Seems as though this solution to the high cost of courting works for them, as disgusting as it appears to others. I mean? The money is one thing, but she better be very exceptional if a cow is also included in the bride price! ( Joke)
One of the most troubled regions in the world is about to have yet another round of warfare. Will this suceed in pacifying the area? I seriously doubt that it will. After all, when has there been peace there in all of known history?

Where do I start..? Some here know of my background, and that may lend some credence to what I say. For others it will hinder that! 
I am a former FEMA Mass Casualty Incident Planner/Trainer among other things. I traveled to Africa,Europe and Israel several times learning about these sorts of things. We developed contingency plans for just about every scenario possible. That the veritable book that was written gets tossed every time something happens is not the fault of the people that prepared for what we know will happen some day. It is the fault of those that have their collective heads stuck in the sand, from Columbine to Katrina, that has been the rule.
It is also true that here in the Denver area, we are a target rich environment, especially what with the DNC being held here next year. I will not comment on what things are being explored as possible responses to the myriad possibilities.
I will comment though that I believe that there is simply not enough being done that would preempt a strike. So bomb dogs are trained differently by different agencies? So what, that is a strength in that it makes it more difficult for the bad guys to learn how to circumvent them. So behavioral studies are not complete? So what, you might just catch some creep that you did train for. So the people of America will burn out on being cautious and reporting suspicious behavior? So what, an awareness campaign just might be key to saving a lot of lives.
Folks, when it comes to our safety and freedom here in America, I simply refuse to lose.

I came across this well researched and finely written piece this morning. It tells the stories of the lessor known signers of the Declaration of Independence.
I fully expect to get hammered by the Hate America First Brigade, as I also expect the blog that I found this in to be. Having said that; Those men suffered for the freedoms that we enjoy today, many did in fact die for them. These were not, just a bunch of “Old dead white men” as they are so often characterized. They had hopes, and dreams. As well as honor, and no small amount of raw courage.
When, I ask, have the NeoComms ( My term for Neo Communist) done anything that even comes close to what the men written about did?

On June 28, 2005, deep behind enemy lines east of Asadabad in the Hindu Kush of Afghanistan, a very committed four-man Navy SEAL team was conducting a reconnaissance mission at the unforgiving altitude of approximately 10,000 feet. The SEALs, Lt. Michael Murphy, Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class (SEAL) Danny Dietz, Sonar Technician 2nd Class (SEAL) Matthew Axelson and Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class (SEAL) Marcus Luttrell had a vital task. The four SEALs were scouting Ahmad Shah – a terrorist in his mid-30s who grew up in the adjacent mountains just to the south. Under the assumed name Muhammad Ismail, Shah led a guerrilla group known to locals as the “Mountain Tigers” that had aligned with the Taliban and other militant groups close to the Pakistani border. The SEAL mission was compromised when the team was spotted by local nationals, who presumably reported its presence and location to the Taliban. A fierce firefight erupted between the four SEALs and a much larger enemy force of more than 50 anti-coalition militia. The enemy had the SEALs outnumbered. They also had terrain advantage. They launched a well-organized, three-sided attack on the SEALs. The firefight continued relentlessly as the overwhelming militia forced the team deeper into a ravine. Trying to reach safety, the four men, now each wounded, began bounding down the mountain’s steep sides, making leaps of 20 to 30 feet. Approximately 45 minutes into the fight, pinned down by overwhelming forces, Dietz, the communications petty officer, sought open air to place a distress call back to the base. But before he could, he was shot in the hand, the blast shattering his thumb. |

Another school shooting occurred on Wednesday, this time in Cleveland, Ohio. A 14-year-old student at the school walked the hallways with two revolvers shooting what police believe to be specifically chosen targets. The student had been suspended two days earlier and apparently went looking for two teachers, both of whom are in stable condition after being shot. Two students were shot as well but are also in stable condition. After only a few minutes of violence, the student, who had been arrested last year for domestic violence, turned a gun on himself.
Undoubtedly, as these tragic instances always do, this shooting will lead to further calls for gun control, as if guns themselves were the problem. If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times: It’s not a gun problem, it’s a culture problem.

I myself think caution would be the best approach. Al Qaeda has, worldwide, had an amazing ability to stage come backs. Always in a very deadly fashion. What I am thinking, is that they are laying low in Iraq, and shifting influence toward other areas of the world. My self and others said from the beginning of the operations in Iraq that we thought that it was a mistake. Did Saddam and his murdering brood need to be eliminated? Certainly that is so, but we already had our a tiger by the tail in Afghanistan. We needed to finish that fight before going out looking for another one to get into. Now, it is being reported that the Taliban, and Al Qaeda are coming back in a strong way there.

Eric over at The Tygrrrr Express wrote a contrast comparison piece that was simply delightful in nature. Naturally, he took a bit of a beating for doing so. It comes with the territory in this politically correct day and age. He was mostly challenged by people that took the Morally Superior tact that so often makes Vegetarians believe that they hold the keys to Eminence in mind, body, and spirit.
I am very busy this week, and so will be delayed in fully commenting about these things. However, I surely will do so in the near future.
Well, now that I have some time…
I have found it just short of amazing over the years how various people claim to have moral superiority because they are from the anti hunting, and or vegetarian camp. Guess what? Human beings, are predators. They always have been, and always will be so. It is not simply something that is hard wired into our brains, it is also physiologically based. The eyes of the human being are spread apart, and impart binocular vision. Just as are the eyes of Lions, Tigers, Wolves and other predators. Prey animals tend to have eye spacing that allows to see in nearly all directions at once, the better to see and react to danger it is theorized. Humans have within the digestive tract three digestive enzymes. Two break down animal proteins and fats very effectively. One, comparably inefficient enzyme breaks down plant matter. For optimal health humans need a balance of both basic nutrition sources.
As for those that hate hunters, and then attempt to heap upon them abuse of all sorts, I have this to say: The animals that you claim to love have in fact had more assistance in surviving, from hunters through taxes paid, and work donated than any other force on earth. Deny that, fine, just come up with the numbers and a reputable citation. Hunters use virtually all of any animal that they harvest wasting very little in the process. Please note that “Poachers” are criminals, not HUNTERS. Hunters strive for clean kills, and do their best to minimize an animals suffering. Disagree? Fine, come up with any reputable code of ethics directed toward hunters that can be substantiated that states otherwise.
