Colorado now seeks to torpedo free speech: First it was the ability to defend yourself. Well, we did warn you.

May 2, 2013

We had to know this was coming sooner or later. A government that believes itself to be powerful enough to restrict the right of citizens to self-defense with firearms will sooner or later seek to torpedo free speech as well.

Invariably collectivist governments around the world prove the point. From the old Communist Soviet Union to Red China, from Hitler’s Germany to Castro’s Cuba, such regimes are convinced it is necessary not only to insure that their citizens are disarmed but that their right to criticize the government or to utter other forbidden ideas must be severely restricted.

The name of the game is centralized control. Government fears the freedom of the people. Thus, the people must be muzzled and deprived of their guns.

Colorado is the latest case in point.

Just weeks ago the Colorado legislature and governor, both of which are under the control of Democrats, passed highly restrictive gun control measures over the objections of millions of citizens, leading a major gun magazine manufacturer to promptly leave the state, taking its jobs with it. Sportsmen and hunters have vowed to boycott the state. Hunting and fishing are a multimillion dollar industry in Colorado, and the state government benefits handsomely from the activity.

But perhaps the thing that sticks in the craw of Colorado politicians the most is the vociferous verbal attacks they are receiving from citizens who astutely observe that the state has crossed a line that is totally unacceptable to freedom-loving citizens. Threats of recall elections have been rampant, and forces are now amassing to oust all Democrats from the legislature in the next election for their shocking overreach in trampling on the rights of citizens.

However, it is to be noted that the main instigator of the current attack on free speech is a Republican.

In addition, Colorado has become a target for nationwide civil disobedience as gun owners vow they will deliberately break the state’s new gun laws.

But instead of such outrage leading the politicians to back off their ill-conceived attacks on citizen rights, the pompous purveyors of prepotent despotism decided instead to muzzle the citizens, preventing them from advocating for Second Amendment rights.

One writer called the action “an unprecedented abuse of power.”

When the gun control bills were being considered in the Colorado legislature, Rep. Cheri Gerou, a Republican, burst forth in a tirade over her constituents’ views on guns. One of her targets was a representative of the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Association, Joe Neville, who eloquently defended the legislator’s gun rights constituents. In retaliation Gerou filed a complaint against Neville and launched an investigation by an “anti-gun tribunal” into the gun owner group and Neville.

The full story of the confrontation instigated by Gerou can be found here.

This kind of behavior on the part of elected representatives who are supposed to represent all of their constituents cannot be tolerated. If her actions are sanctioned or overlooked, and if she is successful in silencing Neville and the gun owners group, then the forces of anti-freedom will win yet another battle.

Patriots beware.

Firearms Policy Coalition adds new members

January 26, 2013
BELLEVUE, WA (January 25, 2013) – As the debate over new gun control laws continues to take top billing in state and national news, organizations representing gun owners and Second Amendment rights in five U.S. states have recently joined Firearms Policy Coalition, noted managing director Brandon Combs.

New FPC members include Commonwealth Second Amendment (of Massachusetts), Florida Carry, IllinoisCarry, Hawaii Defense Foundation, and Lone Star Shooting Association (of Texas).

“In the midst of one proposed gun ban after another, the addition of these outstanding organizations to our Coalition means that those working hard to secure our Second Amendment rights are coming together to tell President Obama and our state legislatures that enough is enough,” remarked CCRKBA founder Alan Gottlieb. “The millions of law-abiding American gun owners have had it with being scapegoated for the crimes of the evil and insane.”

“There’s never been a more critical time for all of us fighting for the advancement of Second Amendment rights to work together,” observed Brent Carlton, president of Comm2A. “Our litigation efforts are critically important, but it’s equally important that gun owners be informed and take action every day to oppose those laws which infringe on their rights.” Continued Carlton, “FPC provides an opportunity for Massachusetts gun owners to have an impactful and far-reaching effect, both in terms of their own state’s laws as well as proud Americans who value their federal Constitutional rights.”

“This partnership brings Florida Carry to the forefront of the national public policy debate on private firearms ownership,” said Sean Caranna, Executive Director of Florida Carry, Inc. “As Florida’s largest and most active Second Amendment rights organization, we’re proud to be a part of this coalition and through it extend our grassroots efforts to combat gun control laws in Florida and everywhere.”

IllinoisCarry spokesperson Valinda Rowe added, “IllinoisCarry is pleased to join efforts with the Firearm Policy Coalition. Not only must we actively work toward beating back irrational gun control laws in our home state of Illinois but we must also work toward protecting and preserving our rights on a national level. This would be a daunting task if not for a nationwide coalition of Second Amendment groups like the FPC. We thank the FPC for creating this opportunity to work together, coast to coast across the nation. Together, we can stand up to those who would strip us of our Constitutional rights and insure the Second Amendment remains strong for many generations to come.”

“Over the past two decades, many states have used common sense and protected the civil liberties of their residents, such as through permit-less and accessible shall-issue firearm carry laws,” said Chris Baker, president of Hawaii Defense Foundation. “However, some states just can’t seem to grasp the plain meaning of the Constitution. To those states, we say this: we will fight hard together, we will fight smart together, and we will win together. That is exactly what we and the Firearms Policy Coalition will do.”

“While Texas residents may not face the same gun law challenges as those in Massachusetts, California, or Illinois, all Texans are Americans first and know that gun control laws anywhere are an affront to liberty everywhere,” commented Gary Burris, president of Lone Star Shooting Association. “We’re proud to join with FPC and work cooperatively to secure our fundamental rights so that law-abiding gun owners can exercise their rights across our great state and country, in Texas and in Toledo.”

“Firearms Policy Coalition has reached millions of Americans since launching in December and we’re looking forward to reaching millions more,” said FPC’s Combs. “The overwhelmingly positive reaction to our message of civil rights and the facts about gun control really drives home how much Americans value their freedom. These new FPC member organizations are key to ensuring that the Second Amendment means what it says.”

“While some power-hungry politicians want nothing more than to undermine the Second Amendment and important legal decisions like Heller and McDonald, we’re confident that the Constitution provides the best policy: the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not – and must not – be infringed.”

Gun rights organizations interested in joining the Coalition should contact FPC at info@firearmspolicy.org or through the contact form at http://firearmspolicy.org/contact.
FPC’s robust grassroots action tools to engage Congress and the President on proposed gun laws are available at  http://firearmspolicy.org/take-action. More information about FPC can be found at http://firearmspolicy.org/faq. FPC’s Facebook page is located at http://facebook.com/gunpolicy and its Twitter feed can be viewed at  http://twitter.com/gunpolicy.

Firearms Policy Coalition (firearmspolicy.org) is a project of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees (CAL-FFL), the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), and The Calguns Foundation (CGF). FPC offers an agile, effective, and scalable vehicle for advocacy, education, and grassroots action to advance Second Amendment civil rights.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (ccrkba.org) is dedicated to protecting your firearms rights. Its role is to educate grass root activists, the public, legislators and the media. CCRKBA’s programs are designed to help all Americans understand the importance of the Second Amendment and its role in keeping Americans free.

Commonwealth Second Amendment (Comm2A.org) is a grassroots civil rights organization dedicated to promoting a better understanding of rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. Our activities include educational programs designed to promote a better understanding of Massachusetts and Federal firearms laws and rights as well as programs to defend and protect the civil rights of Massachusetts gun owners.

Hawaii Defense Foundation (hawaiidefensefoundation.org) was chartered to protect and defend the Second Amendment of the United States and Hawaii Constitution, provide safety and education training on firearms, and help empower Americans with the knowledge and understanding of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.  HDF advocates for all civil liberties, and is currently engaged in Federal litigation regarding the Second and First Amendments.

IllinoisCarry (illinoiscarry.com) reaches thousands of pro-Second Amendment citizens with email alerts and legislative actions. In addition to other efforts, IllinoisCarry helps find legal counsel for those whose Second Amendment rights have been violated. Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day (IGOLD), which is co-sponsored by IllinoisCarry, drew over 8,000 Illinois gun owners from across the state to Springfield to march in our yearly parade and engage their elected officials in 2012.

Florida Carry, Inc. (floridacarry.org) is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to advancing the fundamental civil right of all Floridians to keep and bear arms for self-defense as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I Section 8 of the Florida Constitution. Florida Carry works tirelessly toward repealing and striking down ill-conceived gun control laws that have been proven to provide safe havens to criminals and be deadly to law abiding citizens.

Lone Star Shooting Association (lssa.us) was founded by a group of American and European shooters to build a tool for public and political awareness used to spread legal, responsible possession of firearms and the right to use firearms in a practical manner suitable for self defense. LSSA funds projects for the preservation of gun rights around the world.

Innocents Betrayed (The Downsides of Gun Control)

January 8, 2013

What the left does not want you to know about. The true motive behind Gun Control and what drives hoplophobia. This is long, but well worth it. Remember, The Second Amendment isn’t about hunting! This is very graphic and you should not watch it if you can’t handle watching about what the real agenda of the democrats.

Warning: Graphic Violence. This disturbing video clearly demonstrates the consequences of centralizing government power and disarming citizens. Genocide always follows.

Most elected officials would love nothing more…

October 12, 2012
Most elected officials would love nothing more than to take gun owners’ votes and then never hear from them again until the next election rolls around.

They think they’re MORE than capable of running our lives for us, after all. Voters like you and me just “get in the way.”

Well, I’m a State Representative who believes the opposite . . .

. . . which is why I’ve joined with Rocky Mountain Gun Owners to sponsor the Colorado Constitutional Carry Act in the upcoming Legislative Session.

I believe it’s time for you and me to send a loud and clear message to the General Assembly that the days of demanding gun owners’ votes and then doing nothing in return are OVER.

So won’t you please click here and sign the petition to your State Representative and State Senator urging them to vote and pass the Colorado Constitutional Carry Bill?

As you know, if passed, Constitutional Carry would restore the right of every law-abiding Colorado citizen to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families — WITHOUT going through a bunch of bureaucratic rigmarole!

In short, if you’re legally able to own a firearm, you’re legally able to carry it concealed for self-defense. Period.

This is the way it’s done in Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming.

And despite the hand-wringing of the gun-grabbers, the news media and government bureaucrats, those states have not seen a rise in shoot-outs and vigilante justice since passing Constitutional Carry.

I know you’re not surprised.

When law-abiding citizens are able to protect themselves, criminals soon realize they had better start looking for another line of work.

After all, attacking a “victim” armed with a concealed firearm can often result in early “retirement!”

The fact is, the gun-grabbers’ overbearing and UNCONSTITUTIONAL “regulations” and “requirements” are meant to do nothing more than undermine the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens just like you and me.

After all, do CRIMINALS ask for government permission before they carry a concealed weapon?

Do CRIMINALS have to pay fees or take training classes?

Of course not.

But under current law in Colorado:*** Government officials can still deny you a concealed-carry permit;

All they have to do is claim they’re worried you MIGHT commit a crime in the future -– a power which will almost certainly be abused in certain areas.

*** Military veterans can be STRIPPED of the right to carry a concealed weapon;

Simply acknowledging mental stress to an anti-gun government psychologist upon returning from war could trigger the ban.

*** Colorado gun owners must pay a fee every five years, or have their “training renewed,” just to keep their permits;

Some estimates show these regulations cost law-abiding Colorado gun owners up to $3 million every year, which is why some “pro-gun” organizations (of whom many are firearms instructors) supported this provision in the past.

That’s why it’s vital you act today!

The good news is, Colorado Second Amendment supporters just like you have already proven we can create a grassroots firestorm.

Our job is to force the Legislature to pass Constitutional Carry when they come back to Denver.

No other group is fighting for the right to keep and bear arms in Colorado but Rocky Mountain Gun Owners . . .

. . . which is why I’m a member of RMGO myself.

But this fight won’t be easy.

Gun control groups are likely going to be pouring millions into Colorado to brow-beat weak-kneed politicians into DEFEATING Constitutional Carry.

You and I can’t let that happen.

That’s why clicking here and signing the petition is so important.

Over the next few months, my goal is to gather up to 100,000 petitions from Second Amendment supporters just like you so that we can FLOOD the Legislature with these petitions and show every elected official in Denver you and I mean business.

Then, using mail, email and phone banks, I plan to recruit an additional 50,000 Second Amendment supporters all across Colorado to help join in this fight.

And when the fight really begins to heat up, my hope is to run targeted newspaper and radio ads to help us get the votes to put us over the top.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid even all this won’t be enough.

If you and I want to DEFEAT the gun-grabbers’ anti-gun lobby, we must be prepared to push on every front.

None of these tactics will be cheap. So I must ask for your generous financial support, as well.

Mandatory begging for bucks link.

GOA Mid-year Report

August 22, 2012
“Thank you for making activism so easy!  I can’t say enough how great a help it is to have the ‘contact your reps’ section on the GOA site!  It makes it very easy for me to let those people in Congress know that we ARE out here and that we aren’t going away!” — MM, South Dakota
Gun Owners of America is fighting for your rights on all fronts — the political battle in Congress and in the legislatures around the country, the educational battle for the hearts and minds of Americans, and the legal battle to improve our standing in the courts.
Congress is currently on recess, and this means that now is a good time to reflect upon our recent accomplishments … together.  After all, legislators will soon return, trying to limit magazine capacities, moving to confirm anti-gun judges, and trying to sneak through any kind of restriction they can in huge budget bills.
In the fog of war, it might appear like we are always on the defensive.  But that’s because the media will not remind you about the victories we’ve achieved this year or the defeats the Obama administration has suffered.  Sure, we’ve taken a few licks ourselves, but we’ve won a lot more battles than we’ve lost.
So as Congress gets ready to come back into session soon, get ready for the fight of your life — especially, the battle to kill gun control legislation and to get pro-gun candidates elected.  And please be encouraged as you reflect on the highlights of what we’ve accomplished so far this year.
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
January
Supreme Court triumph!  The year begins with a stunning victory in U.S. v. Jones, a case where Gun Owners of America filed a brief.  The Supreme Court unanimously sided with GOA in finding that the placement of a Global Positioning Device on an automobile constitutes a “search” for purposes of the Fourth Amendment.
This decision will have dramatic ramifications for gun owners, as it strengthens Fourth Amendment protections which keep firearms safe from illegal “search and seizures.”
Muzzling of Gun Owners stopped.  In the Congress, GOA wins a battle against efforts to “muzzle the web.”  GOA hails the victory, as media outlets report that an amazing outpouring of opposition has resulted in Congress’ postponing the vote on so-called “anti-piracy” legislation.
In its final form, the legislation could have affected your ability to receive gun-related information from websites like GOA’s — allowing the Brady Campaign to shut down our GOA website and our organization (plus many other pro-gun websites) with a series of factually accurate, but legally frivolous complaints.
Spotlight on Fast & Furious.  With Attorney General Eric Holder set to testify in Congress soon, Gun Owners of America fires up its grassroots network and continues calling for justice.  At issue is the fact that Eric Holder oversaw Fast & Furious, an operation which put thousands of guns into the hands of Mexican drug traffickers and which resulted in hundreds of innocent deaths.
The Obama administration hoped to use the collateral damage from these firearms to demonize American gun rights and to justify additional gun restrictions in the US.
GOA addresses sheriffs.  GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt speaks to hundreds of sheriffs, giving them many concrete examples of local interposition against out-of-control federal bureaucrats.  This encouraged many sheriffs who admitted they had never even considered the authority they possess as the nation’s top elected law-enforcement officials.
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
February-March (Part One)
Having returned from encouraging sheriffs to engage in interposition, GOA jumps into a fight to nullify the recently-enacted National Defense Authorization Act.  The NDAA could impact all Americans, including gun owners, by allowing them to be indefinitely detained without trial, based on simple membership in certain pro-gun groups.
Nullifying the NDAA.  In Virginia, Delegate Bob Marshall (R) thanks GOA for helping push (into law) his important bill authorizing Virginia to nullify the federal NDAA.
“Twenty-four hours after the Virginia State Senate nearly killed my bill, thousands of Virginians [made] their views known,” Del. Marshall said.  “Groups [like] Gun Owners of America … all publicly endorsed HB 1160” — thereby, keeping the bill alive so it could eventually make its way to the governor’s desk.
GOA fighting for “constitutional carry” at the state level.  Gun Owners of America fought to liberalize carry laws around the country, so that Americans can conceal firearms without getting a permit, license or permission from state bureaucrats.  In South Dakota, GOA helps push a “constitutional carry” bill all the way to the governor’s desk.  Sadly, Gov. Dennis Daugaard (D) vetoes the bill, and the House subsequently fails to override.
GOA speaks to college students.  GOA spokesmen travelled all across the country this year speaking to legislators or to citizens at local rallies.  In February, GOA Director of Communications Erich Pratt goes on the firing line in Texas, debating students on the right to keep and bear arms.
Many students say that their views were changed because of the symposium.  As stated by one:  “You have given me more of an interest in my rights and changed my views on how I defend myself.”
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
February-March (Part Two)
GOA on Fox Cable News.  GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt goes on Fox News to debate gun rights issues with hostess, Megyn Kelly, and a representative from an anti-gun organization.  Among the issues discussed was whether George Zimmerman acted in self-defense in Florida and why gun sales were spiking around the country.
GOA fighting for “constitutional carry” at the federal level.  One of the big pushes in recent years has been to pass reciprocity legislation at the federal level, so that armed gun owners can travel freely from state to state.  Sadly, many of the bills would not protect so-called “constitutional carry” states, where citizens can carry without getting licenses.
Late last year, the House of Representatives passed weak legislation that would NOT protect constitutional carry states.  So GOA springs into action to get a no-compromise version introduced in the Senate.
GOA’s efforts pay off handsomely when Senators John Thune (R-SD) and David Vitter (R-LA) sponsor S. 2213, a bill that would allow non-licensed persons (from constitutional carry states) to tote firearms across state lines.  Not only that, GOA combines a lobbying and grassroots campaign that results in Thune and Vitter getting ten times as many cosponsors as the compromise version, which was introduced by Democrat Senator Mark Begich of Alaska.
Hence, the bill that YOU lobbied for is now the 800-pound gorilla in the Senate!
GOA’s petition-drive to light a fire under Speaker Boehner.  Media reports indicate that House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) may be getting cold feet when it comes to holding Attorney General Eric Holder accountable for his role in Operation Fast & Furious.
Gun Owners of America launches a petition drive to let Speaker Boehner know that millions of gun owners are behind any and all House efforts to discipline or remove Holder.
One-gun-a-month restriction bites the dust.  GOA celebrates the demise of a handgun rationing law that it has fought against for roughly 20 years.  It all began in the early 1990s, when GOA launched an intensive campaign to kill the one-gun-a-month proposal in Virginia.
While the rationing proposal ultimately passed, GOA’s grassroots pressure succeeded in flipping several votes in the legislature to the pro-gun side.  GOA also launched an intensive campaign to punish Republicans who had voted in favor of the bill.  Some were forced to retire, while others quietly flipped to the pro-gun side.
To wit:  Current Gov. Bob McDonnell was one of those who initially voted for the one-gun-a-month bill, but now, has done an about-face in signing its repeal into law.  GOA thanks the Virginia Citizens Defense League, the state gun rights organization which did the heavy lifting this year in mobilizing support for the law’s repeal.
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
April-May
GOA goes to bat for Stand Your Ground laws.  GOA appears on Fox Cable News to defend Stand Your Ground legislation, after these laws come under fierce attack following the Zimmerman-Martin shooting in Florida.
GOA also launches a national petition drive asking Florida Governor Scott to resist and, if necessary, veto any legislation that would repeal the state’s Stand your Ground law allowing citizens to use deadly force to defend themselves and their loved ones.
GOA helps defeat the most anti-gun Republican in the Senate.  Gun Owners of America helps defeat anti-gun Sen. Dick Lugar in Indiana’s primary.  GOA’s Political Victory Fund endorsed his “A”-rated challenger, Richard Mourdock, early this year and has strongly backed his campaign ever since.
Mourdock thanked GOA, saying, “I can’t thank Gun Owners of America enough for their early support of my campaign.”
Deep-sixing anti-gun judges.  GOA has rallied the grassroots to fight against many of Barack Obama’s judicial appointments.  The most recent battle is still ongoing, as GOA is providing ground troop support for Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) who is currently blocking Judge Elissa Cadish from being considered by the Senate.
In the past, Judge Cadish has indicated that she doesn’t believe there is an individual right to keep and bear arms — a position which has invited the ire of the gun-owning community.
Fighting UN gun control.  With the United Nations getting closer to its July deadline of wrapping up the Arms Trade Treaty, GOA steps up its attack on the gun control accord.
Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) is working to line up Senators against the ATT.  Initially, only about 20 Senators are willing to sign Moran’s letter, which is addressed to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama.  So GOA pledges to launch a national campaign to get Senator Moran more signatories before the deadline in July.
Efforts to nullify the NDAA in the Grand Canyon State.  Similar to our efforts in Virginia, GOA lobbied to nullify the National Defense Authorization Act in Arizona.  The good news is that the legislature sent the bill to Gov. Jan Brewer’s desk.  The bad news?  Gov. Brewer vetoed the bill.
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
June
For months, GOA has been pressing Congress to hold the Attorney General accountable for his cover-up of Fast & Furious and for his war against the Second Amendment.  Given that the House Speaker is reportedly trying to postpone or delay action against Eric Holder, GOA continues to pursue other options for bringing him to justice.
GOA files suit, continues pursuing justice in Fast & Furious.  In early June, the foundation of Gun Owners of America files suit in the U.S. District Court for D.C. to compel ATF to produce thousands of documents related to Operation Fast & Furious.
If the court finds in favor of the GOF complaint, the ATF will have to produce the requested documents or face “contempt of court” charges, which could result in Justice Department officials spending time in jail.
House finds Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.  GOA thanks its grassroots activists for all their hard work on the heels of two key House votes on June 28, when Eric Holder is held in civil and criminal contempt of Congress.
The House leadership had been resistant to pushing a contempt citation — claiming it was a distraction during an election year.  But the continual outpouring of grassroots support proved essential to countering this thinking and, ultimately, encouraging the House leadership to do the right thing.
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
July
GOA media campaign in wake of Colorado shooting.  The nation reels in horror after learning that 12 people were gunned down in an Aurora theater — a so-called “gun free zone” — during the midnight showing of The Dark Night Rises.
Given that anti-gunners are now using this tragedy to push their agenda, GOA launches a media campaign to inform Americans on the truth behind guns and crime:
* GOA opinion columns and interviews appear in several outlets around the country, including US News & World Report, The Washington Times and CNN.com.
* GOA spokesmen appear on dozens of electronic media outlets, including National Public Radio and Spanish outlets like CNN Español.
Over and over, GOA emphasizes that Gun Free Zones actually embolden killers, who frequently choose these disarmament zones to perpetrate their crimes.  But guns in good people’s hands often bring attempted massacres to a screeching halt.
GOA continues rallying the nation against UN gun control.  GOA’s Larry Pratt appears on Fox Cable News to raise Americans’ awareness of the impending Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) that is scheduled to be completed later this month.
Plus, GOA continues pressing more Senators to sign onto Sen. Jerry Moran’s letter opposing the ATT.  After a slow start, the grassroots “heat” generates a total of 50 co-signatories by the time Moran sends his letter to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Grassroots pressure kills UN treaty for the year.  Media reports cite the Jerry Moran letter (mentioned above) as one of the primary reasons the administration got “cold feet” and pulled its support for the UN treaty at the last minute.
But it was the grassroots which help Moran get a treaty-killing 50 co-signatures onto the letter — and it was that number (including the fact that several Democrat Senators were on the letter) which convince the administration that pushing this gun control treaty will cost it dearly in an election year.
GOA wins three important elections.  With several primaries occurring around the country on July 31, Gun Owners of America jumps behind three important candidates, all of whom win their respective run-offs or primaries:  Ted Cruz for Texas Senate, Steve Stockman for House District 36 in Texas, and Rep. Paul Broun in Georgia.
If each of them wins in the general election on November 6, Congress will not be the same next year, as all three are pro-gun leaders with proven track records!
Your support helps keep Gun Owners of America in the game — fighting for your gun rights.
Thanks again to everyone for fighting in the trenches with us!

WYOMING ELECTION: Representative Kendell Kroeker

August 15, 2012
Wyoming State Representative Kendell Kroeker is at the head of the pack when it comes to defending your freedoms, particularly the Second Amendment.
Rep. Kroeker earned an A+ rating with Gun Owners of America for his leadership in pushing the state’s Constitutional Carry law and pushing for a strong preemption law to prevent local governments from infringing on your gun rights.
The Constitutional Carry bill supported by Rep. Kroeker treats concealed carry as a RIGHT, instead of a privilege granted by the government.
Thanks to the bill pushed by Rep. Kroeker and others, Cowboy State citizens can carry a concealed firearm without first having to obtain permission from government bureaucrats.
And Rep. Kroeker authored a preemption bill HB 60) that would have prevented municipalities from passing gun control laws that contradict state law.
Rep. Kroeker’s bill (which unfortunately came up two votes short this year) would put “teeth” into existing state law by imposing heavy fines and removal from office for local politicians who would pass local ordinances such as “gun free zones.”
Given his record in defending freedom, it is no wonder that Rep. Kroeker was rated “The Most Liberty-Friendly Member of the House” by the Wyoming Liberty Group, and it is also no surprise that he is targeted by moderates for defeat in the August 21st Republican primary.
If you live in House District 35 (Natrona County), defend freedom by casting your vote for Kendell Kroeker, a proven and trusted friend.
You can also help Kendell by forwarding this message to your friends and joining the conversation on Kendell’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kendell-Kroeker-Wyoming-House-District-35/111603015518585.
Thank you for standing with Kendell Kroeker in an election that is important to gun owners in Wyoming.
Sincerely,
Tim Macy

Gun Control; The hidden agenda of the epic failure obama regime

July 27, 2012

Fast and Furious was a pretty blatant attempt by the obama regime to stoke the fires for advancing the cause of hoplophobia in these not so United States. Any time any restrictions are placed upon The Bill of Rights, on any of those rights, it weakens all the others. That said, it is the Second Amendment that protects all of those other rights from an overpowering and abusive government.

Since the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado happened there has been yet again a resurrection of cries and lamentations pleading for more restrictions on we the peoples ability to properly and effectively defend ourselves, our families, friends, and nation. These misguided pleas are little more than emotional gambits that would truly lessen freedom and liberty while in fact exposing all of us to even more danger without the ability to defend ourselves.

Again, we hear about automatic weapons that were not used and are nearly impossible to acquire legally here in the United States. We hear that so called Assault Rifles have no legitimate uses outside the realm of the military or law enforcement. Some people are so misinformed that even responding to such arguments exposes one to the dangers of lowering oneself to their level of ignorance. Or about the evils of high capacity magazines (called clips by the ignoramuses) by those that have never apparently heard of “swam attacks.”

All the old false arguments about gun ownership are always, once again, raised as well. Hopefully the American people have not been so brainwashed as to believe things like a gun in the home will most likely be used against you. Or that a gun will not help fend off rapes or other assaults.

Then there are all the utterly ridiculous arguments about the militia clause of the Second Amendment.

This, from Texas Fred’s Blog is an excellent comment;

obama’s quote…

“I believe the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms,” Obama said. “But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities.”

I could NOT agree more with him. I also believe that every American is a member of the militia and a soldier for America when the time comes and when the situation demands it of them. Because for me, the 2nd Amendment means that if America is attacked by its enemies, foreign or DOMESTIC, that my right to bear arms entitles me to have the ability to defend her. I in essence become a soldier with the duty to protect my country and the 2nd Amendment assures me the proper tools to do my duty.

And as for the statement that the AK 47 is best suited for the battlefield is also a true. A battlefield is not a specific area or terrain…it is the place where the enemy is met and confronted. A battlefield is wherever the fighting takes place. So, my AK47 is suited for wherever in America I choose to be.

To be honest, I don’t believe ANY regulation on firearms should be allowed. I believe our Founding Fathers wanted us to be on an even keel at all times with all of our potential enemies. Back then, the enemy had muskets and so did we. As progress of the firearm came about, so should our right to have the best arms we can.

If our potential enemies had high capacity magazines or full auto weapons, so should We The People have this same ability. We can not be an effective and well regulated militia if we have inferior weapons to those of our enemies. I am sure that our Founding Fathers did not expect future generations to fight a tyrannical govt or any enemy that could outshoot us or mow us down with little or no effort. That is why they used the word “ARMS”, to include ALL weapons. I do believe that weapons of mass destruction should certainly be regulated. However, I can not help but think that the regulation of our everyday firearms, such as caliber size, magazine capacity, rapid fire, size of weapon, barrel length, silencers and so on, is in direct violation of the 2nd Amendment as our Founding Fathers intended. All of this nonsense was created by liberals who inch by inch, convinced the American people these moves were necessary to protect us. In reality, ever regulation has made us less and less able to resist those that would seek to control us and take our rights away from us.

As I am sure everyone here knows fully well, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting or even about personal protection against home invaders or muggers. Yes, those are legitimate purposes to be recognized, but our 2nd Amendment is about Americans being allowed to maintain the ability to retain all other rights gratned to us by GOD. About our ability to fight, on an even footing, all enemies that want to take away our freedoms and force us into submission.

During the Revolution, We The People owned muskets as did our enemy, the British. Could you imagine us winning the Revolution if we were regulated into having less than the same arms as the British? It would have been very difficult if not impossible to win this war that was the birth of America. If not for the right to keep and bear arms, we would all still be be drinking tea and shouting long live the queen. Well, every regulation that has been put in place regarding firearms have slowly eroded our ability to oppose a tyrannical goverment. If the time ever came, (And I seriously hope it NEVER does), We The People will be at a huge disadvantage. The arms our govt allows us to have now are nowhere equally matched against those we would have to fight against if a tyrant commanding our military wanted to disarm us.

Of some concern is the fact that would our soldiers and law enforcment officers ever raise their arms and use them on everyday Americans? Would they really disarm We The People after having sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution? I hope not.

However, Hitler convinced countless German soldiers to do exactly that. These soldiers swore allegiance to Hitler and killed their own countrymen. They killed them by the millions under the orders of their leader. How did so many become convinced to do this? Willingly? Did none of them have a conscience? They had weapons so why did none of them turn them on Hitler and his henchmen directly?

So, having history as my lesson, I worry that it could happen again. I bet that proud German citizens never thought that fellow Germans in uniform would kill them…but it happened. I have even read that German jews that proudly served in uniform for Germany in WWI were killed as well. Nothing protected you if Hitler and his troops wanted you dead. This is one reason I find it particularly odd when I hear jewish Americans shout for gun control. Do they not realize what they are saying?

Could history like this really repeat itself? Have we learned from it? I would like to, but we are human and just as humans have done for thousands of generations, we always seem to make the same mistakes over and over. Could it happen again?

We are living in interesting times. I know that during every election it is said that this is the most important one. However, I think it is a fact this time.

I have read much about all of our presidents throughout American history and even though I have not agreed with the ideaology of some of them, I do believe that every one of our presidents in the past loved America. That they were doing what they believed was best for Americans, at least to some degree. Of course, corruption in our government has always existed, but these were almost always for personal gain and cronism. This is the first time that I feel we have a president in office, along with other HIGH ranking politicians that truly do HATE America and want to destroy it. That they really have never been proud of their country their entire adult lives. That it is more than just about stealing our treasury for their own person gain or taking action for more power and control. For the first time, I am almost positive that those in charge want more than wealth and power, they want to DESTROY America.

Just like those evil individuals of history who hated their fellow countrymen so much that they threw open the gates to their country’s enemies that have led to complete destruction, obama wants to do the same. Just remember his quote to the russian ambassador not that long ago. Look at the policies and laws he is enacting that make us more and more vulnerable. Not only is he working to disarm the people, he is working diligently to dismantle our military and destroy our nukes. What is he doing, and why is he allowed to do this?

I think obma is a lackey of someone with even more power and influence and that obama is a pawn that will be discarded after his purpose has been fulfilled. I used to not believe in conspiracy theories and thought that only wackos would think like this. No more.

I hope I am merely being paranoid. I hope that we have a legitimate election that sees obama out the door. An election that keeps and takes our senate and house. And that Romney does the things he has promised. Until November elections are passed and even more so, that Romney is sworn in, I will remain slightly uneasy. They say that good always triumphs over evil…I hope they are right.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty WILL restrict your gun rights

July 10, 2012

As GOA reported before the holiday break, the United Nations has begun discussions over finalizing language in the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) — talks that are expected to last all month.

Senator Moran has prepared a letter, which GOA has in its possession, demanding that the Obama Administration oppose any treaty that would sacrifice Americans’ gun rights — even if it means “breaking consensus” at the July conference.

“We are concerned that the Arms Trade Treaty poses dangers to rights protected under the Second Amendment,” Senator Moran says in his letter.

You have to ratify the ATT to see what’s in it

Despite the risks to our liberties, there is much double-speak taking place at the UN.  The talks in New York are reminiscent of the process that Americans saw with the passage of ObamaCare. Remember Nancy Pelosi’s famous quip: “You have to pass the [health care] bill so you can see what is in it”?

In similar fashion, the gun control details in the ATT will “not be publicly available” until the treaty has been agreed to by all the member nations.

It makes you wonder if Pelosi is being paid as a consultant at these meetings.

Make no mistake about it; UN officials are using secrecy to their advantage, claiming the treaty will not infringe upon the rights of individual gun owners.  They claim the treaty only deals with international transfers of firearms.

But Moran counters that the treaty will expand federal gun controls and lead to the registration of firearms.

The Arms Trade Treaty WILL restrict your gun rights

The Moran letter quotes a draft of the treaty, noting that it requires nations to “monitor and control” arms in transit and to prohibit the unauthorized “transfer of arms from any location” — a requirement, he says, that implies a huge “expansion of federal firearms controls that would be unacceptable on Second Amendment grounds.”

And the draft version of the treaty calls for the creation of a “U.N.-based firearms registry for all firearms that are either imported into or transit across national territory.”  Can you imagine any greater infringement of your privacy … giving UN bureaucrats the “right” to collect information on you as a gun owner?

Some 130 Representatives sent their own letter to the President on Monday reminding him that the Second Amendment guarantees the “fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms” and declaring that the U.S. has no business supporting a treaty that infringes on the Bill of Rights.

The House letter is a good first step, but getting a similar one sent from the Senate is even more important.  After all, IT’S THE SENATE — and not the House — which must ratify the ATT.

Since the treaty will be finalized later this month, it is very important for Senator Moran to get at least 34 Senators on his letter — meaning he would have enough votes to prevent the treaty’s ratification.

ACTIONPlease click here to send a message urging your Senators to sign on to the Moran letter right away.  Senator Moran’s office says that Senators have been very slow to respond to his request for more signatories.  But he needs these signatures right away!

“A right delayed is a right denied.”

March 1, 2012
BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today condemned Democrat members of the Iowa House of Representatives for leaving the capitol rather than debate , and possibly vote on, two pro-gun measures affirming the right to keep and bear arms, and the right of self-defense.

As reported by the Des Moines Register, “Iowa Democrats…left the Capitol in protest of two gun bills the Republican majority had planned to debate today…” House Joint Resolution 2009 proposes an amendment to the state constitution that includes a specific right to keep and bear arms. House Bill 2215 is a “stand-your-ground” measure that would expand the use of reasonable force to include lethal force, to resist grave bodily harm or death.

“Once again,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “Democrats have painted themselves as the party of gun control by disappearing rather than debating measures to strengthen the firearm civil rights of Iowa citizens.”

Gottlieb is co-author of These Dogs Don’t Hunt: The Democrats’ War on Guns with Dave Workman. He noted that Democrats claim they were ‘double-crossed’ because the bills were scheduled for debate today, allegedly not giving them adequate time to prepare amendments. Yet, he said, it was reported that they had already offered at least one amendment to one of the bills.

“We are disappointed,” he said, “that once again Democrats choose to be disingenuous about ducking out on gun owners. It is a sad example of legislative cowardice, since both bills will likely pass the Republican-controlled House. Iowa’s Democrat caucus can’t run away from that and live in denial.

“It is telling that Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky referred to both of these measures as ‘dangerous bills’ when she spoke with the Des Moines Register,” Gottlieb noted. “There is nothing dangerous about protecting a civil right already delineated in several state constitutions and the Bill of Rights, nor is there anything dangerous about expanding the self-defense rights of Hawkeye State citizens. Democrats are living in denial if they think they can delay these measures into obscurity.

“I will remind them of the words spoken by Dr. Martin Luther King,” he concluded. “A right delayed is a right denied.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. Representative Tom Lubnau (R-Gillette) Speaks with forked tongue

February 20, 2012

In an interview on Glenn Woods radio show (AM1270 in Gillette) Representative Tom Lubnau (R-Gillette) stated that HB-60 preemption reform legislationwas a “crazy gun bill”.

Of course Lubnau says he didn’t shoot down the bill –Reality Check– the bill failed 2 votes shy of the 2/3rds majority – 38-21. And YES Lubnau was a no vote!

Click here to listen Glenn Woods AM1270 — Tom Lubnau

In a stupendous reach he also said- “I’m not going to place police officers in jeopardy of being fired for going up to a suicidal person and saying, ‘Why don’t you put that gun down’”.

Using scare tactics regularly echoed by the gun control crowd, Lubnau has now reached a new plateau as he untruthfully suggested that all common sense would be thrown out the window if this bill advanced.

HB-60 is virtually identical to a bill that was signed into law by Florida’s governor — putting an end to three decades of local government crushing the citizen’s right to keep and bear arms.

Incredibly during his interview Lubnau also defended his “so-called” pro-gun position while adding he is in Cheyenne to read the bills. But don’t be fooled!

Because soon afterwards, the “Republican Floor Leader” slithered back to his previous mode of operation.

Here it comes. Wait for it…

The “Republican” floor leader is now supporting one of the largest expansions of gun free zones in Wyoming.

HB-70 a bill that is disguised as a court security measure — when in fact it specifies a change to current statute making “All COUNTY BUILDINGS containing a district or circuit court” a gun free zone or better named “criminal safe zone”.

This legislation will relocate the “secured area” of the court room to the “front door of the county building”. Please forgive me for being redundant…If HB-70 passes it will be one of the largest expansions of gun free zones in Wyoming ever witnessed.

So much for Tom Lubnau “reading the bills in our best interest” and being (in his own words) an “ardent supporter of your gun rights” — Since he now is advancing legislation that goes hand in hand with a proposal by anti-gun Gillette Mayor who wants a similar gun ban on all city property.

By the way, when I confronted anti-gun Mayor Tom Murphy about his gun ban, he responded by boiling over and sticking his finger in my face.

It appears that Lubnau is working for his local government officials in “Gillette” instead of defending the rights of the voters that elected him to office.

Wyoming Gun Owners is the ONLY gun rights organization working at this level — Exposing anti-gun politicians, lobbying to pass pro gun legislation and working to stop all gun control in Wyoming.

I stand by my statement — Representative Tom Lubnau the “Republican floor leader” should step down and let someone else take the helm.

Used by permission.

Yet another politician wants to change our state into a Free Fire Zone for criminals! His stated reasons, are as usual, illogical and based upon some distorted sense of political correctness. We, the people of Wyoming need better from our leaders. Think about it folks. The gang bangers are not just in Cheyenne where there is a tremendous amount of law enforcement. They have spread out all across our state, and it is only a matter of time before something disastrous happens.

Courts only..? Just how long will that last? Not to mention that the man literally insults the intelligence of our Police Officers. Even a dumb Paramedic like me knows better than to just walk up to a suicidal person with a gun… Blue suicide..? The steps leading up to the Courthouse work just as well for that.

Will the next Columbine or Virginia State happen here? Don’t think for one second that this will remain only a Court building thing. If so will only the criminals be lawfully armed until the Police arrive? Two or three minutes is a VERY long time when some misfit is armed with a full auto weapon that is practicing the spray and pray method of marksmanship.

We, the people of Wyoming need to hold our leaders feet to the fire whenever they practice the politics of political correctness, and I call upon every single member of  Mr. Lubnau’s district to give him an earful over this. Then, come next election cycle, send him back home and remind him about why he is there at home at every opportunity!
