Ron Micheli for governor endorsed by state sovereignty advocate

June 9, 2010

Ron Micheli has picked up the endorsement from former Sheriff Richard Mack a State Sovereignty Advocate.

This comes as most are starting to take notice of Micheli as a solid defender of State Sovereignty, specifically the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

According to a press release from the Micheli campaign-
“The reason I’m supporting Ron is that he understands the issues that really are pertinent to the state of Wyoming, and first and foremost is State sovereignty”

Freedom of Speech: epic fail obama HR 5175

June 9, 2010

HR 5175 Selectively Silences American Opinion

Fresh from his efforts to seize government control of the health services sector (ObamaCare) and the financial markets (“finance reform”), Barack Obama has a new priority:  silence his political opposition.

As satisfying as it was for Obama to seize control of one-sixth of the economy, he has had to suffer protest from the “little people” (like us).  So he is pushing the Orwellian “DISCLOSE” bill (HR 5175) to make sure gun groups and other pro-freedom forces cannot mobilize their members in the upcoming elections.

When Obama says “disclose,” what he really means is “disclose gun group membership lists”

Not surprisingly, these efforts to shut down free speech don’t apply to Obama allies, like Democratic-leaning labor unions.  They only apply to groups which are not reliable Obama allies, like Gun Owners of America.

But, for those groups whose free speech is targeted for Obama’s wrath under this bill, the consequences are severe:

* Under Title II of the bill, GOA (and other groups, as well as many bloggers) who merely mention public officials within 60 days of an election could be required to file onerous disclosures — potentially including their membership lists.

* Also under Title II, GOA could be required to spend as much as half of the time of a 30-second ad on government-written disclosures.

* In addition, Sections 201 through 203 would potentially put the government’s snooping eyes on any American who voices a political opinion, despite the fact that the Supreme Court, in Buckley v. Valeo, declared that Americans have a right to voice their opinion to an unlimited extent, if unconnected with a political campaign.

Here’s an idea:  If Obama is so irritated at the Supreme Court’s defense of political free speech by groups like GOA, why doesn’t he apply his sleazy new rules to his political allies, as well?

ACTION: Please urge your congressman to vote against the anti-gun HR 5175.  This bill has moved out of committee and has now been placed on the House calendar.

You can use the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm to send a pre-written message to your Representative.

—– Pre-written letter —–

Dear Representative:

I urge you to oppose HR 5175, a bill that will deny the free speech rights of all Americans.  Under Title II of this bill:

* Groups like Gun Owners of America (and other groups, as well as many bloggers) who merely mention public officials within 60 days of an election could be required to file onerous disclosures — potentially including their membership lists — even though the Supreme Court has previously ruled in NAACP v. Alabama that membership lists (like those of GOA’s) are off limits to government control.

* Also, groups like GOA and the NRA could be required to spend as much as half of the time of a 30-second ad on government-written disclosures.

Here’s an idea: If Obama is so irritated at the Supreme Court’s defense of political free speech by groups like GOA, why doesn’t he apply the new rules in HR 5175 to his political allies (like the labor unions), as well?

Suffice it to say, if you care anything about the First or Second Amendments, you will vote against HR 5175.  GOA will be scoring this vote on their rating of Congress.

Sincerely,

Mayor Daley: Poster Child for Hoplophobia

June 9, 2010

Mayor Richard Daley is almost as good at harming the gun control crowd’s agenda as the Gun Salesman of the year epic fail obama is. Every time he opens his mouth lately he says things that make the arguments of people such as myself so much easier to defend.

Read more about this HERE.

Keep it up Mayor! PLEASE!

The Arizona Immigration Law

June 9, 2010

There is another poll having to do with the not really controversial law passed recently in Arizona regarding illegal immigration.

Take the poll and see the results HERE.

Why do I say that it is in fact not really controversial? When the approval rate is as high as it is that shows a lack of controversy. In fact, the only controversy about it is brought to you by

The UN Small Arms Treaty

June 7, 2010

“Gun owners might not feel besieged right now, but they should be very concerned. [Recently] the Obama administration announced its support for the UN Small Arms Treaty. This treaty poses real risks for freedom and safety in the United States as well as the rest of the world. According to the U.N., guns used in armed conflicts cause 300,000 deaths worldwide every year. Their proposed solution is a simple one. Keep rebels from getting guns by requiring that countries ‘prevent, combat and eradicate’ what those countries define as ‘the illicit trade in small arms.’ The UN’s solution isn’t too surprising when one looks at the long list of notorious totalitarian regimes, such as Syria, Cuba, Rwanda, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and Sierra Leone, which support these ‘reforms.’ But not all insurgencies are ‘bad.’ To ban providing guns to rebels in totalitarian countries is like arguing that there is never anything such as a just war. … Political scientist Rudy Rummel estimates that 262 million people were murdered by their own government during the last century — that is 2.6 million per year. This includes genocide, the murder of people for political reasons, and mass murder. Even if all 300,000 deaths from armed conflicts can be blamed on the small arms trade, an obviously false claim, people have much more to worry about from their governments. … The Small Arms Treaty is just a back door way for the Obama administration trying to force through gun control regulations. With the huge standing ovation that House and Senate Democrats recently gave Mexican President Calderon for his advocacy of a new so-called ‘Assault Weapons Ban,’ Americans who care about self-defense have been put on notice.” –economist John Lott

For some reason this sounds a lot more credible than the NRA’s recent statements on the issue. Anyone else smell yet another sell out..?

Canadian Health Care Warning

June 6, 2010

Canada’s socialist health care system certainly served as a warning for those willing to heed it in the push to do similar mischief here in the U.S. Unfortunately, the voices of fiscal responsibility were drowned out by cries of “Hope ‘n’ Change.” The warning persists, however. Reuters headlined this week “Soaring costs force Canada to reassess health model.”

Reuters reports, “Pressured by an aging population and the need to rein in budget deficits, Canada’s provinces are taking tough measures to curb healthcare costs, a trend that could erode the principles of the popular state-funded system.” Despite the fact that the system is preferred by 82 percent of Canadians, “popular” must be taken with a grain of salt. Ask those who have been denied care, or those who languish on months- or years-long waiting lists for procedures routine in the U.S. (at least for now), or those who travel to the U.S. for the best care (as did Danny Williams, Premiere of Newfoundland and Labrador). Lives have been shortened and the quality of life has deteriorated under Canada’s “popular” system.

Furthermore, costs are exploding. Ontario estimates that in 12 years health care could consume 70 percent of its budget. Provinces now spend about 40 percent of their budgets on health care versus roughly 7 percent in the 1970s. It’s as if we Americans can see the future being played out before our eyes.

Sharron Angle The Best Choice For Nevada Gun Owners (And The Country)

The Nevada Republican primary race for the U.S. Senate continues to shift dramatically.

A brand new poll by the Suffolk University Political Research Center now shows pro-gun Sharon Angle, who is endorsed by Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund, in first place with 33 percent, followed by Danny Tarkanian at 26 percent and Sue Lowden at 25 percent.

The three are battling it out for the right to take on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in November.

Reid’s anti-Second Amendment antics are well known.  In the past year, he forced ObamaCare through the Senate, along with a slew of anti-gun Obama nominees.

But one of the Republican candidates is not without Second Amendment problems of his own.  Less than four years ago, when he ran for Secretary of State, Danny Tarkanian received a glowing endorsement from a leading anti-gun group.

“I’m asking you to vote for Danny Tarkanian,” said Sarah Brady, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, in a radio ad.  “He supports common sense gun laws like a ban on military-style assault weapons.”

Brady was referring to Tarkanian’s support of ban on many types of common semi-automatic rifles owned by millions of Americans.

Go to http://goapvf.org/brady-endorsement-of-tarkanian-in-2006.htm to view the Brady endorsement of Tarkanian.

The choice for gun owners and sportsmen in this election is clear.  GOA-PVF urges all pro-Second Amendment Nevadans to vote for Sharron Angle on Tuesday, June 8, and for supporters around the country to get behind to Angle campaign with contributions in these crucial final days of the election.

Please visit www.sharronangle.com today to make a donation to Sharron Angle’s effort to defeat Harry Reid.

Thanks again for supporting Sharron Angle for U.S. Senate.

Sincerely,

Moment of silence at 3:00 p.m.

May 31, 2010

Memorial Day is reserved by American Patriots as a day to honor the service and sacrifice of fallen men and women who donned our Armed Forces uniforms with honor. We at The Patriot Post pay our humble respects to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice as members of the United States Armed Forces. We will remember you always.

Accordingly, this tribute is in honor of our fallen American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen.

Please join Patriots honoring Memorial Day across our great nation on Monday by observing a moment of silence at 3:00 p.m. local time for remembrance and prayer. Flags should be flown at half-staff until noon, your local time. Please give a personal word of gratitude and comfort to surviving family members who grieve for a beloved warrior fallen the battlefield defending our cherished liberties.

(Also, see The Patriot’s tribute to our Armed Forces.)

“At the grave of a hero we end, not with sorrow at the inevitable loss, but with the contagion of his courage; and with a kind of desperate joy we go back to the fight.” –Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes (1841-1935)

“At countless funerals and memorial services for those who lost their lives in the service of our country, I hear the question, ‘Why is such a good young person taken from us in the prime of life?’ Plato, the Greek philosopher, apparently sought to resolve the issue by observing, ‘Only the dead have seen the end of war.’ I prefer to take my solace in the words of Jesus to the Apostle John: ‘Father, I will that those you have given me, be with me where I am.’ … Those now in uniform deserve our thanks, for no nation has ever had a better military force than the one we have today. And no accolade to those presently in our country’s service is greater than honoring the veterans who preceded them on Memorial Day.” —Lt. Col. Oliver North, ret.

“Be sure this Memorial Day … you are a part of those Americans asking God to bless the heroes we remember who never really set out to be heroes. As the kin of a fallen soldier once proclaimed, ‘Each loved his life as much as we love ours. Each had a place in the world, a family waiting and friends to see again. They thought of the future just as we do, with plans and hopes for a long life. But they left it all behind when they went to war, and parted with it forever when they died so that you and I might enjoy freedom today.’ On this Memorial day set aside time from celebrating summer for you, your family and friends to honor and remember those who have given their lives for you because as Robert Orr so beautifully said, ‘To live in the hearts of those you leave behind is never to die.’ Frankly speaking, saluting their memory is our duty, and on this day, it is our privilege. The time is now to show we care and to honor their sacrifice not only this Memorial Day, but every day. Honoring our military heroes assures their memory does indeed live in our hearts and thus, these heroes will in the name of freedom never die.” –columnist Frank Jordan

Speaking with a forked tounge: NRA

May 30, 2010

Well, first, the NRA sent out an alert that basically said that there is nothing to the threat of a U.N. Small Arms Treaty. Then, from the NRA ILA we get the second story…

SOURCE

Friday, May 28, 2010
We continue to receive numerous inquiries regarding UN international treaties, and their impact on our Second Amendment rights.  The latest rumor making its way around the Internet claims that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton actually signed a UN small arms treaty.

Contrary to this widely circulated e-mail, Hillary Clinton has not signed any small arms treaty.  She could not have done so, in fact, because no such treaty has yet been negotiated.

As we noted in an update from last November, the UN Arms Trade Treaty will be drafted between now and 2012, and even if signed, would not take effect in the U.S. until it was ratified by the Senate.

Please rest assured that, as we said in November, NRA will be actively involved in this process and will oppose any treaty that would attempt to impose limits on our Second Amendment rights.  In the meantime, we urge gun owners to follow this issue in NRA’s magazines and NRA-ILA’s Grassroots Alerts.  We also urge gun owners not to circulate misinformation on this issue.

But then?

American gun owners might not feel besieged, but they should. This week, the Obama administration announced its support for the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. This international agreement poses real risks for freedom both in the United States and around the world by making it more difficult if not outright illegal for law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms.

Don’t trust the free market: Epic fail obama

May 29, 2010

Obama’s autocratic tendencies become more obvious each day. Dr. Donald Berwick, nominated by Barack Obama to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is “romantic about” Britain’s socialized National Health System (NHS). In July 2008 he wrote an article published in the British Medical Journal, comparing the U.S. health care system unfavorably to the British system, and giving a list of 10 suggestions to the NHS. The first was this:

Please don’t put your faith in market forces [emphasis in original]. It’s a popular idea: that Adam Smith’s invisible hand would do a better job of designing care than leaders with plans can. I find little evidence that market forces relying on consumers choosing among an array of products, with competitors fighting it out, leads to the healthcare system you want and need. In the U.S., competition is a major reason for our duplicative, supply driven, fragmented care system.”

In case Berwick hasn’t seen the reports on the NHS since the publication of his article, it’s deep in debt and delivering substandard service, with new critical reports published almost daily. Adam Smith’s invisible hand gave the U.S. the best medical care in the world. The people know this, which is why the vast majority reject ObamaCare, the American NHS wannabe.

Nevertheless, the administration wants to cram ObamaCare down our throats. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius asked a federal judge to dismiss Virginia’s lawsuit alleging Congress overstepped its constitutional bounds with the new health care “reform” law by requiring people to buy health coverage or pay a fee. In making her motion, Sebelius argued Congress “acted well within its authority under the Commerce Clause.” This argument has been used ever since the Warren Court to continually expand the powers of the federal government into areas never intended by the Framers. Let’s hope that this is expeditiously decided in favor of original intent. Cases such as this demonstrate why we need an independent, co-equal judiciary, instead of one that will rubber stamp decisions of an autocratic executive and a complicit legislature.
