Army Rangers, Navy Seals do their jobs and ..?

Department of Military Correctness: Friendly Fire

As Christmas approaches, the Obama regime’s assault on our own warriors continues. As detailed previously, court-martial preparations continue for three U.S. Navy SEALs accused of mistreating a captured jihadi. But another case of political correctness gone wild recently came to light — that of Army Ranger 1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna, who is now serving a 20-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth. Lieutenant Behenna was found guilty by a court-martial of unpremeditated murder in the shooting death of a jihadi named Ali Mansur, despite the fact that an expert prosecution witness had evidence that backed up Behenna’s claim of self defense. The expert, Dr. Herbert MacDonell, a specialist in blood stain forensics, was flown in by the Army prosecutors to testify in the case, though it appears that in order to get a conviction, the Army prosecutors did not call on Dr. MacDonell to testify because his evidence did not support their case.

Thankfully, in both cases, some spine is finally starting to show among our leaders. In Congress, 40 members led by Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN) sent a letter to Army Major General Charles Cleveland, commander of Special Operation Command Central and the man who ordered the SEALs’ court-martial, calling on him to dismiss the charges and exonerate the SEALs. Scandalously, but not surprisingly, the letter was signed only by Republicans, few though there were. And in Lt. Behenna’s case, an e-mail from Dr. MacDonell explaining his testimony surfaced. A clemency hearing for Behenna is set for Jan. 7 in Arlington, Virginia. May justice be done.

Milblogs Go Silent For CJ

Photobucket

You may remember this post, where I posted about CJ from A Soldier’s Perspective and the grief he is getting from his children’s former school. What’s worse is that his command in Alabama did not back him up. Luckily, many prominent milblogs are, and a lot of them are going silent in solidarity with this highly decorated American hero:

On Wednesday 16 December, readers will have the chance to imagine a world without milblogs, and to do something about it. Those participating are urging their readers to contact their elected representatives in Congress, and to let their opinions be known to them and to other leaders in Washington.

Some milblogs will remain silent for several days; some just for the day. All have agreed to keep the post about the silence and C.J. at the top of their blogs until Friday 18 December.

The issues go beyond C.J., and deserve careful consideration and discussion. We hope that you will cover this event, and explore the issues that lie at the heart of the matter. Contact the milbloggers in your area or that you know, and hear the story that lies within.

A Partial List of Participating Blogs:

This Ain’t Hell
Boston Maggie
Blackfive
Miss Ladybug
Drunken Wisdom
Grim’s Hall
From My Position
CDR Salamander
Bouhammer

Today, you have the chance to imagine a world without milblogs, and to do something about it. Make your voice heard by writing your congressional representatives and others, and by making donations as you see fit. (H/T – Mr. Wolf from Blackfive)

Hopefully, this protest will raise awareness to CJ’s plight, and with any luck, the Army will start standing up for one of its own.

While I am not a milblogger, I am also participating in the day of silence in honor of CJ and every other milblogger out there. Thank you all for what you do.

Fred Notes: This post, Milblogs Go Silent For CJ, is taken, in it’s entirety, from my blog buddy Wyatt Earp at Support Your Local Gunfighter. I am a part time Milblogger, I blog about politics, police matters and military support, as well as a myriad of other topics, but I stand in full support of Wyatt Earp and Military Bloggers the world over!

Day of infamy December Seventh

December 7, 2009

Today is the anniversary of the “Day of Infamy.” I’m no big fan of Roosevelt, and what he did to this nation. But, he did in fact lead this country through it’s darkest time since the War of Northern Aggression.

The attack on Pearl Harbor began what so far has been the greatest conflagration in mankind’s known history, and spawned what has become known as America’s Greatest generation.

I would ask that all people take a minute of silence, and remember these people that gave so much so that you and I can live in a free world.

Obamania coming apart? Has been for a while now

November 30, 2009

The cult of obama is appearing to coming apart at the seams. When even Yahoo starts to bring up the epic fail that is the current administration, even pussyfooting as would be expected of them? Somethings just not right and more and more of the American people are figuring that out. Not to mention that the linked story didn’t even go near the Gun Control issue.

Navy Seals Charged for being Navy Seals!

Few things get me angrier than when our military get shafted for doing their jobs! Then, when I first read this, I was literally so angry that I couldn’t post!

Navy SEAL’s Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Full Story Here:
Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

This is one of the most incredibly ridiculous stories that I have ever seen.

It’s not that I don’t believe it. I do. It’s that these SEALs would be brought up on ANY kind of charges because a murdering son of a bitch named Ahmed Hashim Abed got a bloody lip in the process of being captured.

Assault charges? Against our Navy SEALs? Am I the only one that sees the unbelievably PC hand of the Obama administration at work here? Am I the only one that sees the biggest appeaser to ever inhabit the White House doing his thing? Or, maybe, having it done at his behest?

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

OK, there will be a few *do-gooders* that aren’t going to like what I have to say, but, that’s OK, I can live with it.

Once upon a time, this piece of garbage would have been brought in beat ALL to hell and back, he would have been kept alive, but just barely. He would have been interrogated and once the desired information was extracted, he would have been unceremoniously disposed of.

But, that was before we forgot how to fight wars. That was before we lost the definition of the word VICTORY! That was before we had our warfighting strategy dictated to us by the likes of Nouri al-Maliki and Hamid Karzai. And it was long before we became the WUSSIES that are more concerned with the RIGHTS of WAR CRIMINALS than we are with the safety of our own people!

FoxNews.com obtained the official handwritten statement from one of the three witnesses given on Sept. 3, hours after Abed was captured and still being held at the SEAL base at Camp Baharia. He was later taken to a cell in the U.S.-operated Green Zone in Baghdad.

The SEAL told investigators he had showered after the mission, gone to the kitchen and then decided to look in on the detainee.

“I gave the detainee a glance over and then left,” the SEAL wrote. “I did not notice anything wrong with the detainee and he appeared in good health.”

I am taking this Navy SEAL at his word. Anyone have a problem with that?

United States Central Command declined to discuss the detainee, but a legal source told FoxNews.com that the detainee was turned over to Iraqi authorities, to whom he made the abuse complaints. He was then returned to American custody. The SEAL leader reported the charge up the chain of command, and an investigation ensued.

Read the above blockquote again, read it very carefully. He made his abuse complaint to IRAQI authorities. Now, I am NOT a conspiracy theory kind of guy, my regular readers know that, but suppose Ahmed Hashim Abed actually was in great condition when he was turned over to the Iraqis? Suppose they conspired to make the SEALs look bad and punched Abed in the mouth in an effort to make that happen? It is not out of the realm of possibility.

Suppose a Navy SEAL actually DID punch Abed? Do you really care? I know I damned sure don’t!

I sure as hell don’t, and further I think he should have punched this bastards ticket, unless he is a water boarding candidate. And no, I have no problem with using that mind trick on people like that!

Obama Approves Troop Increase in Southern District of New York

November 19, 2009

Received this in an email from a newer political group action  faction. I can’t really  vet them at this point, but?  I do like their style.

Perhaps it’s not surprising that President Obama would think nothing of subjecting Manhattan to the spectacle of a civilian court trial against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.  This is the administration that thought having an F-16 trail Air Force One around Ground Zero on a workday morning was a good idea.

On the other hand, perhaps we should view KSM as Obama’s consolation prize for failing to secure the 2016 Olympics on U.S. soil.  (How much tourism revenue will KSM’s trial bring to lower Manhattan?)

To try KSM and his four co-conspirators in federal court, New York will have to create a de facto Guantanamo Bay—one that is smaller than but as secure as the real thing.  The city will need to spend millions of dollars ensuring extra protection for the courthouse, the densely populated neighborhood—indeed all of downtown—including shipping in hundreds of U.S. marshals from other jurisdictions.  They will have to make special efforts to protect the judge, prosecutors, jury, federal agents, and witnesses, all of whom will receive death threats and will need armed protection.

As Rudy Guiliani noted, trying those who planned 9/11 in a civilian court in lower Manhattan is like trying those who planned Pearl Harbor in a civilian court in Hawaii.

The trial will drag on for years and New York will face extra, unnecessary risk during every day of the circus.  Manhattan will be placed in the international spotlight and become a prominent stage for jihadists to stage a suicide or car bombing.  Would-be attackers won’t have to do it right in front of the courthouse—anyplace in Manhattan would capture headlines and give encouragement to the Islamist cause worldwide. read more »

OORAH AIRDALES!

November 12, 2009

Aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute ‘heads up’ if they will be transiting Iranian airspace.

A pilot overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai  Read below….

The conversation..

Iranian Air Defense Radar: ‘Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.’

U.S. Aircraft: ‘This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.’

Iranian Air Defense Radar: ‘You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!’

U.S. Aircraft: ‘This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter.   Send ’em up. I’ll wait !’

Iranian Air Defense Radar: (no response)

The times they are a changing…

October 30, 2009

Or so the song goes. Change is not always bad, nor is it always good. So much though that has come about in recent times leaves one to wonder.

From Rules of Engagement that strap our troops ability to fight and win in real war. To undermining the core values of the military. To Chairborne Rangers with stars on their collars, that are political beasts and perfumed princes the leadership is, for the most part, FUBAR

From an administration that spreads obamanure across the land, supported by those that detest America, private property, and private enterprise. With RINO coconspitators that defile the Constitution and the Bill of Rights seemingly at every opportunity.

To a Supreme Court that ignores the Constitution, and principle of law that they all swore to protect and defend.

We, as a nation, are in fact, Balkanized. We are split into factions more so than ever before. More than at the beginning, when only a small percentage of people were pro-revolution, and in favor of splitting from England. More than at the beginning of the War of Northern Aggression. More, by a long shot, than during the nineteen sixties and seventies when a revolution seemed to be imminent to many of us.

What are we to think and do when confronted by all that is being force fed to us? Further, if it is all so good and righteous then why is it being force upon us? Here, I think that I will paraphrase something that I paraphrased many years ago.

Second Amendment solutions for bureaucratic belligerence and official oppression? Freedom, is found on the edge of a sword, and the muzzle of a gun. Especially when the ballot box only serves to thwart that freedom.

Jonah Walton 41st Division

October 25, 2009

On the passing of a warrior, Gen. George Patton once said, “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” This week, however, we do mourn the loss of a Patriot — the father of one of our Senior Editors, Jonah Walton. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the 41st Division in South Pacific combat zones from New Guinea to the Philippines. He was a Patriot who honored his oath and served his country well. To Jonah and other family members he leaves behind, we offer our condolences and prayers.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain…

October 19, 2009

Seems that the Iranian government can’t take what it dishes out. Supporting Hamas and Hezbollah is all fine and dandy when they are killing Americans, Israeli’s and anyone else that is not banging their heads on the floor in adulation of a pedophile.

What, however, will be the impostor in chiefs reaction to the overt threat against the United States? More kow towing? More “negotiation?” More kiss the worlds ass? For my part I hope that somehow, in some distant way or manner America was involved. Even if it was training some group or person way back when to fight the Soviets. However tenuous that might be.

If so, and I well expect that may indeed be the case, then BHO is free from the taint and evil  rude way things that happen in war are done by evil and rude men that make it safe for him to sleep at night. So I can keep my unsoiled disappointment in him without any reservations whatsoever. Or, is he The Man behind the curtain. The real puppet master, and Wizard of Oz?

Read on…

TEHRAN (Reuters) – The head of Iran‘s Revolutionary Guards on Monday vowed to “retaliate” against the United States and Britain after accusing them of backing the perpetrators of a suicide bombing that killed six Guards commanders.

Iranian media say the Sunni Muslim insurgent group Jundollah (God’s soldiers) has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s bombing in Sistan-Baluchestan province, which killed 42 people in all.

The incident threatened to overshadow talks between Iran and global powers in Vienna on Monday intended to tackle a standoff about Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Guards commander-in-chief Mohammad Ali Jafari said Iranian security officials had presented documents indicating “direct ties” from Jundollah to U.S., British and, “unfortunately,” Pakistani intelligence organizations, the ISNA news agency said.

“Behind this scene are the American and British intelligence apparatus, and there will have to be retaliatory measures to punish them,” Jafari was quoted as saying.

Jundollah, which has been blamed for many attacks since 2005 in the desert province bordering Pakistan, says it is fighting to end discrimination against Sunni Muslims by Iran’s dominant Shi’ites. Its leader is Abdolmalek Rigi.

“This person himself and his plans are undoubtedly under the umbrella and the protection of these (U.S., British and Pakistani) organizations,” Jafari said.

“TRAINED BY U.S. AND BRITAIN”

Iranian television quoted General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Guards’ ground forces, whose deputy was killed in the bombing, as saying:

“The base of the terrorists and rebels has not been in Iran. They are trained by America and Britain in some of the neighboring countries.”

The United States, Pakistan and Britain have all condemned the bombing, the bloodiest attack in Iran since the 1980-88 war with Iraq, and denied involvement.

“We reject in the strongest terms any assertion that this attack has anything to do with Britain,” said a spokeswoman at Britain’s Foreign Office. “Terrorism is abhorrent wherever it occurs.”

The bombing of a mosque in Zahedan, capital of Sistan-Baluchestan, reportedly also claimed by Jundollah, killed 25 people in May.

The underdeveloped desert province, mostly populated by Sunni Muslims, borders both Pakistan and Afghanistan and has frequently been the scene of clashes between security forces, ethnic Baluch Sunni insurgents and heavily-armed drug smugglers.

The victims of the bombing in the city of Sarbaz included two employees of the state broadcaster IRIB, the company said, and number of tribal chiefs who were due to hold a meeting with the Guards to promote Shi’ite-Sunni unity. The Guards said the attack was aimed at fomenting sectarian strife.

VIENNA TALKS

The incident raised tension between Iran and major powers ahead of nuclear talks at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

On the agenda was a proposal that Iran send low enriched uranium abroad for further enrichment, to be used in a reactor where it produces medical isotopes.

Ali Shirzadian, spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said on Monday that Tehran would carry out the supplementary enrichment itself if there was no agreement in its talks with Russia, France and the United States.

Analysts say Iran’s governing hardliners may use the bombing incident as an excuse to further clamp down on moderate opponents of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose disputed re-election in June sparked huge opposition protests.

The Guards force, whose influence has increased since Ahmadinejad came to power in 2005, played a key role in suppressing the street protests after the election.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev offered Moscow’s cooperation in fighting terrorism and extremism in a letter to Ahmadinejad, Medvedev’s press service said.

“We are ready to cooperate with Iran in countering these threats,” he wrote.

Ahmadinejad urged Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in a telephone call to help find the perpetrators of the attack, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit told the Daily Times newspaper: “Pakistan is not involved in terrorist activities … we are striving to eradicate this menace.”

Pakistan has backed armed Sunni Muslim groups in the past, particularly in Afghanistan.

Relations between Iran and Pakistan have been generally good in recent years and the neighbors are cooperating on plans to build a natural gas pipeline link. But Iran has in the past said Jundollah members have been operating out of Pakistan.

Some analysts believe Jundollah has evolved through shifting alliances with parties including the Taliban and Pakistan’s ISI intelligence service, who saw it as a tool to use against Iran.
