a “pro-gun” patsy

May 28, 2014

You may have seen NAGR’s e-mail a few weeks ago where we publicly exposed Alan Gottlieb’s compromises of your Second Amendment rights.

And we called it what it is: endorsing gun control, and leading the fight for national gun registration.

This isn’t anything new.  Alan Gottlieb did the exact same thing last year during the post-Newtown, Connecticut tragedy battle in the U.S. Senate.

It amazed everyone at the time, but Alan Gottlieb proclaimed he helped write the Toomey-Manchin Universal Background Check bill.

You remember that legislation — it forced every firearm sale in America to go through the Brady system, which is, plain and simple, national gun registration.

What else do you call going through a government-mandated system to beg permission to practice what is supposed to be a right — with the records being kept by varying levels of government agents for later retrieval?

That’s gun registration.  And since it’s a federal bill in Congress, forcing all states to do it, it’s national.

National + Gun Registration = National Gun Registration.

But don’t take my word for it; take Alan Gottlieb’s word.

Here’s what was written in the Second Amendment Foundation’s (SAF) “The Gottlieb Tartaro Report” Issue 137, May, 2006:

Rabidly anti-gun Sen. FRANK LAUTENBERG (D-NJ) has introduced S. 843, “to establish background check procedures for gun shows,” which in fact is a massive gun registration program of incredibly dangerous scope. (highlight added)

Here, we agree with Alan Gottlieb; forcing all sales at gun shows to go through a Brady check is “a massive gun registration program.”  And yes, it’s incredibly dangerous.

Or look at the SAF report from Dec. 6, 2001, when Gottlieb wrote:

The fact is, Charles Schumer always envisioned the Brady Law as a gun registration scheme, and he has seized on this opportunity to lament that the NICS records are strictly off-limits for that kind of political skullduggery.

Well said.  It’s a registration scheme — and now Gottlieb himself is leading the charge to pass it.

The good news is that we killed Toomey-Manchin . . . for now.

But it was darn close.  Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, and Barack Obama nearly got their way and forced Brady Registration on every American.

To pass this gun control, they needed a “pro-gun” patsy to give them cover.

Enter Alan Gottlieb.

Had it passed — when Alan Gottlieb claimed he helped write it — we could have called that the “Gottlieb law,” forcing every private sale in America to go through Brady prior to transfer . . . and thus register their guns.

And rather than celebrate the victory over Toomey-Manchin, and build a bulwark against any further attempts, Alan Gottlieb’s response is that it’s inevitable, and we should support it.

Had he asked me, I would tell Alan Gottlieb to publicly apologize for playing such a prominent role in passing gun control, and be elated that it didn’t pass.

Now that he’s being called out for his compromises, Alan Gottlieb is using silly and childish antics, and even threatening to sue.

That might have worked with others in the past, but the truth is always a defense.

And all you have to do is watch either video to see that Alan Gottlieb isn’t fighting against universal background checks.

Given his fervor to pass national gun registration, we have to ask some questions:

What other gun controls does Alan Gottlieb think Americans should pass, since they are inevitable?

No, we won’t agree to his compromises.

And we won’t remain silent about them, either.

P.S. The President of the Second Amendment Foundation Alan Gottlieb is banging the drums for a new expanded federal gun registration bill.  Alan Gottlieb says gun owners should “compromise” with the gun-grabbers.

We say “NO!” and stand ready to fight back against gun control at every opportunity.

TRUE COLORS; THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION AGAIN STABS MEMBERS IN THE BACK!

May 15, 2014
Dear Friend,
Wow! What a way to start a week, snow clogging up I-80 delaying travel to the interim committee meeting in Rawlins.Just getting to the pavement from my snow drift covered gravel road became an obstacle.

Fortunately by 4:30 pm Monday I was on the road to Rawlins for the meeting that was rescheduled for Tuesday.

And here’s the Good News. Yesterday you WON in a serious gun control skirmish…

As opposition was building in the committee room — I watched as the Interim Committee Chairman tabled Enhanced Background Checks, otherwise called FixNICS.

This ONLY happened because of one simple reason.

Without informed gun owners like you, the lobbyists and lawmakers that push for gun control may have ‘had their way’ in Rawlins.

Of course this dangerous legislation originally introduced by Senator Fred Emerich — may likely re-emerge during the next general session.

Here’s what happened in Rawlins Tuesday May 13th:

As I have been telling you all along, the Newtown Connecticut based National Sports Shooting Foundation (NSSF) is pushing Michael Bloomberg’s Gun Registration scheme here in Wyoming.

Dave Picard, a Wyoming based “lobbyist for hire”, testified on how badly this legislation was needed — and that with it the National Instant Check System (NICS) & previous federal gun control acts could be finally fixed.

And guess who was ‘flown in’ special for the gun control party?

NRA Lobbyist Dakota Moore (closest) and NSSF Lobbyist Dave Picard
in Rawlins WY testifying in favor of background check expansion

No other than the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) own lobbyist, Dakota Moore.

But the NRA was not here in Wyoming to testify against gun control.

Instead just the opposite — the NRA sat at the table with Dave Picard — and in FULL SUPPORT of “Enhancing Background Checks”.

The bill draft in question is 2014-SF111, which in the NSSF’s own words, “SF111 was our FixNICS legislation”.

I truly hate being the bearer of such bad news, but I have witnessed firsthand on several occasions — just how the NRA underhandedly works with Gun-Grabbers.

This is how the NRA rolls:

Let’s start with Wyoming Republican Sen. Fred Emerich who was handed an “A Rating” by the NRA in 2010. Please note that during the same time frame, Emerich REFUSED to answer WyGO’s gun rights survey.

Then after being elected and safely in the seat of power and during Senator Emerich’s first term in 2011, he voted against WyGO’s flagship legislation restoring the rights of Wyomingites to carry concealed without a permit.

During the entire 2011 legislative session Senator Emerich’s intentions were clear — whether as a committee member, or on the floor, Emerich voted with the gun control crowd every single time.

The fact that the NRA is now pushing a bill with Gun Grabber Fred Emerich is sooooo telling.

As I have stated in previous alerts – the NSSF’s ‘FixNIX.org’ website is strikingly similar to Bloomberg’s ‘Everytown.org’ gun-control website.

NSSF – FixNICS vs. Bloomberg’s Fatal Gaps

The hard truth is this: The NRA is aligned with Bloomberg’s push for gun control!

Read the NRA’s letter here

Read the NSSF’s letter here

Like Wolves in Sheep’s clothing — these dangerous NRA alliances have dominated the field in so many states. See the latest NSSF report here

And there’s this: A Capitol insider tells me that Dakota Moore, the NRA’s lobbyist stated the following- “we [the NRA] don’t work the same way that they [WyGO} do.”

Well, at least there’s one thing the NRA lobbyist gets right…

From the very founding of WyGO I have held that as Wyoming’s premier gun rights organization, we will NOT compromise, we will NOT accept breadcrumbs, and we will NOT get on our knees and kiss anyone’s boots.

Please review the above links provided so you too can help inform others about the NRA’s actions — while raising millions of dollars on the premise of defending gun rights, the NRA is pushing Bloomberg’s gun registration scheme.

And if you haven’t done so already, please consider contributing as generously as you can, to Wyoming Gun Owner, maybe $150, $75, $50, $25 or whatever you can afford, even just $5 — so WyGO can continue on its No-Compromise mission to protect and defend the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Wyoming.

Once again congratulations to you, and let me say this, I am proud to stand with the many No-Compromise members and supporters of WyGO.

No gun control petition: WYOMING Say no to Bloomberg as well as his minions!

April 28, 2014

Are your gun rights safe from lawmakers in Cheyenne?

The answer is NO.

Billionaire playboy ex-New York City Michael Bloomberg has set his sights on passing gun control in state legislatures across the country.

Bloomberg’s sinister group, Mayors Against Guns recently targeting Colorado and New Mexico, and I’m afraid Wyoming is next.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is the latest anti-gun scheme the gun-grabbers will push in Wyoming — because it’s already happening.

The Wyoming Legislature’s Interim Judiciary Committee could meet in as early as four weeks and the gun control crowd in the Capitol placed “background check reform” as a top priority!

See the gun control measure on the books for yourself here:
http://legisweb.state.wy.us/InterimCommittee/2014/01Topics.htm

And this was all Bloomberg’s staff and his deep pockets needed to start working to RAM through so-called “universal” or “expanded background checks in Wyoming.”

Don’t be fooled by the gun-grabbers’ LIES.  This is nothing more than GUN REGISTRATION, plain and simple.

With this issue coming up before a state Legislative Committee, and Bloomberg’s Executive Director for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Mark Glaze, telling reporters that passing new anti-gun restrictions here in Wyoming “would not be that hard!”

This is an all-out EMERGENCY.

Will you stand up and help defeat Bloomberg and his cronies before it’s too late?

If so, I hope you’ll take a moment to sign this petition below to your state lawmakers right away.

WHEREAS:

President Obama, ex-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and their gun control allies are trying to impose their radical anti-gun agenda on residents of Wyoming; and,

WHEREAS:

The right to keep-and-bear arms is protected by the Constitution of the State of Wyoming and the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”; and,

WHEREAS:

Gun rights supporters, like myself, strongly oppose gun control and will be paying close attention to all gubernatorial actions on new anti-gun schemes as well as any State Legislator who votes for them.

THEREFORE:

Therefore, as a citizen of Wyoming, I URGE you to oppose, and vote against or veto all anti-gun legislation, including any bill that expands background checks or “cracks down” on gun shows.

SAY NO too Bloombergs Wyoming schemes!

April 28, 2014

It’s been a unusually busy time of year.

In fact, since I’ve been in this fight, this is the very first time it’s been so hectic on the flip side of the short 20 day legislative session.

And regrettably, we have our work cut out for us.

The truth is some folks believe that here in Wyoming, we remain sheltered from big city gun grabbers like billionaire Michael Bloomberg.

And it may be for this very reason that the gun control crowd has launched an all out assault in Wyoming.

Of course this is why we’ve been working so hard to reach hundreds of gun owners.

Please know that fruits of generous donors like you, is that, literally hundreds of Wyoming residents are receiving a “call to action” delivered to their postal mail box.

This action alert by WyGO is being mailed to inform them about — state “Republican” leadership pushing enhanced background checks — into an interim committee meeting in Rawlins WY in just a couple of weeks.

Of course we know the lay of the land, because this underhanded “play” has surfaced in several state legislatures.

And wouldn’t you know, much of it has been traced back to Bloomberg, along with his well funded gun control cronies all across the country.

Their plan is to, slip-in “King Henry the 8th” style laws, which will give carte blanche authority to Wyoming’s top law enforcement agency, who will then be able to share gun owner data to federal agencies.

Dangerously, once something like this goes into place, then the D.C. gun grabbers only need to pass a simple bill to tie it all together.

I hate to think what someone like Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder, would do with a “secret list” of gun owners.

It gets worse. Even if a seemingly innocuous bill makes it out of committee in Rawlins, the anti-gun politicians in Cheyenne will sneak-in freedom robbing amendments into the bill at the next general session in 2015.

So here’s how the dirty scheme could play out:

*** Get the ‘ball’ rolling now, by pushing a bill draft that will remain hidden from public eyes;

*** Then, squeak by in the upcoming elections;

*** And for the kill, push the gun control envelope during the upcoming general session.

This is why this must be stopped all together!

And just who quietly placed this Universal Background Check scheme into the upcoming interim committee?

No other than the shadow government agency in Cheyenne called the “Management Council” — led by Republican leadership, Speaker of the House Tom Lubnau, and President of the Senate Tony Ross.

This is really an all-out FIGHT!

So please forward this email to every freedom loving friend and family member in Wyoming immediately!

Also urge them to sign up for our email alerts, so they too can get all the details about this attack on gun owners, as soon as it’s available.

Over the next coming days I will continue to coordinate WyGO’s aggressive postal-mailings — mostly to folks that may have never heard of our organization.

Bloomberg’s promise to spend $50 Million on state legislatures is a somber reality, and though WyGO is currently mailing several hundred homes — the goal to reach 20,000 Second Amendment supporters in Wyoming is a costly endeavor.

Please consider becoming a outreach-sponsor by contributing $50, $25, or even just $5 to help cover the costs of the envelopes, paper and postage.

Without your generous support, I truly shudder to think about what you and I could be facing. We simply have to turn up the heat on the Wyoming Lawmakers like never before.

In addition to helping out with whatever you can afford, please pass this alert on to your Pro-Freedom friends and point them to our — “Stop Bloomberg in Wyoming Petition” — by clicking on the banner below.

Thank you in advance for your dedication to defending the Second Amendment in Wyoming.

P.S. With billionaire Michael Bloomberg now spending $50 million to push — state level gun control — that includes “enhanced background check” legislation — gun owners are now facing a serious assault by the politicians in Cheyenne.

It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.

Mayor Bloomberg, try Sensible Gun Control.

In 1881 a left wing radical Democrat shot James Garfield, President of the United States who later died from the wound.
In 1963 a radical left wing socialist shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States .
In 1975 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at Gerald Ford, President of the United States .

In 1990 James Pough, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 10 people at a GMAC office.
In 1991 George Hennard, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 23 people in a Luby’s cafeteria in Killeen , TX .
In 1995 James Daniel Simpson, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.
In 1999 Larry Asbrook, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 8 people at a church service.
In 2001 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at the White House in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush, President of the US .
In 2003 Douglas Williams, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people at a Lockheed Martin plant.
In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung – Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech.
In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner, shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others.
In 2011 a registered Democrat named James Holmes, went into a movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.
In 2012 Andrew Engeldinger, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis .
In 2013 a registered Democrat named Adam Lanza, shot and killed 26 people in a school in Newtown , CT.
As recently as Sept 2013, an angry Democrat shot 12 at a Navy ship yard.
Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns.
Not one NRA member, Tea Party member, or Republican conservative was involved in any of these shootings and murders.

Three Cheers for Idaho; Why not Wyoming?

March 23, 2014

BOISE, March 21, 2014 – On Thursday, Idaho Governor Butch Otter (R) signed a bill, which would effectively nullify future federal gun laws, by prohibiting state enforcement of any future federal act relating to personal firearms, a firearm accessories or ammunition.

S1332 passed the house by a vote of 68-0 and the senate by a vote of 34-0. Alaska and Kansas have also passed similar laws.

Erich Pratt, Director of Communications for Gun Owners of America, cheered the governor’s action. “By signing this nullification bill into law, Idaho has joined an elite class of states that are telling the feds to ‘get lost’ especially when it comes to unconstitutional gun control infringements”

Introduced by the State Affairs Committee, the Idaho Federal Firearm, Magazine and Register Ban Enforcement Act, will:

“protect Idaho law enforcement officers from being directed, through federal executive orders, agency orders, statutes, laws, rules, or regulations enacted or promulgated on or after the effective date of this act, to violate their oath of office and Idaho citizens’ rights under Section 11, Article I, of the Constitution of the State of Idaho.”

The legislation continued:

any official, agent or employee of the state of Idaho or a political subdivision thereof who knowingly and willfully orders an official, agent or employee of the state of Idaho or a political subdivision of the state to enforce any executive order, agency order, law, rule or regulation of the United States government as provided in subsection (2) of this section upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition shall, on a first violation, be liable for a civil penalty not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) which shall be paid into the general fund of the state…

S1332 also includes an emergency provision meaning it takes effect immediately upon signature.

Tenth Amendment Center national communications director Mike Maharrey considered the legislation a good start. “This is an important first step for Idaho,” he said. “Getting this law passed will ensure that any new plans or executive orders that might be coming our way will not be enforced in Idaho. Then, once this method is established and shown to be effective, legislators can circle back and start doing the same for federal gun control already on the books. SB1332 is an important building block for protecting the 2nd Amendment in Idaho.”

Passage into law represents a giant step forward in protecting the right to keep and bear arms in Idaho. As the law now stands, state and local law enforcement will not cooperate with all future federal firearm laws.

The bill rests on a well-established legal principle known as the anti-commandeering doctrine. Simply put, the federal government cannot force states to help implement or enforce and federal act or program The anti-commandeering doctrine rests primarily on four Supreme Court cases dating back to 1842. Printz v. United States serves as the cornerstone.

Tenth Amendment Center executive director Michael Boldin said that the new Idaho law has opened Pandora’s box even wider.

“People are beginning to realize that this practice is completely constitutional and legal. In the near future, you will see a wave of states passing even broader legislation to fight the federal government on everything ranging from more traditionally liberal issues like hemp and marijuana, to more conservative issues like Obamacare.” Boldin continued, “Nullification isn’t a left vs. right issue. It destroys the fallacy of the left right paradigm and is the remedy for all unconstitutional laws.”
By: Michael Lotfi – Mar 22, 2014

The answer to my question? Well, we had a similar law being considered here. However our “leaders” succumbed to the pressures that are opposed to freedom and liberty. The election looms friends. Let us all remember who had the courage to stand and be counted as among those that support our most deeply held values. As well as remembering those that did not.

10) Only in America … could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.
9) Only in America … could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20% of the federal work force is black while only 14% of the population is black. 40+% of all federal entitlements go to black Americans – 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics!
8) Only in America … could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.
7) Only in America … can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
6) Only in America … would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just ‘magically’ become American citizens.
5) Only in America … could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as “extremists.”
4) Only in America … could you need to present a driver’s license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
3) Only in America … could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).
2) Only in America … could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year – for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn’t have nearly enough money.
1) Only in America … could the rich people – who pay 86% of all income taxes – be accused of not paying their “fair share” by people who don’t pay any income taxes at all.

Gun Owners Spank Bloomberg, Schumer, IRS & Governor “Moonbeam” Brown

February 24, 2014

And GOA submits new brief before the U.S. Supreme Court. Click here to help.

“[New Jersey has] subordinated the People’s right to keep and bear arms to the state’s alleged interest in promoting public safety. It is not, however, within the authority of courts to override the Constitution as ratified by the People.” — Gun Owners of America’s legal brief before the U.S. Supreme Court in Drake v. Jerejian, February 12, 2014

Pro-gun victories are coming so fast and furiously (no pun intended) that it’s difficult to keep up with them.

Here is a sample of good news.

GOA CHALLENGING NJ LAW BEFORE U.S. SUPREME COURT IN WAKE OF HUGE LEGAL VICTORY

On Thursday, a three-judge panel of the liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled that California’s requirement that applicants for concealed carry permits show “good cause” were unconstitutional under the Heller decision.

“The right to bear arms includes the right to carry an operable firearm outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense,” said Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain.

Gun Owners of America is pursuing an almost identical challenge to New Jersey’s onerous and restrictive concealed carry law. GOA (and its foundation) filed an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court just one day prior to last week’s Ninth Circuit decision, challenging the New Jersey control scheme that was upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

In several instances, the Ninth Circuit opinion critiques the Third Circuit’s opinion by using arguments very similar to the ones GOA presented in our amicus brief. Overall the opinion is a refreshing change from most lower federal court decisions, which have refused to engage in the textual and historical analysis required by Heller and McDonald.

As we see it, the Ninth Circuit decision should add weight in favor of the Supreme Court hearing one of these cases to resolve the circuit split. And hopefully the five justice majority from Heller will seize on these two cases because of the Ninth Circuit’s detailed and careful review of the history that supports public carry of weapons for self-defense.

Go here to read more about this case — including the GOA/GOF brief.

BLOOMBERG DEFEATED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg had intended to turn New Hampshire into his most recent “victory for gun control” — joining a handful of states that enacted stricter gun control laws in the wake of the Newton school yard tragedy.

Bloomberg figured that New Hampshire would be easy pickings. After all, the “Granite State” had a Democratic House of Representatives and a Democratic anti-gun governor.

Gun Owners of America countered Bloomberg’s muscle by aiding several local gun groups in the state to rally grassroots gun owners in opposition to the bill.

Well, the final shootout occurred last Wednesday. And after the smoke cleared, Bloomberg and his “human props” were sent packing, with their tails between their legs. After a series of votes — and an hour and a half of parliamentary wrangling — the Democratic House declared that a Manchin-Toomey-type universal gun registry bill was “inexpedient to legislate.”

Having failed to buy Congress with his billions of anti-gun dollars, Bloomberg has attempted to buy the legislatures of states like New Hampshire. But, with the exception of seven states with legislatures dominated by anti-gun legislators and governors, Bloomberg has been humiliated.

And “red state Democrats” running for reelection in the Senate are running from Bloomberg even faster than they’re running from Obama.

As a result, Bloomberg has now modified his strategy to turn the country blue by legalizing millions of anti-gun voters who broke the law to get here. And to that end, Bloomberg has announced that he will use his billions to support “red state Democrats” who opposed the Manchin-Toomey amendment — language imposing universal background checks around the nation — so long as such Senators agree to support the anti-gun immigration amnesty bill.

SCHUMER REELS AFTER AMNESTY BILL IS SHELVED

Three weeks ago, it looked like an immigration amnesty bill to create 8,000,000 new anti-gun voters was on the “fast track” in the U.S. House.

That was before you burned up the telephone lines and internet accounts of House Republicans. At a Republican “retreat,” dozens of congressmen lined up to oppose the bill. And Speaker John Boehner was forced to concede that Republicans could not “trust” Obama to implement the enforcement provisions of the bill.

Now, reeling from another defeat, New York Senator Charles Schumer has threatened to file a “discharge petition” to force the House to consider the anti-gun bill, over Republican objections.

The problem is that Schumer, to be successful, would have to convince over a dozen Republicans to openly betray their colleagues, in order to garner the necessary 217 or 218 signatures (depending on the number of House vacancies). For this reason, discharge petitions almost never succeed.

THE IRS BACKS OFF FROM ANTI-GUN REGS

Fresh from a scandal in which it tried to harass conservatives applying for 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status, the IRS has spent the last several months trying to put GOA out of business.

It did this by threatening regulations which would define a broad range of policy activities (including voting guides) as political activities.

But, in its arrogance, the IRS overstepped its bounds. So many policy-related activities would be limited under the IRS rules that a broad range of both conservative and liberal 501(c)(4)’s blasted the proposals. In addition, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee introduced legislation (H.R. 3865) which would prohibit the IRS regs from being issued. Given the broad support from both ends of the political spectrum, the Camp bill would surely be passed overwhelmingly.

As a result, the IRS has now meekly testified that it will not push its proposals in 2014.

Democrats, Liberals, Progressives love dead kids.

February 18, 2014

Since the other post got fouled up somehow here is a repeat.

Agenda drives the left, in all things. The more dead kids there are, the more fodder for the leftest agenda. Alinsky would be proud. The more that we learn about the mass killers the more we find out how they are drugged, and supporters of leftest ideologies. I for one am going to start referring to the entire lot of them as murderers. Because that is what they are.

When others talk of full blown revolution I will no longer speak about temperance. I’m not, after all, that kind of a Christian. More power to the people of America as envisioned by those that established this great nation!

A bunch of kid killers support the Free Fire Zones. Let us be diligent in reminding them about that at every turn!

Fast Track to Gun Control?

February 17, 2014

Take a deep breath! You’re in for a wild ride.

“‘Immigration reform will add over 8,000,000 anti-gun voters to the voting rolls,’ Gun Owners of America warned its members and supporters in a January 24 alert.” — The Examiner, January 29, 2014

For months, as you know, GOA has been battling against the anti-gun immigration amnesty bill, which would add 8,000,000 anti-gun voters to the voting rolls.

The political left has attacked Gun Owners of America for rallying gun owners to oppose the anti-gun amnesty legislation. One liberal website even (mockingly) characterized our view as saying that “immigrants must suffer because of their supposed political views.”

Of course, that’s not what we’re saying, but then again, we wouldn’t expect anti-gun liberals to understand.

There were even some conservatives who had misgivings. For example, one pro-gun author confessed that he initially “harbored some doubts” about GOA’s position and even argued that immigration overhaul could actually help gun ownership in the U.S.

But after reading our alerts, he admitted that such a rosy scenario was “probably very wishful thinking” on his part, especially considering the 2013 “Pew poll indicating an electoral bonanza for Democrats — and therefore for ‘gun control’ — should illegal aliens gain the right to vote.”

GOA is very thankful for thoughtful journalists like the one above who took the time to really research the issue — and grateful for many gun owners like yourself who have taken action on our alerts.

The result has been an intense outpouring of “political heat” on politicians in Washington (especially Republicans).

A couple of weeks ago, GOA asked you to contact your Republican Congressman, prior to their retreat, to let them know that their grassroots base (that is, gun owners) do not support anything that resembles amnesty. Other groups have joined the chorus as well.

Since then, media reports indicated that the phones rang off the hook on Capitol Hill — especially in Speaker Boehner’s office.

All of this culminated in newspaper headlines around the country reporting, on Friday, that the anti-gun amnesty bill was dead and we had won:

* “Hope dims for immigration bill,” trumpeted USA Today.

* “Boehner Doubts Immigration Bill Will Pass in 2014,” said the New York Times.

* “Immigration Overhaul Stalls,” said the front-page headline of the Wall Street Journal.

For us to have reached this point was an enormous victory for your activism. And GOA is grateful for all you who made calls and helped tie up the phone lines on Capitol Hill opposing this bill.

But the battle is clearly not over, for buried deep in the articles was a more nuanced story. The Journal said that a pro-immigration leader “was told by congressional aides to ‘take a deep breath’ and that ‘the wheels continue to turn.'”

Thus, there is still some degree of danger that Speaker John Boehner could push the anti-gun bill after primary filing season had closed — perhaps in May, June or July.

This would not be the first time that we have seen defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. In fact, you might remember our most recent alert over the weekend which explained how a Senate committee ambushed pro-gun Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) in an attempt to defeat his language repealing the Post Office gun ban.

[GOA has posted an update here which further explains how players behind the scenes — like Senator Mark Begich (D-AK) — worked overtime to ambush Rand Paul and sack his pro-gun agenda.]

So one might wonder: Is this battle over anti-gun amnesty just another political ambush, similar to the one gun owners saw play out in the battle to repeal the post office gun ban?

Well, consider the multiple levels of perfidy that are at play.

Fast Track to Gun Control?

Many of the same business interests that support immigration — for short-term “balance sheet” motives — also support a bill to allow Barack Obama to write virtually any multilateral trade treaties he wants — with little or no ability to stop them when we “find out what’s in them.”

The bill is called “fast track.” The way it would work is that Obama could negotiate treaties, and, once they were negotiated, they would have to be considered under the Senate rules … they could not be filibustered … they would be approved by a simple majority … and they would be unamendable.

Obviously, if the Obama treaties contained provisions limiting the import and export of guns, we would not have the votes to do anything about it, if “fast track” were in place.

Why is this relevant?

MSNBC and the New York Times have floated a “deal” to pass the anti-gun immigration bill. Obama would “give” Republicans “fast track” — because many in the GOP business interests support “fast track” and many Democrats oppose it. In exchange, Republicans would “give” Obama immigration amnesty.

Obviously, some Washington-centered business interests would view this as a win-win.

For gun owners, it would be a lose-lose. There would be 8,000,000 new anti-gun voters, and California-style gun control would be inevitable. On the other hand, newly drafted Obama anti-gun treaties, which could resemble the UN Arms Trade Treaty, would be almost impossible to stop.

Think Obama is so honorable that he would not use treaties to ban guns? Does anyone think that?

ACTION: For now, let’s receive our apparent victory graciously — knowing that we’re going to have to be continually vigilant to make sure the amnesty bill doesn’t raise its ugly head again. So urge your Representatives to remain firm in opposing anti-gun amnesty for the rest of this congressional session.
