Innocents Betrayed (The Downsides of Gun Control)

January 8, 2013

What the left does not want you to know about. The true motive behind Gun Control and what drives hoplophobia. This is long, but well worth it. Remember, The Second Amendment isn’t about hunting! This is very graphic and you should not watch it if you can’t handle watching about what the real agenda of the democrats.

Governor Cuomo making preparations to confiscate New York’s guns…

January 4, 2013

It can happen anywhere folks. At least where people allow others to rule them rather than running their own lives as they should. Places where neo-communist’s and socialist’s have taken control and instituted their heavy handed brand of authoritarianism.

Yes, it actually was the Thursday before Christmas when Andrew Cuomo decided that New Yorkers might like to know his thoughts about the right to bear arms in NY State. God-fearing and government-fearing New Yorkers were quite disappointed. The Governor told the citizens of New York that he was seriously considering confiscating their guns. Cuomo was not kidding. He intends to take away some types of guns at a future date.

So close to Christmas, the Governor was playing the role of a reverse Santa Claus (OK, a Grinch to be exact) for those who still believe in the Second Amendment. New York already has the fourth toughest gun control laws in the nation. Despite such tight gun control, who among US feels safe travelling to New York? Are any of our fears based on the plain folk being armed—having guns in their homes? Or is it because we think criminals in NY will be eternally armed?

On his web site, shortly after Cuomo’s Albany speech, a blogger known as Monty on Guns offered a sobering thought about the left’s new strategy to divide gun owners by weapon types. Feinstein will be doing the same thing soon on a national level. Monty sees their end objective to eventually assure there are no types of guns permitted in America. There are a lot of weapon types that concerned citizens, fearing our government more than burglars, would like to possess to protect against a tyrannical intrusion of elected officials in our lives.

The major purpose of the 2nd Amendment of course is a strong defense against government tyranny. It is not to protect the right to go target shooting. The founders feared a government gone-bad more than anything else. When the confiscation begins, they will start with the weapons that only somebody really trying to protect themselves from a bad government would want to have—semi automatic one shot at a time weapons, and those rapid-fire weapons that have been banned for manufacture, other than to the government since 1987.

If the government goes bad, and they are targeting Y-O-U, would you look for a pug pistol or a Molotov Cocktail? Would you look for both if you had either in your arsenal? You do not have to register Molotov Cocktails!

The left and the corrupt progressive media likes to call all of these threatsassault weapons,” hoping to sway those neutral on the Second Amendment to their side—the side that wants to disarm America to make us all helpless to any perpetration. Here is his quote—directly from Monty with no changes—even syntax:

“The tactic is to divide gun owners that have guns primarily for hunting from those that enjoy AR’s and other military styled guns for sport, self defence and yes, even hunting. It seeks to divide gun owners based on what types of guns they prefer and for what uses they enjoy their guns. It divides the handgun shooters from shotgun enthusiasts; 3 gun shooters from hunters; semi-auto owners against bolt action owners. If they can get gun owners to side with them against a certain type of firearm, their tactic is advanced and their overall plan for all gun owners will move forward….with help of gun owners. Make no mistake about what the endstate is for these people. There is no difference to them between an AK 47 and your Grandfather’s 60 year old Browning Auto 5 shotgun.Once they get rid of one type of gun, they ALWAYS move on to the next. Ask our friends in the U.K and Australia about that.”

Adding his progressive voice to the mounting list of liberal progressives across America that have little use for the Constitution, its amendments, or any of the writings of the founders, Governor Cuomo was compelled to get on the anti-gun-owners list before it again becomes passé to talk about gun control.

With his Thursday December 19th speech, the Governor earned the right to sip some tea with Hollywood’s finest, including little Miss Lindsay Lohan! But, we know she is not pure on the issue as she has at least once handled a gun—pshaw! As Kojak would say, if convinced to be in charge: “turn it in baby!” The fear most Americans have about turning anything in is to whom, but more importantly, why?

The Cuomo package may be proposed as early as January when the Governor delivers his state of the state address. The big news is that Cuomo is one of the first political opportunists to suggest that confiscation of the people’s guns is an OK option.

What a great boon for the criminals in NY to know they will no longer risk bodily harm when they choose to make the property of any New Yorker theirs during their next burglary. Without the threat of getting a piece of lead in the butt, the burglary business may no longer qualify for hazardous duty pay in NY. Perhaps they can finally get regular rates on their Obamacare policies.

New York continues to be a very liberal state. It was always in Obama’s camp and the President has never embraced the notion of guns for the people. And he will not do so now while Cuomo collects them. So, the fine people of NY will get what they asked for when the Governor acts on his confiscation notion. Perhaps you can hire guards armed with sticks or entrenching tools as weapons as did the military with its new basic training recruits for years in the 1960’s and 1970’s. No new recruits had guns back then even when guarding the training compound.

Perhaps to encourage Governor Cuomo to take the strongest action possible, New Yorkers ought to self impose a 5% surcharge on their State Income Tax payment this year to help congratulate the Governor on this fine idea!

In fact, even before the formal proclamation in his state of the state speech, there is no reason to wait to begin turning in weapons. There is nothing in the law that says all New York gun owners must keep their unnecessary property indefinitely. Therefore, to really show the Governor that he is right on the mark, all NY gun owners, to show support for the confiscation idea, should without hesitation donate their huge investments in firearm technology to the soon to-be-built NY State smeltery.

Perhaps rather than market value, fair compensation would be about 50% of the weight of the materials rendered from the arsenal. The government’s cost of confiscation can be made up by the other 50%. That would be a painless tax for all residents who find no use for their firearms. Who likes gun-owners anyway? Perhaps the government can use confiscated and pre-smelted weapons to save dollars on the purchase of military and police weapons.

In fact, perhaps the whole fiscal cliff notion would have been solved merely by Americans turning in their guns to our benevolent, friendly government for smelting or for redistribution of the pre-smelted materials. Perhaps AG Eric Holder can still take a few tractor-trailer loads of some pre-smelted items to Mexico to get an even better price to bolster tax revenues for even more redistribution.

Gun owners who come in immediately on the proposed program should be paid by the pound at a 100% level for the special metals, wood, and hard plastics that can be extracted / rendered. When the legislation is enacted, the rate would probably go down to 50%. He who hesitates is lost.

Once all guns are in government hands, nobody would ever have to worry again about any problems such as the recent sad situation in Connecticut ever again. The guns will be gone and the former NY gun owners will have received a small stipend for turning them in. Cuomo is clearly a genius. Why didn’t Hitler or Stalin or Mao think of that first before they confiscated the guns of their opponents?

I hope Governor Cuomo plans to give all of the good-hearted NY criminals out there the opportunity to turn their guns ahead of time so there is never a period in which the law-abiding citizens without guns will have to worry about criminals packing weapons.

Perhaps a month would be necessary to collect all weapons from criminals. Because of Cuomo’s great speech, criminals will more than likely line up in droves in front of the smeltery to do their part. Officials just have to watch that the criminals do not trick the system by turning in cap gun imitations of assault weapons to gain the monetary credit.

Projections from some citizen gun advocates are that at least two or three criminals, blessed with a Christmas born-again moment, will turn-in their guns. As long as the rest of the criminals promise the NY Governor that they will not use their guns ever again, accountants and odds-makers have information to conclude that everybody will be safe—since law-abiding citizens would be forced to turn in their weapons and get their nasty firearms off the streets.

After such a good-faith effort on the part of the criminals, all law abiding citizens, including security guards that had been packing—those that might be on duty in front of the casinos or in front of Hollywood homes, banks, schools, and of course the Secret Service, and the governor’s personal body guards, would be safe. What a good deal!

After all, there would be no more guns about to worry! Even the President’s body guards would have no problem turning in their “assault” weapons to the approved government smelters. When the Cuomo plan becomes so popular that it goes national, the rest of the country will have a model for how to act. Anybody really wanting to kill anybody else would still be permitted to get that job done but, they would not be permitted to use guns.

They would be forced to use kitchen knives. Recently, because of their gun-control laws, by the way, kitchen knives have become the murder weapon of choice in the UK.

The scent of weapons burning can give all Americans that feeling of security and freedom that we in the US have clearly been lacking recently. Liberal progressives believe sincerely that the right to bear arms as a constitutional amendment probably was not intended for regular people anyway.
Finally, with no more guns, the country can be safe for the long haul, as long as the government never decides to go bad and use its guns against the people. But, when has a government ever gone bad? Perhaps now is just the right time to simply trust the government?

Liberal progressives have been suggesting that we all must act immediately to stop violence in America, regardless of whether just a little freedom and liberty are lost along the way. They feel it will be for the greater good.

Ben Franklin never got to hear the advice of the liberal progressives in his day. You may remember Franklin, an American founding father and a deep patriot. One of his famous admonitions to Americans Citizens goes like this: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Perhaps Franklin would change his mind today if he had the privilege of learning the facts from NY Governor Cuomo or NY Senator Schumer. Perhaps Franklin had been drinking the day he was quoted.

Madison too was not as enlightened as the NY pair of lawmakers when he said: [The Constitution preserves] the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation…(where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. —James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46.

As they try to dismember our Constitution one piece at a time, many progressive liberals in authority think the founders were just goofs who were drunk with power. The criminals surely would agree. The founders, as many who study history know, were more worried about the government being armed and going bad than protection from the Indians or some fellow colonists who had a bad childhood. The 2nd Amendment was to protect the Citizens from the government.

To get the Cuomo resolution passed into law, the Cuomo government would more than likely promise to behave well for all time henceforth. Since we all know the word of the government is rock solid, New Yorkers would be safe and well served at that point in time when they smell the aroma of the smoke of their own guns burning in the NY Smeltery. We Americans all trust that government will always do the right thing as it always has—in all countries—from the beginning of time.

Rather than harden into untrusting citizens, perhaps it is time for the people to bet that government officials will be righteous and the criminals will shortly thereafter become just as righteous? Rather than trust a personal firearm, the people can be encouraged to trust its government—regardless of what those silly founders had to say about that.

And, trusting the Cuomo initiative, when it passes in NY, will help it spread quickly to other states. All citizens of the US then will know it is time for all of US in the US to peacefully lay down our arms and prove for the history books once and for all, that Governor Cuomo had a great idea to reduce arms in America. As sure as there was never a Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, or Mao, we can then all be pleased to live happily ever after.

In such a Utopian world, no armed guards would be needed for any politician, including Governor Cuomo. Additionally, the eleven armed guards now employed at the Sidwell, where Sasha and Malia Obama attend school could be dismissed. After the fervor with which the Governor made his case on the Thursday before Christmas, surely, he would not be looking for an exception to his own rule.

Isn’t it just amazing how simple solutions can be, when they are purely brilliant. New Yorkers should be very proud of their Governor. Finally a good and righteous man appears on the scene with a simply brilliant notion! I can’t wait to see the first smoke fume.

Firearms Policy Coalition pledges “not one more inch.”

January 4, 2013
BELLEVUE, WA / SAN CARLOS, CA / MADERA, CA (January 4, 2013) – Firearms Policy Coalition, a new project of renowned Second Amendment rights advocacy organizations Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees, Second Amendment Foundation, and The Calguns Foundation has been launched, noted managing director Brandon Combs.  The Coalition’s website, firearmspolicy.org, was opened to the public in late December 2012.

The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) provides for an effective, NATO-like response to gun control campaigns and efficient, low-friction advocacy of litigation, legislation, education, and grassroots efforts that advance Second Amendment rights. Of the Coalition, Second Amendment Foundation Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb said, “I’m proud to help usher in the next generation of gun rights activism. The new paradigm is, and must be, coordination, mutual-support, and unity. Those who would disarm America’s law-abiding people are rabid in their desire to assault gun owners’ Second Amendment, privacy, and property rights.”

“FPC immediately brings to the table leading Second Amendment advocacy groups, leadership, staff, volunteers, and hundreds of thousands of active supporters. This,” said Combs, “will enable superior communication, real-time collaboration, and scalable action to advance individual liberties and defend against promised attacks on civil rights by extremists like U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Representative Carolyn McCarthy, California State Senator Leland Yee, and Illinois State Senators Dan Kotowski and Antonio Muñoz.”

“The coordination between stakeholders at all levels within FPC,” explained Calguns Foundation Chairman Gene Hoffman, “ is really key. We knew that, to meet the coming challenge head-on, a new model for our cause would have to be employed. As a seasoned Silicon Valley entrepreneur, I know how important it is to be agile and effective in today’s world – and what happens when you’re not.”

Excitement surrounding the Coalition and its fresh, positive approach to the issues that matter to gun owners has led to a rapid and steady increase of new individual members, which is expected to continue as new tools and organizational alliance members come online. FPC has already received numerous inquiries from interested gun rights organizations across the country and looks forwards to onboarding a number of organizations over the next quarter.

“We must now take on those who say that our Constitution is outdated, that it doesn’t mean what it says, and we must take them on together,” said Combs, CCRKBA Director of Advocacy and President of Cal-FFL. “Our rights are not negotiable and we are simply not going to give up another inch of our inalienable rights. This is the year of unity, focus, and resilience for gun rights activists at every level across the nation.”

State-level organizations seeking additional information or to explore joining the coalition should contact FPC at info@firearmspolicy.org or through the contact form at http://firearmspolicy.org/contact.

More information about FPC can be found at http://firearmspolicy.org/faq. FPC’s Facebook page is located at http://facebook.com/gunpolicy and its Twitter feed can be viewed at http://twitter.com/gunpolicy.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (ccrkba.org) is dedicated to protecting your firearms rights. Its role is to educate grass root activists, the public, legislators and the media. CCRKBA’s programs are designed to help all Americans understand the importance of the Second Amendment and its role in keeping Americans free.

The Second Amendment Foundation (saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms.  Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

The Calguns Foundation (calgunsfoundation.org) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which serves its members by providing Second Amendment-related education, strategic litigation, and the defense of innocent California gun owners from improper or malicious prosecution. The Calguns Foundation seeks to inform government and protect the rights of individuals to acquire, own, and lawfully use firearms in California.

California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees (calffl.org) is California’s premier non-profit industry association of, by, and for firearms manufacturers, dealers, collectors, training professionals, shooting ranges, and others, advancing the interests of its members and the general public through strategic litigation, legislative efforts, and education. A replica of Chicago: Complete with Government Goons!

December 21, 2012

In case you missed it, Piers Morgan called GOA Executive Director Pratt and his Second Amendment friends “idiots” on Tuesday night.

Yes, Piers thinks you’re an idiot.

But Pratt ruffled Piers’ feathers by shooting back, telling him that “Brits like him” just don’t like listening to facts.

Well, Gun Owners of America has been out front defending your gun rights and has appeared on scores of media outlets all across the country — and even across the world.  Some of the notable highlights include:

* GOA’s Larry Pratt on Piers Morgan on Tuesday night

*Director of Communications Erich Pratt in US News & World Report

* And Larry Pratt again with the opposing view piece for USA Today on Monday.

Make no mistake about it! We are in the fight of our lives.

Barack Obama has made it his central priority to destroy us.  And he and his anti-gun allies have billions of dollars of support from the TV, print, and cable media.

Obama will start out trying to ban semi-automatics, magazines and gun shows.  But make no mistake about it.  Obama’s initial efforts to crush us will just be the first step to making the entire country a replica of Chicago -– complete with across-the-board gun bans and defenseless citizens.

Julian Epstein, an MSNBC commentator, candidly revealed that the point of Obama’s campaign was not any particular piece of legislation, but rather to “break the back” of the gun lobby.

You can be sure of this:  The battle against Obama and his anti-gun stooges will be the biggest fight of our lives.

Already, Gun Owners of America has been the most prominent spokesman for the Second Amendment in the wake of the horrific Newtown tragedy.

Roll Call, the newspaper of record on Capitol Hill, remarked that, in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, “the reaction from one gun rights group [GOA] stood out.”

The liberal Huffington Post trumpeted:  “Gun Owners of America steals Newtown gun debate while NRA hides.”  It went on to say that “[w]hat is surprising is that [GOA Executive Director] Pratt is the only gun lobby representative willing to discuss his beliefs in public in the days after the Connecticut massacre.”

GOA has virtually been a solitary voice giving interviews all over the country –- and the world -– on behalf of gun rights and the Second Amendment.

Please stand with us so that we can continue fighting against the anti-gun onslaught.

As much as anyone, we deplore the efforts of anti-gun zealots to exploit this tragedy for political gain.  But if we hide in fear, we will have lost the debate and the legislative battle before even coming onto the battlefield.

We cannot let that happen.

This has not been without cost.  We have received death threats against us and our children, and hundreds of profanity-laced emails.  One writer said he wished our own children had died at Sandy Hook.  Another said he wished that all our GOA members would “just put a gun to their heads and pull the trigger.”

But, when you stand up to sick-minded opportunistic people –- as we have –- you can expect their true colors to show through.

We hope our members are proud of us.  As our legislative counsel told one liberal reporter:  “I think a lot of people who see and hear us fighting, at a time when [gun control advocates] are ready for battle, they’ll remember it.”

So we need your help to keep fighting.

And we need you to fight alongside us.

Most elected officials would love nothing more…

October 12, 2012
Most elected officials would love nothing more than to take gun owners’ votes and then never hear from them again until the next election rolls around.

They think they’re MORE than capable of running our lives for us, after all. Voters like you and me just “get in the way.”

Well, I’m a State Representative who believes the opposite . . .

. . . which is why I’ve joined with Rocky Mountain Gun Owners to sponsor the Colorado Constitutional Carry Act in the upcoming Legislative Session.

I believe it’s time for you and me to send a loud and clear message to the General Assembly that the days of demanding gun owners’ votes and then doing nothing in return are OVER.

So won’t you please click here and sign the petition to your State Representative and State Senator urging them to vote and pass the Colorado Constitutional Carry Bill?

As you know, if passed, Constitutional Carry would restore the right of every law-abiding Colorado citizen to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families — WITHOUT going through a bunch of bureaucratic rigmarole!

In short, if you’re legally able to own a firearm, you’re legally able to carry it concealed for self-defense. Period.

This is the way it’s done in Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming.

And despite the hand-wringing of the gun-grabbers, the news media and government bureaucrats, those states have not seen a rise in shoot-outs and vigilante justice since passing Constitutional Carry.

I know you’re not surprised.

When law-abiding citizens are able to protect themselves, criminals soon realize they had better start looking for another line of work.

After all, attacking a “victim” armed with a concealed firearm can often result in early “retirement!”

The fact is, the gun-grabbers’ overbearing and UNCONSTITUTIONAL “regulations” and “requirements” are meant to do nothing more than undermine the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens just like you and me.

After all, do CRIMINALS ask for government permission before they carry a concealed weapon?

Do CRIMINALS have to pay fees or take training classes?

Of course not.

But under current law in Colorado:*** Government officials can still deny you a concealed-carry permit;

All they have to do is claim they’re worried you MIGHT commit a crime in the future -– a power which will almost certainly be abused in certain areas.

*** Military veterans can be STRIPPED of the right to carry a concealed weapon;

Simply acknowledging mental stress to an anti-gun government psychologist upon returning from war could trigger the ban.

*** Colorado gun owners must pay a fee every five years, or have their “training renewed,” just to keep their permits;

Some estimates show these regulations cost law-abiding Colorado gun owners up to $3 million every year, which is why some “pro-gun” organizations (of whom many are firearms instructors) supported this provision in the past.

That’s why it’s vital you act today!

The good news is, Colorado Second Amendment supporters just like you have already proven we can create a grassroots firestorm.

Our job is to force the Legislature to pass Constitutional Carry when they come back to Denver.

No other group is fighting for the right to keep and bear arms in Colorado but Rocky Mountain Gun Owners . . .

. . . which is why I’m a member of RMGO myself.

But this fight won’t be easy.

Gun control groups are likely going to be pouring millions into Colorado to brow-beat weak-kneed politicians into DEFEATING Constitutional Carry.

You and I can’t let that happen.

That’s why clicking here and signing the petition is so important.

Over the next few months, my goal is to gather up to 100,000 petitions from Second Amendment supporters just like you so that we can FLOOD the Legislature with these petitions and show every elected official in Denver you and I mean business.

Then, using mail, email and phone banks, I plan to recruit an additional 50,000 Second Amendment supporters all across Colorado to help join in this fight.

And when the fight really begins to heat up, my hope is to run targeted newspaper and radio ads to help us get the votes to put us over the top.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid even all this won’t be enough.

If you and I want to DEFEAT the gun-grabbers’ anti-gun lobby, we must be prepared to push on every front.

None of these tactics will be cheap. So I must ask for your generous financial support, as well.

Mandatory begging for bucks link.

The UN Continues Pushing to Take Away Your Second Amendment Rights

September 26, 2012
We can all breathe a sigh of relief that the Obama administration was forced to pull out of signing the Arms Trade Treaty in July.  Following its actions, China and Russia also balked.
So congratulations, once again, are in order — as your hard work paid off handsomely.  Over 50 US Senators ultimately signed a letter opposing this abomination!
But don’t think the UN has pulled back from its unremitting efforts to destroy your constitutional rights.
Earlier this month, the UN’s “Review Conference on Illicit Small Arms Trade” adopted an anti-gun “consensus outcome document” with the acquiescence of the Obama administration.
Among other things, the document, in the UN’s own words, “underscored efforts in marking, record-keeping and cooperation in tracing small arms ….”  We all understand that this verbiage is code for national gun registration.
And in the words of the UN, “Member States agreed to strengthen national measures on marking ….”  Now “marking” can mean many things.  But we know from records of UN discussions, that one of the things it means is “microstamping.”
This procedure to imprint a unique identifier on fired cartridges, may or may not be safely scientifically achievable.  And at any rate, it is very costly.
Thus without admitting it, microstamping requirements could effectively put an end to your Second Amendment rights.
Now, the “consensus outcome document” will certainly not have the punch of a Senate-ratified treaty.  Nevertheless, we cannot assume it will not be a threat — or that the President won’t try to implement certain parts of it through Executive Order.  Of course, Barack Obama could do an illegal Executive Order or illegal regulation with or without UN encouragement, and that is something we might be facing during a second presidential term, if he is re-elected.

The liberal nut cases…

September 15, 2012
Gun Owners of America and its foundation are in the middle of a seminal fight in the courts -– a fight which could determine whether the federal courts will be of any use in protecting our Second Amendment rights for the foreseeable future.
That fight will determine whether the Founders -– or the liberal nut cases who govern the People’s Republic of Maryland -– will dictate the scope of the Second Amendment.
First, a little background.
As you remember, the Supreme Court’s Heller and McDonald cases recognized that the Second Amendment was an individual right -– and that it was a right that applied to the states.
Unfortunately, on page 54 of the Heller decision, the majority opinion suggested that it might uphold some unconstitutional anti-gun laws, in spite of the Second Amendment’s absolute ban on such restrictions.
In effect, the court invited federal courts to apply a “balancing test” to the Second Amendment.  And, since that time, the federal courts have upheld a large portion of the unconstitutional gun bans challenged by gun owners.
This is where the Maryland case comes in.
The ironically dubbed “Free State” is, in fact, one of the least free jurisdictions in the country.
On guns, you have to have a permit to carry one.  That permit can be denied if you don’t show a “good and substantial purpose.”  And whether you have a “good and substantial purpose” is a subjective decision that can be determined in virtually any way Maryland’s anti-gun fruitcakes choose to interpret it.
How does Maryland reconcile that with the Second Amendment?
The answer is that it doesn’t.  Its 46-page brief quotes the Second Amendment at the outset and spends the remaining 45 pages talking about something else.
Says Maryland, the Second Amendment is essentially identical to the 1689 English Bill of Rights.
Wrong!  The Second Amendment codifies a God-given right which comes from -– well, ah -– God.
If, as Maryland contends, our Second Amendment rights are no broader than English rights, this means government can seize all of our guns and outlaw gun ownership across the board.
Says Maryland, “a majority of nineteenth-century courts had upheld the constitutionality of complete prohibitions on the carry of concealed weapons.”
If Maryland prevails on this proposition, the Heller case is worthless –- and your God-given right to defend yourself, your family, and your friends is essentially meaningless.
This is why the Gun Owners Foundation has filed a brief (pdf) on your behalf on appeal before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond.
But lawyers are not cheap, and the legal process is not invoked without a substantial expenditure of resources.
This is why we need your help to support our important work in this case.
Please give as generously as you can.  And know that we have selected this case because it represents an extreme example of anti-gun repression –- one that should be easy for the courts to strike down.
Know that what happens in this case before the Fourth Circuit and, if necessary, before the Supreme Court, could determine whether the Heller decision has any meaning -– or is just a useless pile of platitudes.

WYOMING ELECTION: Representative Kendell Kroeker

August 15, 2012
Wyoming State Representative Kendell Kroeker is at the head of the pack when it comes to defending your freedoms, particularly the Second Amendment.
Rep. Kroeker earned an A+ rating with Gun Owners of America for his leadership in pushing the state’s Constitutional Carry law and pushing for a strong preemption law to prevent local governments from infringing on your gun rights.
The Constitutional Carry bill supported by Rep. Kroeker treats concealed carry as a RIGHT, instead of a privilege granted by the government.
Thanks to the bill pushed by Rep. Kroeker and others, Cowboy State citizens can carry a concealed firearm without first having to obtain permission from government bureaucrats.
And Rep. Kroeker authored a preemption bill HB 60) that would have prevented municipalities from passing gun control laws that contradict state law.
Rep. Kroeker’s bill (which unfortunately came up two votes short this year) would put “teeth” into existing state law by imposing heavy fines and removal from office for local politicians who would pass local ordinances such as “gun free zones.”
Given his record in defending freedom, it is no wonder that Rep. Kroeker was rated “The Most Liberty-Friendly Member of the House” by the Wyoming Liberty Group, and it is also no surprise that he is targeted by moderates for defeat in the August 21st Republican primary.
If you live in House District 35 (Natrona County), defend freedom by casting your vote for Kendell Kroeker, a proven and trusted friend.
You can also help Kendell by forwarding this message to your friends and joining the conversation on Kendell’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kendell-Kroeker-Wyoming-House-District-35/111603015518585.
Thank you for standing with Kendell Kroeker in an election that is important to gun owners in Wyoming.
Sincerely,
Tim Macy

“There is no consensus and the meeting is over,”

July 31, 2012

No surprise, the worst abusers of human rights couldn’t come to a consensus on the best method of destroying resistance to their oppression.

The pro-gun community breathed a collective sigh of relief after United Nations negotiators failed to produce a treaty regulating global arms trade on Friday.
“There is no consensus and the meeting is over,” said a spokesman for the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, which sponsored the month-long conference on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).
However, while the demise of the ATT is a positive outcome for U.S. gun owners, it would be a mistake to believe that it spells the end of the effort to regulate small arms worldwide.
In fact, to global gun ban supporters like Amnesty International and Oxfam America, the ATT was a success whether or not a treaty was produced.
Sure, they would rather have had the treaty pass, and they complained loudly when it was scuttled.  But the fact remains that the ATT represented the most serious discussion of global gun control in history and it ensures that small arms (read: your gun collection) will be part of future negotiations.
And there will be another anti-gun treaty in the near future.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called the unraveling of the ATT merely a “setback,” and insiders at the UN say they expect a vote at the next session of the General Assembly later this year to restart treaty talks.
The Obama administration continues to back a treaty and has already signaled its support for an additional round of negotiations after the next presidential election.
“While we sought to conclude the month’s negotiations with a treaty, more time is a reasonable request for such a complex and critical issue,” a State Department spokesman said.
The ATT was a convenient catch-all mechanism for the many streams of arms control measures that have been flowing from UN headquarters for years.  Just because the ATT was blocked does not mean that all the streams will stop flowing.
Despite what happened — or didn’t happen — this year with the ATT, the drive to ratify a treaty regulating small arms is alive and well.
GOA Members Play Big Role in Stopping Anti-gun Treaty
While the ATT sought to regulate trade on conventional weapons such as battle tanks and battleships, it was the small arms provisions that stirred the most opposition in the U.S.
Earlier this year, GOA began working with Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) in an effort to get Senators on the record opposing the treaty.
The Moran letter warned that in requiring nations to take “appropriate measures” in furtherance of the goals of the ATT, the vaguely worded treaty “will be used to push the U.S. in the direction of measures that would infringe on both Second Amendment freedoms and the U.S.’s sovereignty more broadly.”
The fact Sen. Moran and millions of gun owners in America rallied fifty other Senators to go on the record against the treaty was a huge obstacle for the Obama administration.  It put the anti-gun side well short of the 67 votes needed in the Senate to ratify a treaty, and would have left the President “owning” an unpopular, anti-gun treaty in an election year.
Backdoor Gun Control Attempt
The President knows that he cannot get his anti-Second Amendment agenda passed through the full Congress, so he simply attempts to bypass that body whenever possible through Executive Orders, presidential directives, and international treaties.
GOA has helped to lay the groundwork to stop the UN small arms treaty.  Since it first came up more than ten years ago, we have led the charge to make gun owners aware of its dangerous implications.
For now, thanks to the efforts of so many politically active supporters, we have bought some time before the next arms treaty.  And that day will come.  The gun grabbers know they’re running a marathon, not a sprint.  They are patient and will work out a more narrowly crafted treaty that still slices away at our liberty.
But GOA, the no-compromise gun lobby, will not budge when it comes to protecting the Second Amendment from enemies at home or abroad.
Action: Contact your Senators and thank those who signed on to the Moran letter, and express disappointment in those who would sacrifice your liberty and U.S. sovereignty to the UN.  When you click here, the appropriate message will be sent to your Senators depending on their position.

Gun Control; The hidden agenda of the epic failure obama regime

July 27, 2012

Fast and Furious was a pretty blatant attempt by the obama regime to stoke the fires for advancing the cause of hoplophobia in these not so United States. Any time any restrictions are placed upon The Bill of Rights, on any of those rights, it weakens all the others. That said, it is the Second Amendment that protects all of those other rights from an overpowering and abusive government.

Since the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado happened there has been yet again a resurrection of cries and lamentations pleading for more restrictions on we the peoples ability to properly and effectively defend ourselves, our families, friends, and nation. These misguided pleas are little more than emotional gambits that would truly lessen freedom and liberty while in fact exposing all of us to even more danger without the ability to defend ourselves.

Again, we hear about automatic weapons that were not used and are nearly impossible to acquire legally here in the United States. We hear that so called Assault Rifles have no legitimate uses outside the realm of the military or law enforcement. Some people are so misinformed that even responding to such arguments exposes one to the dangers of lowering oneself to their level of ignorance. Or about the evils of high capacity magazines (called clips by the ignoramuses) by those that have never apparently heard of “swam attacks.”

All the old false arguments about gun ownership are always, once again, raised as well. Hopefully the American people have not been so brainwashed as to believe things like a gun in the home will most likely be used against you. Or that a gun will not help fend off rapes or other assaults.

Then there are all the utterly ridiculous arguments about the militia clause of the Second Amendment.

This, from Texas Fred’s Blog is an excellent comment;

obama’s quote…

“I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms,” Obama said. “But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities.”

I could NOT agree more with him. I also believe that every American is a member of the militia and a soldier for America when the time comes and when the situation demands it of them. Because for me, the 2nd Amendment means that if America is attacked by its enemies, foreign or DOMESTIC, that my right to bear arms entitles me to have the ability to defend her. I in essence become a soldier with the duty to protect my country and the 2nd Amendment assures me the proper tools to do my duty.

And as for the statement that the AK 47 is best suited for the battlefield is also a true. A battlefield is not a specific area or terrain…it is the place where the enemy is met and confronted. A battlefield is wherever the fighting takes place. So, my AK47 is suited for wherever in America I choose to be.

To be honest, I don’t believe ANY regulation on firearms should be allowed. I believe our Founding Fathers wanted us to be on an even keel at all times with all of our potential enemies. Back then, the enemy had muskets and so did we. As progress of the firearm came about, so should our right to have the best arms we can.

If our potential enemies had high capacity magazines or full auto weapons, so should We The People have this same ability. We can not be an effective and well regulated militia if we have inferior weapons to those of our enemies. I am sure that our Founding Fathers did not expect future generations to fight a tyrannical govt or any enemy that could outshoot us or mow us down with little or no effort. That is why they used the word “ARMS”, to include ALL weapons. I do believe that weapons of mass destruction should certainly be regulated. However, I can not help but think that the regulation of our everyday firearms, such as caliber size, magazine capacity, rapid fire, size of weapon, barrel length, silencers and so on, is in direct violation of the 2nd Amendment as our Founding Fathers intended. All of this nonsense was created by liberals who inch by inch, convinced the American people these moves were necessary to protect us. In reality, ever regulation has made us less and less able to resist those that would seek to control us and take our rights away from us.

As I am sure everyone here knows fully well, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting or even about personal protection against home invaders or muggers. Yes, those are legitimate purposes to be recognized, but our 2nd Amendment is about Americans being allowed to maintain the ability to retain all other rights gratned to us by GOD. About our ability to fight, on an even footing, all enemies that want to take away our freedoms and force us into submission.

During the Revolution, We The People owned muskets as did our enemy, the British. Could you imagine us winning the Revolution if we were regulated into having less than the same arms as the British? It would have been very difficult if not impossible to win this war that was the birth of America. If not for the right to keep and bear arms, we would all still be be drinking tea and shouting long live the queen. Well, every regulation that has been put in place regarding firearms have slowly eroded our ability to oppose a tyrannical goverment. If the time ever came, (And I seriously hope it NEVER does), We The People will be at a huge disadvantage. The arms our govt allows us to have now are nowhere equally matched against those we would have to fight against if a tyrant commanding our military wanted to disarm us.

Of some concern is the fact that would our soldiers and law enforcment officers ever raise their arms and use them on everyday Americans? Would they really disarm We The People after having sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution? I hope not.

However, Hitler convinced countless German soldiers to do exactly that. These soldiers swore allegiance to Hitler and killed their own countrymen. They killed them by the millions under the orders of their leader. How did so many become convinced to do this? Willingly? Did none of them have a conscience? They had weapons so why did none of them turn them on Hitler and his henchmen directly?

So, having history as my lesson, I worry that it could happen again. I bet that proud German citizens never thought that fellow Germans in uniform would kill them…but it happened. I have even read that German jews that proudly served in uniform for Germany in WWI were killed as well. Nothing protected you if Hitler and his troops wanted you dead. This is one reason I find it particularly odd when I hear jewish Americans shout for gun control. Do they not realize what they are saying?

Could history like this really repeat itself? Have we learned from it? I would like to, but we are human and just as humans have done for thousands of generations, we always seem to make the same mistakes over and over. Could it happen again?

We are living in interesting times. I know that during every election it is said that this is the most important one. However, I think it is a fact this time.

I have read much about all of our presidents throughout American history and even though I have not agreed with the ideaology of some of them, I do believe that every one of our presidents in the past loved America. That they were doing what they believed was best for Americans, at least to some degree. Of course, corruption in our government has always existed, but these were almost always for personal gain and cronism. This is the first time that I feel we have a president in office, along with other HIGH ranking politicians that truly do HATE America and want to destroy it. That they really have never been proud of their country their entire adult lives. That it is more than just about stealing our treasury for their own person gain or taking action for more power and control. For the first time, I am almost positive that those in charge want more than wealth and power, they want to DESTROY America.

Just like those evil individuals of history who hated their fellow countrymen so much that they threw open the gates to their country’s enemies that have led to complete destruction, obama wants to do the same. Just remember his quote to the russian ambassador not that long ago. Look at the policies and laws he is enacting that make us more and more vulnerable. Not only is he working to disarm the people, he is working diligently to dismantle our military and destroy our nukes. What is he doing, and why is he allowed to do this?

I think obma is a lackey of someone with even more power and influence and that obama is a pawn that will be discarded after his purpose has been fulfilled. I used to not believe in conspiracy theories and thought that only wackos would think like this. No more.

I hope I am merely being paranoid. I hope that we have a legitimate election that sees obama out the door. An election that keeps and takes our senate and house. And that Romney does the things he has promised. Until November elections are passed and even more so, that Romney is sworn in, I will remain slightly uneasy. They say that good always triumphs over evil…I hope they are right.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
