And people wonder why the Marine Corps is leery..?
The U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, retired three-star Army General Karl W. Eikenberry, reportedly made a comment about there being 41 nations serving in Afghanistan — and a 42nd composed of the Marine Corps. One unnamed Obama administration official was quoted by the Washington Post as saying, “We have better operational coherence with virtually all of our NATO allies than we have with the U.S. Marine Corps.”
Some officials call the new Marine enclave in Nimruz Province “Marinestan” — as if, out of a Kipling or Conrad novel, the Marines have gone rogue to set up their own independent province of operations.
Yet once again, it would be wise not to tamper with the independence of the Marine Corps., given that its methods of training, deployment, fighting, counterinsurgency and conventional warfare usually pay off in the end.

There is a principle called ‘Command by Negation’ that the USMC and other services employ. Its premise is that commanders in the field are best qualified to determine how to carry out a mission, and that they should be given free reign, within the law, to execute their orders.
It basically means, “Do whatever you have to do to accomplish the mission…unless we specifically tell you not to.”
Our nation has won almost every conflict it has been engaged in because, most of the time, our enemies cannot execute in a similar fashion. It provides us flexibility to adapt to changing events, unpredictability, and surprise while taking full advantage of the resourcefulness and intellect of the American Warfighter.
When, in the past, we have not executed under this principle (Vietnam comes to mind) – we have lost.
Let’s all hope that this time tested principle of command does not get set aside in the name of politics.

Can you say Strategic Science 100, not even 110? That is why, in virtually every one of our services Butter Bars are mentored by people with three up, and three down on their sleeves.
Viet Nam, was a clusterfu*k! From Kennedy to Nixon it was a “war” fought by American Warriors, but commanded by politicians! Sometimes down to squad levels! See here;

What is happening is, in a word? Pathetic! Navy Seals do their job, and what happens? Marines do their jobs and what happens? Rangers do their jobs and what happens?
Perhaps The School of the Americas needs to be reopened, and everyone above E4, and O1 should be required to attend, and pass the course…
Bunch of whining politically correct types would put a halt to that in a hurry is my guess. Perfumed Princes…

There are still lots of good, hardworking, professional people in the military doing a great job considering the roadblocks that have been thrown in their way. They deserve all of the support that we can give them.
The problem is the rot of political influence that has been allowed to infest the services and the lack of leadership from the civilian side of the equation. These days, good leaders are viewed with anxiety and suspicion by the CYA crowd. There is just too damned much legalese allowed in military operations these days and too many civilian lawyers with oversight authorization.
We still have the best military on the planet, despite the efforts by the political class and the whining special interest groups to screw it up. If Obama and his Marxist buddies are allowed to continue to undermine it in order to further their plans to weaken America …… well, we’ll see.

It most certainly does male one think Maine. I mean? Some time back obama authorized more, and wider spread actions by our Spec Ops. now, was that in order to further America’s goals and safety? or a set up so that they can be demonized?
