I’m Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen. I want to explain SB 1070 for which I voted yes. Rancher Robert Krentz was murdered by the drug cartel on his ranch a month ago. I participated in a senate hearing two weeks ago on the border violence, here is just some of the highlights from those who testified.
The people who live within 60 to 80 miles of the Arizona/Mexico Border have for years been terrorized and have pleaded for help to stop the daily invasion of humans who cross their property . One Rancher testified that 300 to 1200 people a DAY come across his ranch vandalizing his property, stealing his vehicles and property, cutting down his fences, and leaving trash. In the last two years he has found 17 dead bodies and two Koran bibles. Another rancher testified that daily drugs are brought across his ranch in a military operation. A point man with a machine gun goes in front, 1/2 mile behind are the guards fully armed, 1/2 mile behind them are the drugs, behind the drugs 1/2 mile are more guards. These people are violent and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. This was not the only rancher we heard that day that talked about the drug trains. One man told of two illegal’s who came upon his property one shot in the back and the other in the arm by the drug runners who had forced them to carry the drugs and then shot them. Daily they listen to gun fire during the night it is not safe to leave his family alone on the ranch and they can’t leave the ranch for fear of nothing being left when they come back.
The border patrol is not on the border. They have set up 60 miles away with check points that do nothing to stop the invasion. They are not allowed to use force in stopping anyone who is entering. They run around chasing them, if they get their hands on them then they can take them back across the border. Federal prisons have over 35% illegal’s and 20% of Arizona prisons are filled with illegal’s. In the last few years 80% of our law enforcement that have been killed or wounded have been by an illegal. The majority of people coming now are people we need to be worried about. The ranchers told us that they have seen a change in the people coming they are not just those who are looking for work and a better life.
The Federal Government has refused for years to do anything to help the border states . We have been over run and once they are here we have the burden of funding state services that they use. Education costs have been over a billion dollars. The healthcare cost billions of dollars. Our State is broke, $3.5 billion deficit and we have many serious decisions to make. One is that we do not have the money to care for any who are not here legally. It has to stop.
The border can be secured. We have the technology and we have the ability to stop this invasion. We must know who is coming and they must come in an organized manner legally so that we can assimilate them into our population and protect the sovereignty of our country. We are a nation of laws. We have a responsibility to protect our citizens and to protect the integrity of our country and the government which we live under. I would give amnesty today to many, but here is the problem, we dare not do this until the Border is secure. It will do no good to give them amnesty because thousands will come behind them and we will be over run to the point that there will no longer be the United States of America but a North American Union of open borders. I ask you what form of government will we live under? How long will it be before we will be just like Mexico , Canada or any of the other Central American or South American country? We have already lost our language, everything must be printed in Spanish. We have already lost our history, it is no longer taught in our schools, and we have lost our borders.
The leftist media has distorted what SB 1070 will do. It is not going to set up a Nazi Germany. Are you kidding? The ACLU and the leftist courts will do everything to protect those who are here illegally, but it was an effort to try and stop illegal’s from setting up businesses, and employment, and receiving state services and give the ability to local law enforcement when there is probable cause, like a traffic stop, to determine if they are here legally. Federal law is very clear, if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. In Arizona all you need to show you are a legal citizen is a driver license, MVD identification card, Native American Card, or a Military ID. This is what you need to vote or get a hunting license. So nothing new has been added to this law. No one is going to be stopped walking down the street. The Socialists who are in power in DC are angry because we dare try and do something.The Socialists wants us to just let them come. They want the “Transformation” to continue.
Maybe it is too late to save America . Maybe we are not worthy of freedom anymore. But as an elected official I must try to do what I can to protect our Constitutional Republic . Living in America is not a right just because you can walk across the border. Being an American is a responsibility and it comes by respecting and upholding the Constitution, the law of our land, which says what you must do to be a citizen of this country. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

For years I lived on the border in San Diego. I know first hand that the horror stories are true. I also know, from a friend who is an ICE agent, that they find things like Korans out there all the time.
We are playing with a land mine here and it is just a matter of time before our pandering politics come back to kill us. Perhaps in Times Square? BTW, as I have blogged in the past, both parties have sold out here. This dead horse belongs to Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan. It is nothing less than shameful. Arizona has every moral and constitutional right to do this…and more.

More power to Senator Sylvia Allen and to the stand that Arizona is taking. I wish that Texas would take a stand. It would be better if our government would take a stand to enforce treating illegals as illegals instead of giving them more than our hard working, Social Security paying, government taxed people. Thank you for all you are doing.

I personally want to thank you for taking a stand on immigration. It is sad indeed that our elected leaders are so power hungry they will ignore the dangers of open borders and illegal entry into the United States. I am sick of listening and watching our country being destroyed by this invasion. I am sorry that Mexico is so bad for the Mexicans that they feel the need to abandon their own country. They should stay and fight for what they want in their own country as Americans did over 200 years ago. I will encourage all other States to enact similar laws as Arizonia’s SB1070. Congratulations on standing up for what is right.

My heart-felt thanks to Senator Allen along with the brave men and women in Arizona taking an unpopular stand (at least with this administration) and doing what is long overdue. Why do we never hear about the dangers that those living near the borders face on a daily basis? We are not racists, we are not profilers, we are not prejudice. We just want to follow the laws. That includes becoming a citizen through legal channels. And, by the way, this is America. Let’s learn English and declare it the language of our nation.

I am an angelo that was raised in Phoenix and I learned to speak spanish as I grew up in the southern part of the city.
I am proud to say that I served in the military and spent 3 years in Germany.
Since I was in “their country”,,, I felt it only appropriate that I learned their language. I feel that all personnel should attempt to become part of the community.
I moved to California many years ago,,, as did a younger brother. When he married,
I took the two of them to Arizona to introduce her to the family. While spending a week in the Payson area,,, we were driving through town,,, when my sister-in-law let out a yell and exclaimed,,, “I knew that something was different here and I just realized what it is,,, none of the homes or buildings have bars on the windows or doors,,, like California does”
I explained that if a person in Payson saw an intruder entering a window,,, they were more apt to walk over and shoot the invader,,, and then ask,,, “may I help you”.
This is far fetched,,, but the people in Arizona are willing to watch out for their neighbors and follow up on any suspicous activity,,, in California,,, most people hide and say that the situation is none of their business,,, (mainly because they fear for their lives).
Our elected officials do not want to stop the flow of drugs,,, and I have to question why? Are individuals being paid to turn their backs,,, or worse,,, to promote the drug use? We say “Just Say No”,,, but the we have funding to rehab violators,,,(big bucks
involved in all aspects of the medical field),,, we have lawyers that plead “it is their
first offense”,,, or that “they came from a deprived childhood”,,,
Perhaps it is time for me to consider relocating to Arizona,,,

Senator- I commend you for your courage and decision that something has to be done!!! The govt. won’t help or they won’t get reelected…. I applaud your stand and I hope and pray this analysis of what needs to be done continues!!! Keep up the good work. If I lived in Arizona I’d vote for you.

for way too many years the politicians have ignored the problem of
illegal immigration, smuggling drugs and the violence that goes along
with it. Those that disagree with her should move to the border and see
how they like their families threatened every day!

While riding a bus in Mexico it was STOPPED by IMMIGRATION 4 times in 7 hours. Now not 1 stinking person on that bus whined that I was being harrassed and I smiled as I attempted to make sure I satisified any questions immigration might have as to my status. Why? Because I did not want to go to jail and because I believe I had satisified ALL the laws of their dearly loved country.
That is all I expect of others who come to MY country. Is it really asking that friging much? Why do we want to give all these rights to people who chose to break the law. And if we do not like the law then it needs to get changed.

I don’t see it. I don’t understand what the deal is? I, for the most part, stay out of trouble. I don’t get carded and don’t get stopped. I also don’t provoke people and don’t steal cars. I work hard and just want a better life.
If I was a farmer and someone was stealing my car, breaking into my house or threatening me? I’d shoot their freakin ass too. My boss’s great grand parents were immigrants and said they were proud to come to America and learned the language. Makes sense to me.

Just wanted to post a thought from Joplin Mo.I recently moved back from Dallas and San Antonio. The people, (all races) were nice. I’ve worked 3 and 4 week stints in Phx Arizona as well, and found ppl their hospitable as well. Having said that, I completely understand Ms. Allen’s reasoning behind this law. In our Union, we already currently have 42 states that require citizens carry I.D. Also, if anybody from another country wants to live here, they can become a citizen, learn our language,abide by our laws, etc. We are watching what the late Nikita Kruschev said suring the cold war, and I’ll paraprase: “The United States wil slowly implode by being to trustworthy. I applaud you MS. Allen for your guts and tenacity.

“Koran bible”??? It’s either the Koran or it’s the Bible: ignorance. This law will do nothing to quell the fears of the ranchers she’s trying to help. Senator, please do not use the slippery slope analogy with what we’ve “lost” and in the same breath ask us to not use the slippery slope analogy in the loss of civil liberties/fascist development. This message to the people, Senator, is irresponsible, hyped-up propaganda. The sensationalism in your message is on par with the sensationalism of the liberal media. Congratulations. I used to be a Republican until last year when I dissented and became a Libertarian: one who actually practices and supports Individual rights and freedoms. The Republican party’s core values and definition look good on paper, but they don’t follow up in practice. Too bad. All this is now, is political suicide. I guess this is what Arizona gets for having part-time legislators.

As far as the Libertarians and Republicans go? The republicans have consistently dropped the ball, and only time will tell if they can actually do what they say that they will. I left the Libertarian Party several years ago after being a member for twenty plus years. The “Party of Principle” went off the deep end.
