Robert E. Lee was an American Hero!
Robert E Lee was a great American, a truth that you will not hear much in today’s political climate. General Lee was married to George Washington’s great granddaughter. He worked closely with Grant during the Mexican-American war and became a decorated war hero defending this country. General Lee believed slavery was a great evil and his own wife even broke the law by teaching slaves to read and write. No, the Civil War was not about the right to own slaves.
General Lee was very torn about the prospect of the South leaving the Union. His wife’s great grandfather, George Washington, was a huge influence on him. He ultimately believed that, states’ rights trumped the federal government, (which, at that time legally, states’ rights actually did trump the federal government), and chose to lead the Confederate Army, out of a sense of loyalty to his home land, and was right to do so.
His estate, called Arlington, is near Washington DC. While General Lee was away fighting the war, the federal government demanded that Lee pay his taxes on Arlington, and pay them in person. He sent his wife to pay his taxes to the United States government, which he was at war with, but the Union, so concerned with people’s rights, refused to accept the tax money because it was delivered by a woman.
When the taxes “were not paid,” the Union government began burying dead Union soldiers on General Lee’s land, after wrongly confiscating the General’s personal property. Today, the government is still burying soldiers there. It is now called Arlington National Cemetery. I guess I should not have mentioned that. Now the left-wing Nazi party will want to destroy Arlington National Cemetery, since after all, it is a part of General Robert E. Lee’s estate.
After the civil war, General Lee worked with Andrew Johnson’s program of reconstruction. He was very popular with the Northern states, so much so, that the military barracks at West Point were named in his honor in 1962. General Lee was given this tremendous honor because he was such a respected American hero and a great general.
General Lee was a great man who served his country his entire life in one form or other. General Robert E. Lee portrayed the greatest character traits that any American could possibly aspire to. He served his country with his whole heart, his conscience faithfully, and lived a life of honor, respect, and character
But today, some misguided, left-wing loons are calling his memorials a disgrace and disgracefully desecrating them and demanding that they be taken down. No American military veteran should be treated with such disrespect! These actions by the elitist, Nazi-like Democrat party are a total disgrace. They are no better than book burnings, the Salem witch trials, or the actions of communists in every country that has had to endure the blight of communism.
The actions of these left-wing criminals have more in common with ISIS, Communism, and Nazism, than they do with American ideals. Just watch film of ISIS tearing down ancient statues and compare them with these domestic terrorist, otherwise known as ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter, and fully supported by the Democrat party.
Every true American should put an end to these disgraceful actions by any means necessary. It is time for REAL Americans to stand up against these domestic criminals who hate our country, what it truly stands for, and want nothing more than to destroy the United States as it is.
Remember what Edmond Burke taught us, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” The question is, “Are you just going to stand by and allow these domestic terrorists to continue to destroy our country’s history and desecrate our countries historical monuments, or will you stand up for your country, your ideals, and what’s right?” Bohdi Sanders ~ author of Men of the CODE
