog Representatives here in Maine, Democrats both, slavishly followed the party line. Senators Snowe and Collins for once did not give in and support Obama and both voted against the bill proposed by the Senate.

At this point there is no way to evaluate exactly how much damage has been incurred with thousands of pages of the original bill and the additions of a flood of amendments in the House. It is doubtful that Obama’s promise that the bill will be “transparently” aired on the government website before it is signed, so many of the ill effects of this noxious disease will not be immediately recognized.

This is a dark day for our country. I can only hope that enough people will awaken to this attack against America by enemies from within to make a difference before our freedoms are lost forever. The dependent class is, of course, overjoyed and the supposedly educated are not smart enough to recognize the yoke that has been placed around their necks.

England may indeed be the mirror image for the United States in the years to come. Over three hundred years of freedom and we are headed right back from whence we came.

Well yes Maine, it does appear that way. Unless we “bow up” as Alfie said.

There are just way too many people that are fed up in this land right now. Depending, I hope, on the upcoming election cycle there could very well be outright warfare break out spontaneously across the country.

Blood bath at the polls for the Dems? Or bloodbath period? I think that is what it will comedown to.
