Charisma as a tool to tame the masses?

Charisma is a two edged sword to be sure. One thing about President Obama is his charismatic manner of speech. At least as long as there is a teleprompter or notes near at hand.

When I was still a sophomore in college I took a course in “Public Speaking” as I’m sure many of my readers also did. Having been a “Gavel Club” member and participant in High School I couldn’t help but note the differences that were taught in speaking methodology.

I certainly picked up on some of those things yesterday while listening to the new President. It was of course not laid out in debate format. But meant to be inspirational, especially to his followers. I was reminded of other inspirational speakers from the realm of politics, and religion for the most part.

Then today I wake up, and check the news. What sort of beast have we unleashed upon our nation? What sort of people put him there?

Obama IS a tool, of the left, and his words are an *opiate for the masses*…

The singer Usher, too, got into the act: I briefly heard him being interviewed on CNN or something: “The segregation that’s in this Nation every day.” What a guy! They say, on the one hand, America has come a long way, since Saint Barack is in, but then they also say that it’s still a racist nation. (The better to keep the victories coming.)

Hey, the Girl’s an Obama follower!! Or kinda. Only like when you say though, when there’s a teleprompter or notes on hand. He’s eloquent and articulate. She’s enraptured by his diction, can you tell? But that’s it though, because until he gets work done, anyone can talk. In any case, the Girl would love to hear your piece on why you worded the last paragraph the way you did. She’s really more interested in the “beast” part of it than anything else.

Please be prepared for an essay length-ish reply. You can skip it if you wish, really. But first, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

In response to your previous comment: The Girl really wonders where this guy got his ideas for his prediction. She thinks it’s interesting that it was predicted in 1998 – the same year Clinton got impeached. She wonders if that would have any sway in making that prediction. She wonders if the rest of the world thought we were fools to have done what we did, then. She really just wants to know what did he see to have come to such a conclusion.

Random side note though: She thinks it’d be interesting if he’d said back then (in 1998) that in 2008, we’ll have an African American man and a woman run for president, in addition to his current prediction of a “balkanized” America in 2010 – which do you think would have triggered a bigger reaction? [Hypothetical question – not sure you really want to answer that cause the Girl can reaalllly keep going.]

Well GIC, I personally know how that smiley thing can put a twist on you! Been there, and yes, done that! LOL! 😀

I wrote a piece about “American Balkanization” way back when on an old forum when those things were new, and actually started a book about it. Then lost all my work during a fire that happened in my complex. I think that it is happening right in front of our eyes.

As for the “beast” metaphor? I see Obama, in his first two days as tearing apart the fabric of American society and the Constitution. Hence, the use of the word “beast.” In an earlier post I used a phrase that Tony ( see above ) seemed to enjoy, and I think it is again fitting.

Liberty to try, and the freedom to fail. Obama, appears to be taking those things away from we the people.
