Is this gun-grabber the future of the Republican Party? Just say no redux…

August 16, 2013

Modified letter from NAGR, if only the NRA had balls like this!

If you agree, I’m counting on you to sign an open letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus urging him NOT to advance Governor Christie as the future of the GOP.

You see, Governor Christie’s long support for gun control is no secret. In fact, in campaign materials, he attacked pro-gun opponents for opposing so-called “assault weapons bans!”

And just last week, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey signed MANY new gun control measures into law!

To add insult to injury, he even bragged about his state’s draconian firearm restrictions, saying his new gun control schemes would worsen “New Jersey’s already tough gun laws.”

The new bills Governor Christie signed into law last Thursday include:

*** A bill to strip law-abiding residents of New Jersey of their Second Amendment rights if the government bureaucrats ever label them “terrorists.”

After the Department of Homeland Security issued warnings about men and women with the “wrong” Presidential candidate’s bumper sticker on their car possibly being “domestic terrorists,” you and I can be sure this power will be abused;

*** A “turn-em-in” bill to coerce otherwise law-abiding New Jersey residents to destroy or surrender certain firearms to the state within 180 days or get stuck with stiff penalties;

*** An “anti-gun trafficking” bill, which would treat ordinary gun sellers like criminals, terrorists, and gang members for minor oversights.

Under this legislation, not only would you be arrested, and have your firearms confiscated for minor infractions, the government of New Jersey could even seize your car!

The gun-grabbers and their anti-gun national media can hardly get enough of Christie’s attacks on guns and pro-gun members of his own Republican Party!

In fact, the anti-gun left-wing website, The Nation, ran a headline asking, “Can Chris Christie Change the Gun Control Debate?”1

Mentioning a possible future presidential run for the governor, The Nation wrote:

“[Governor Christie] will have little choice but to defend those [gun control] bills during the 2016 Republican primaries. Perhaps that will allow a forceful — and with Christie, one would expect no less — defense of sensible gun control on the national stage, and one directed at his own party.”

After eight years of President Obama’s madness, what a slap in the face this would be!

Worse, if nominated, gun-grabbers will know they’ll have someone they can “work with” in the White House regardless of who wins in November of 2016.

Can you possibly imagine a better political scenario for gun-grabbers like Sarah Brady and radical anti-freedom New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg?

But, Patrick, as Chairman of the Republican National Committee, it could be very tempting for Chairman Priebus to start pushing and praising Governor Christie as the “future of the GOP.”

After all, when else does the anti-gun national media “ooh” and “ah” about a fellow Republican?

If all Republicans have to do is ignore their pro-Second Amendment party platform plank to get praised, why not just do it?

Why not just start asking for Republican candidates all over the country to start “easing up” on their defense of the Second Amendment?

Patrick, that’s why I’m asking you to sign the open letter to Chairman Priebus IMMEDIATELY.

Please don’t delay.

And if you could, please agree to a generous contribution, as well.

Even if all you can do is chip in $10 or $20, it will help me send the message to GOP Chairman Reince Priebus that you and I are serious about protecting our Second Amendment rights.

But most importantly, please sign the open letter to Chairman Priebus at once.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President

P.S. Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey just signed many new gun control bills into law and bragged about it!

Is this the future of the Republican Party?

With all the national media attention Governor Christie is getting, it could be very easy for Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus to start promoting Chris Christie as the future of the GOP.

You and I can’t let that happen.

If you agree, please sign the open letter to RNC Chairman Priebus and agree to your most generous contribution — even if it’s just $10 or $20 — TODAY!

Gutting our Second Amendment rights: epic fail obama

January 17, 2013

Modified from an email.

Earlier today, President Obama and his anti-gun pals unveiled their plans to GUT our Second Amendment rights.

The list of new schemes goes on seemingly forever, but the most outrageous are exactly what I’ve been fearing . . .

The gun-grabbers are going for broke, including:

*** RAMMING into law the new Feinstein Gun Ban, and banning magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

Far more draconian than the earlier ban, the new Feinstein Gun Ban and the Magazine Ban demonizes guns for looking “scary” and targets rifles, shotguns and even handguns.

These new bans are NOT likely to include grandfather clauses, and they might even go for out-right confiscation.

*** FORCING through Congress a new national gun registration scheme under the guise of “background checks.”

There’s simply no way to enforce a ban on private transfers without government bureaucrats knowing exactly who owns what weapons.

*** A new “mental health” denial system using “ObamaCare’s” nationalized healthcare system to begin snooping on gun owners.

One Surgeon General estimated 46.4% of Americans will have mental health issues at some point in their lives!

So make no mistake, this is designed EXPLICITLY to allow the federal government to strip ANY law-abiding citizen they want — including military veterans — of their Second Amendment rights on a whim.

In fact, the so-called “mental health” and the “background check” national gun registration system may be where this fight is headed . . .

More than even an outright ban on certain types of firearms, nothing gets anti-gun activists like Sarah Brady more excited than the ability to demonize certain gun features and register and trace guns and gun owners.

That’s because she and her antigun pals — like New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg — understand these are the first steps toward outright gun confiscation in America.

They’re putting up smoke and mirrors to throw American citizens off track.

But registration, bans and ultimately confiscation are really what President Obama’s “mental health” initiative and his so-called “background check” national gun registration schemes are all about.

So if you want to protect your gun rights, you and I are going to have to be ready for anything.

Please TAKE ACTION NOW and call your Congressman and Senators at 202-224-3121 and demand they oppose Obama’s gun control agenda at every opportunity.

Dudley Brown

Begging for Bucks

Democrats in Washington: Get shot in the back as you try to be a Rabbit!

May 19, 2012

Democrats in Washington are launching an all-out war to destroy state self-defense laws.

A newly-floated Democrat amendment would threaten to cut off crime prevention grants to any state with a Stand Your Ground law on the books, forcing states to eliminate the law in order to receive the grant.

These rabid anti-gunners are demanding that states put the law on the side of armed criminals, or else!

Will you take action right now to oppose the destruction of Stand Your Ground self-defense laws by filling out your Stand Your Ground Citizen Survey below?

After the Trayvon Martin incident in Florida, the gun-grabbers and their pals in the press are working feverishly to whip up anti-gun hysteria nationwide.

Their goal is to DESTROY our right of self-defense by gutting or repealing Stand Your Ground Laws wherever they’re found and pass a host of new anti-gun initiatives.

The bad news is, without your IMMEDIATE help, I’m afraid they may succeed.

Stand Your Ground Laws simply state that law-abiding gun owners do not have a “duty to retreat” and cannot be prosecuted for defending themselves against criminal attack.

Do you really want to be second-guessing yourself if an armed thug is attacking you or a loved one?

Well, in states without Stand your Ground, being targeted by an anti-gun prosecutor is almost as dangerous as being attacked by a criminal.

After all, there’s nothing prosecutors with big egos and bigger political ambitions love more than to say they’re “tough on gun crime.”

So they look for every opportunity to nail law-abiding gun owners to the wall and crow as if they’ve just locked away a few Bloods’ and Crips’ gang bangers for good!

Worse, even if the armed citizen is found innocent, it can be virtually meaningless.

That’s why it’s vital you fill out the Stand Your Ground Citizen Survey below — RIGHT NOW!

In a recent tragic case in Iowa — which has no Stand Your Ground Law — a black former law enforcement officer and security guard, Jay Rodney Lewis, was thrown in jail for 112 days after defending himself against two white attackers.

One of the thugs was a drunken convicted felon with over 40 criminal charges going back 15 years!

Mr. Lewis was finally found innocent of all charges.

But during the time he was imprisoned, he lost his home, his car, his firearms collection and nearly everything else.

So where were the outraged headlines about this story?

Why didn’t the national media — so desperate to play the race card — ever report on this tragedy?

You and I both know the reason.

Guns are used an estimated 2.5 MILLION times per year by law-abiding citizens to deter crime, but there’s literally NEVER a mention about that fact in the press.

Instead, the gun-grabbers lay and wait with baited breath for a story where they can twist the facts to SMEAR our country’s “gun culture” and complain that we’re not more like Europe where victims are disarmed and criminals can roam free.

Now, the gun-grabbers and the national press are deriding Florida as the “Gunshine State” for daring to protect law-abiding gun owners’ rights to self-defense!

Worse, their scheme is working.

Florida’s Republican Governor, Rick Scott, has announced he’d be willing to “to look at any laws that made citizens feel uncomfortable.”

And sadly, Governor Scott isn’t the only Republican nationwide who suddenly went spineless.

In fact, I’m afraid if Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law falls, it could create a domino effect all over the country.

Not only could we see these critical laws repealed, but it could embolden anti-gun politicians to ram through even more new gun control schemes at the state level, including:

*** Psychological “screening” and “proof of need” requirements designed to arbitrarily allow government officials to deny law-abiding citizens before they can obtain a concealed-carry permit;

*** “Permit to purchase” requiring gun owners to go through an extensive training and permitting process just to be able to buy a handgun;

*** So-called “Assault Weapons” Bans designed to ELIMINATE gun ownership of all semi-automatic rifles and shotguns — even those commonly used for hunting.

As fights begin to heat up throughout the country, my goal is to deliver surveys to key legislators and Governors to prove that it’s you and me who truly have the backing of the grassroots.

The gun-grabbers can yell and scream all they want. But at the end of the day, they’re a paper tiger.

If I can run a full-scale program, they simply won’t be able to match our grassroots muscle.

But without a program like this, the only noise politicians will hear will be coming from the anti-gun media.

And THAT is a recipe for disaster.

For Freedom,

Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President

P.S. The Trayvon Martin incident in Florida has given the gun-grabbers a new crusade — and that’s to REPEAL Stand Your Ground Laws and a host of other anti-gun initiatives.

It’s up to you and me to FIGHT BACK.

Help the Cause!

“Vast left-wing conspiracy”

April 14, 2012

Interesting piece from an email.

Remember back in the 1990s when Hillary accused conservatives of being a part of a “vast right-wing conspiracy”?

Well, her left-wing co-conspirators are back at again, this time, placing blame directly on you and me — gun rights activists.

As you have probably heard in recent days, “Stand Your Ground Laws” have been under attack across the nation.

Left-wing anti-gunners are on the prowl day and night seeking to slash and burn pro-gun laws in dozens of states.

For example, gun-grabbers have put so much pressure on Republican Governor Rick Scott of Florida that he wilted to the heat and established a commission that will surely recommend shredding “Stand Your Ground” in Florida.

So much for Rick Scott’s so-called “pro-gun” credentials.

But this “pressure” isn’t just coming from the usual suspects — billionaires Michael Bloomberg and George Soros, and Hillary Clinton — it’s coming from all directions, including from Big Labor bosses.

Put simply, Big Labor’s forced-union dues are a major driving force in this assault on our gun rights.

In a recent interview, AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Arlene Holt Baker placed the “blame” for pro-gun laws on (you guessed it) . . .

. . . “conservative, right-wing policies.

Of course, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise, considering the AFL-CIO is in the tank for anti-gun President Barack Obama and every other gun-grabber running for office.

The AFL-CIO’s Baker went on to say that “stand your ground legislation passed in Florida and . . . in a number of other states” was the work of a coalition of pro-gun legislators and groups from around the country.

If you want to watch the entire sickening video, please click on the image below. To save you some time, the highlights are at these marks: 0:20, 1:32, 1:50, 2:15 and 3:25.

You know as well as I do that YOU are responsible for passage of pro-gun legislation — calls, emails, faxes, petitions and post cards.

But these words should certainly be a wake-up call to ALL gun rights activists — there is another billionaire on the block who wants to destroy your gun rights — it’s name is Big Labor.

While none of this information is new to me (and it may not be new to you), you should know that Big Labor spends more than one billion dollars every election cycle to defeat pro-gun candidates for state legislature and Congress.

If a “conspiracy” truly does exist in American politics today, it’s not a “vast right-wing” one, it’s on the left.

You and I are at a very dangerous point in the fight to protect our gun rights.

With at least one Republican Governor (Florida’s Rick Scott) abandoning any pro-gun principles he may have had in regards to “Stand Your Ground,” there is no telling what gun-grab template this “vast left-wing conspiracy” is crafting at the moment.

If that template is successful in a pro-gun state like Florida, it could be coming to a state capitol near you sooner than you think . . .

. . . with billions of dollars to back it up.

It’s imperative that you stay viglante in the fight to defend our gun rights.

I will do everything in my power to keep you alerted.

Please take action if I ask you to do so in the future.

Constitutional Carry update: Republicans are pro gun..?

March 17, 2012

Constitutional Carry is the basic principle that if you are legally eligible to purchase a firearm, you should be able to carry that weapon, concealed, for self-defense without government permission.

Passage of Constitutional Carry does not abolish existing permit systems, or their corresponding reciprocity agreements. It merely provides law-abiding citizens with an alternative avenue for armed self-defense.

Passing Constitutional Carry in state legislatures across the country is a key goal of the National Association for Gun Rights’ State Legislative program. The National Association for Gun Rights’ activists successfully passed Constitutional Carry in Wyoming in 2011.

Constitutional Carry is law in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming.

  • Colorado: Two Constitutional Carry bills have been introduced, one in each chamber. SB-25 (Neville) has been procedurally killed in committee. HB-1092 (Priola) was on third reading but they sent it back to Judiciary to clear up a language dispute.
  • Georgia: HB-679 (Spencer) is in Public Safety & Homeland Security. It was heard on February 13th, but the committee’s chair, Republican Ann Purcell, refused to allow an up or down vote. Georgia’s important “crossover” deadline has since passed, but there is still time to add it as an amendment to another gun bill.
  • Iowa: Working with our ally Iowa Gun Owners, two Constitutional Carry bills have been introduced in Iowa (HF-291 and HF-2113). They are in the Public Safety Committee. Again, Republican leadership has blocked the vote in effort to quietly kill both bills, but pressure to revisit this legislation is mounting.
  • Kentucky: HB 280 (Harmon) is in the House Judiciary Committee.
  • New Hampshire: Working with our ally New Hampshire Firearms Coalition (NHFC), HB-536 (Hoell) passed the House and received a favorable hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is the second year in a row that it has passed. However, anti-gun Republican leadership is trying to kill it behind the scenes. NAGR and NHFC have worked hard to expose the anti-gun backroom dealings.
  • Maine: Two 2011-12 bills were killed by leadership.
  • Mississippi: HB 596 (Formby) was introduced this past month; however it contains some bad language that needs to be amended out.
  • Montana: In 2011, NRA “A-Rated” rated Governor Brian Schweitzer vetoed Constitutional Carry. Montana does not hold a legislative session in 2012. NAGR is continuing to work in Montana to see that this becomes the standard in all areas of the state next year.
  • Ohio: HB 256 (Adams) is the 2011-12 bill. It is in the State Government & Elections committee.
  • Oklahoma: There are dozens of gun bills floating around the capitol this year. While most of have an emphasis on open carry, one proposed floor amendment from last March (FA-7 by Derby) to HB-1796 (Tibbs) came close to doing away with the permit requirement.
  • Rhode Island: S 2133 (Picard) is in Senate Judiciary.
  • South Carolina: The concept was introduced earlier in the 2011-12 session, but didn’t make it far before the anti-gunners stalled it and watered it down. NAGR members in the Palmetto state are working to get a recorded vote on Constitutional Carry in the South Carolina Legislature.
  • South Dakota: NRA “A-Rated” Republican leadership violated the state constitution to prevent HB 1015 (Kopp) from receiving a floor vote. They substituted it with language that at best still requires a permit in the form of your driver’s license and still mandates ALL the requirements including a background check. South Dakota Gun Owners and NAGR will continue to work toward a real Constitutional Carry law in the future.
  • Tennessee: Several Constitutional Carry bills have been introduced in the last two years including SB 397, which awaits a hearing in the Judiciary Committee. On February 2, companion legislation was introduced in the Tennessee State House — HB 3818.
  • Virginia: HB 139 by Delegate Cole was left in committee after crossover without being continued. Cole was unwilling to respond to the demands of NAGR members to file a discharge petition to bring Constitutional Carry to the House floor. NAGR will be working with our allies on the ground in Virginia to find a more courageous sponsor to bring this to the floor going forward.
  • Wisconsin: Last year, Wisconsin became the 49th state to recognize concealed carry in SB 93 (Galloway). The bill originally began as a Constitutional Carry bill.
  • Elsewhere: 2011-12 Constitutional Carry bills were considered in Nevada, Idaho, Indiana, Oregon, Utah, and West Virginia. However, those initiatives failed to become law.

This brings the total to 26 states that have, are considering, or have considered Constitutional Carry during this legislative cycle.

“Constitutional Carry” (SB 25) for Colorado

January 19, 2012
State Senator Tim Neville, R-Littleton, has agreed to sponsor “Constitutional Carry” (SB 25) as his first bill in the 2012 Colorado state legislative session. What happens next is up to RMGO supporters like you.

If you haven’t done so already, please sign the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners petition in support of Constitutional Carry. Then, please forward this message to friends, family, and other like-minded citizens and ask them to sign the petition as well.

With the start of the 2012 session just days away it’s absolutely vital we turn up the heat on every member of the state legislature.

As you may know, this critical legislation will ensure honest gun owners their constitutional right to carry a concealed handgun without having to fight through the expensive government red tape of the permit process.

But will your State Senator and Representative stand up for your second amendment rights? Or will they bow down to the radical anti-gun lobby?

You see, with a liberal majority in the Colorado State Senate getting this bill out of committee won’t be an easy task.

That’s why Rocky Mountain Gun Owners is unveiling an ambitious program to promote Constitutional Carry in 2012.

With nearly 20 years in the fight to preserve our right to keep and bear arms at both the state and federal level, I will be the first to tell you, I can’t do this alone.

It takes patriots like you to continue the fight to allow every honest gun owner the ability to protect him or herself at all times.

This is why I’m asking you to stand up for our Second Amendment rights and sign the RMGO Constitutional Carry Petition.

Your signature will help us in the first part of our plan to collect at least 20,000 signed petitions to deliver to your State Senators and Representatives demanding that they support the Constitutional Carry bill.

Then, in a few weeks, we will introduce our candidate pledge; demanding that each and every member of the General Assembly — and every candidate — pledge to support Constitutional Carry in Colorado.

After you’ve signed RMGO’s Constitutional Carry Petition, please forward this message to as many Second Amendment supporters as possible, and encourage them to sign the petition, too!

And if you can, please consider chipping in $15 or $20.

Your generous contribution will help us really turn up the heat — through letters, phone calls, emails and internet ads . . .

. . . And if funding permits, RMGO will launch hard-hitting newspaper, radio and TV ads urging specific elected officials, by name, to vote to pass Constitutional Carry in Colorado.

You and I both know the gun grabbers and their leftist allies in the state legislature will pull every dirty trick.

Please do not delay signing the petition, and if you can please consider chipping in $15 or $20 to help RMGO fight to pass Constitutional Carry in Colorado.

Of course, if you can and want to contribute more, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners will be careful stewards of your trust.

As always, thank you for your support in the fight to preserve our Second Amendment Rights.

Only together can we do what can’t be done alone.

For freedom,

Dudley Brown
Executive Director, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners

P.S. State Senator Tim Neville is introducing Constitutional Carry in the 2012 Colorado state legislative session.

This critical legislation will ensure honest gun owners their constitutional right to carry a concealed handgun without having to fight through the expensive government red tape of the permit process.

Newts, political witchery and such…

November 22, 2011

From an email I received, and it is on target, no adjustments needed!

I know I don’t have to tell you, but politicians often say one thing but do the complete opposite — especially if they think no one is looking.

Newt Gingrich is the poster child for these sort of “flexible” principles.

I’ve been around the block a few times (I’m about to start my 20th year as a gun rights lobbyist) and dealt with literally thousands of candidates and politicians, but no Republican politician has managed to support and vote for anti-gun legislation and still proclaim that he is “pro-gun” more effectively than Newt Gingrich.

Don’t be fooled by his rise in the polls; Newt Gingrich has a long history of supporting gun control …

… and he has blatantly refused to return his National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Survey.

With more than three decades as a public figure, Newt is the quintessential political chameleon, shifting his views to reflect whatever is popular with the Washington, D.C. chattering class.

Make no mistake, while Newt may talk a solid conservative game, his record is that of a typical Inside-the-Beltway politician who will cut ANY compromise or make ANY deal with anyone for his own political or personal gain.

While Newt used the institutional gun lobby as a mouthpiece to convince millions of gun owners nationwide that “as long as he is Speaker, no gun-control legislation is going to move in committee or on the House floor,” he was working behind the scenes to pass gun control.

In 1996, Newt Gingrich turned his back on guns and voted for the anti-gun Brady Campaign’s Lautenberg Gun Ban, which strips the Second Amendment rights of citizens involved in misdemeanor domestic violence charges or temporary protection orders –- in some cases for actions as minor as spanking a child or grabbing a spouse’s wrist.(1)

Gingrich even called the anti-gun measure “reasonable,” and predicted that it would sail through his Republican-controlled House of Representatives with little trouble.(2)

The Lautenberg Gun Ban is one of the Congressional Republicans’ worst betrayals of gun owners, and those complicit in its passage deserve nothing but contempt from gun owners.

This gun control measure ranks right up there with the Brady Registration Act as the most aggressive gun control in America, denying hundreds of thousands of would-be gun owners the right to self defense.

Gingrich also stood shoulder to shoulder with Nancy Pelosi to pass the “Criminal Safezones Act” which prevents armed citizens from defending themselves in certain arbitrary locations. You and I both know that Criminal Safezones don’t protect law-abiding citizens, but actually protect the criminals who ignore them.(3)

As you can see, Newt Gingrich is no friend of gun owners, or small government conservatives. He simply can’t be trusted, and his record reflects his contempt not only for the truth, but his own integrity and the integrity of the very people he’s asking to vote for him to be the most powerful man in the modern world.

This is the same man who railed against the Obama bailouts of Fannie and Freddie Mac while receiving more than $1.5 million from Fannie Mae as a “consultant”(4) while his firm also raised $37 million to pass healthcare insurance mandates.(5)

He’s also the same man who sat next to Nancy Pelosi and insisted global warming was a man-made problem in need of a government-mandated solution. Now that he’s running for the Republican nomination, he doesn’t believe in global warming and calls the TV ad he did with Pelosi “inexplicable.” Please click here to watch the video.(6)

I’m concerned, though, that Newt’s snake-oil act is catching on.

It’s time for gun owners and liberty-minded, small government activists to hold Newt’s feet to the fire.

That’s why I need you to call the Gingrich campaign headquarters right now at (678) 973-2306. Demand that Newt Gingrich apologize for his past support of gun control, and make a dramatic turnaround statement of support to repeal the gun controls he’s supported.

Tell his campaign that you expect Newt to not only apologize for his past support of anti-gun measures but also to reveal where he stands on international gun grabs like the UN “Small Arms Treaty” and domestic anti-gun schemes like the banning of .50 caliber rifles.

Demand he quit stonewalling gun owners and return his National Association for Gun Rights Presidential Survey — at once. You and I both know that election season, when they’re begging for the votes of gun owners, is one of the best times to lobby candidates and politicians.

With Republican presidential primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina mere weeks away, it’s vital that gun owners know where the Republican candidates for President stand on important Second Amendment issues.

Newt’s record is as crooked as a dog’s hind leg. With a horrible voting record on Second Amendment issues, gun owners just don’t know which side Newt’s on.

Please call the Gingrich campaign headquarters right now at (678) 973-2306. Demand that Newt Gingrich apologize for his past support of gun control.

For Freedom,

P.S. Newt Gingrich’s anti-gun record is too important — and dangerous — to ignore. That’s why I felt compelled to inform you.

His support for numerous gun controls is in direct contradiction to his current campaign statements.

Call the Gingrich campaign headquarters right now at (678) 973-2306. Demand that Newt Gingrich apologize for his past support of gun control.

The National Association for Gun Rights is working day and night to keep gun owners like you up-to-date on the presidential candidates’ records — please consider contributing to the effort by chipping in $15 or $20.
