And the loser is? Epic Fail obama!

November 18, 2010

“The trade association of U.S. airlines — the Air Transport Association — says that it expects that about 24 million Americans will take to the air over the Thanksgiving holiday. That would be about 3 percent more air travelers than flew last Thanksgiving. I hope they are wrong. Travelers should drive, take the train, bicycle, walk or just stay home. Just don’t fly. If we stay on the ground, the message may finally get through to our government: stop harassing us and concentrate on finding the bad guys.” –columnist Jed Babbin

“Mr. Obama’s continued pursuit of romance with the Islamic world, little short of abasing both himself and his country, isn’t winning him a lot of points from Muslims at home. … The special pleaders are clear about the price they exact for returning Mr. Obama’s respect and attempts at affection. They define ‘progress’ as withdrawing American troops from Afghanistan, shutting down the detention center at Guantanamo Bay at once, ‘protecting’ the civil rights of Muslim Americans, and compelling the Israelis to commit suicide. Do all that, Mr. President, and we’ll love you — maybe for a whole day. But eventually you’ll probably have to put Michelle in a burqa.” –Washington Times editor emeritus Wesley Pruden

“After being chastened by the voters in one of the greatest electoral reversals in American history, the president flew away on the most expensive foreign junket ever taken by an American head of state. But his appearances … in India, Indonesia and South Korea have made it vividly clear to all that Obama is incapable of shaping events.” –columnist Oliver North

“President Obama’s fiercest obstacles as chief executive are neither recalcitrant Republicans nor the increasing complexity and demands of the job; they are his ideology and his political allegiances. Newsweek sees it differently. In its latest issue, it laments: ‘The presidency has grown, and grown and grown, into the most powerful, most impossible job in the world. … The issue is not Obama, it’s the office. … Can any single person fully meet the demands of the 21st-century presidency?’ Can you imagine any ‘mainstream’ media publication interposing such a lame excuse for a Republican president’s failures in office?” –columnist David Limbaugh

Discriminatory ‘profiling’?

November 18, 2010

“The Transportation Security Administration’s demeaning new ‘enhanced pat-down’ procedures are a direct result of the Obama administration’s willful blindness to the threat from Islamic radicals. While better tools are available to keep air travelers safe, they would involve recognizing the threat for what it is, which is something the White House will never do. El Al, Israel’s national airline, employs a smarter approach. Any airline representing the state of Israel is a natural — some might say preeminent — target for terrorist attacks. Yet El Al has one of the best security records in the world and doesn’t resort to wide-scale use of methods that would under other circumstances constitute sexual assault. The Israelis have achieved this track record of safety by employing sophisticated intelligence analysis which allows them to predict which travelers constitute a possible threat and which do not. Resources are then focused on the more probable threats with minimal intrusion on those who are likely not to be terrorists. Here in the United States, these sophisticated techniques have roundly been denounced as discriminatory ‘profiling.’ … TSA believes an 80-year-old grandmother deserves the same level of scrutiny at an airport terminal checkpoint as a 19-year-old male exchange student from Yemen. This policy not only is a waste of time and resources, it denies reality. … Despite all the government bureaucracy and TSA’s intrusive inspection practices, [al Qaeda underwear bomber Umar Farouk] Abdulmutallab’s attack was only foiled because of a faulty bomb and the actions of alert passengers. Now all passengers have to pay the price by having their privacy (and their privates) invaded, which is the Obama administration’s alternative to instituting a policy that will target the source of the problem.” —The Washington Times

What happens when you blow up buildings and kill people?

November 18, 2010

If you are an American you get sentenced to death. Deservedly so I might add. Even if your reasons are for avenging the American governments holocaust. If, however, you are a muslim terrorist you get off on all but a single count.

Ahmed Ghailani will face between 20 years and life in prison as a result of his conviction on one charge related to the 1998 embassy bombings in Africa. But because a jury acquitted him on more than 280 other charges — including every count of murder — critics of the Obama administration’s strategy on detainees said the verdict proved that civilian courts could not be trusted to handle the prosecution of Al Qaeda terrorists.

“This is a tragic wake-up call to the Obama Administration to immediately abandon its ill-advised plan to try Guantánamo terrorists” in federal civilian courts, said Representative Peter King, Republican of New York. “We must treat them as wartime enemies and try them in military commissions at Guantánamo.”

Adding political force of such criticism, Mr. King is set to become the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in January, and he promised to use oversight hearings to pressure the administration over its handling of terrorism trials.

Rangel Guilty! Who wudda thought…

November 17, 2010

The answer to that is a lot of people, and for quite some time I might add.

WASHINGTON—New York Rep. Charles Rangel, a longtime power in the U.S. House, violated its rules with financial misconduct, brought it discredit and will be punished, fellow lawmakers sitting as jurors ruled on Tuesday.Protesting the enduring stain on his four-decade congressional career, the 80-year-old Democrat said he was treated unfairly for “good faith mistakes.” His statement reflected the bitterness of an eight-month career slide, starting with an unrelated ethics ruling that forced him from his coveted chairmanship of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee.Full Story HERE

DOJ Inspector General Proposes Multiple Sales Reports On Long Guns

November 17, 2010

More waste for pure political correctness and infringement of the rights of Americans.

As we noted in the Sept. 24, 2010 Grassroots Alert, a draft report prepared by the Justice Department Inspector General had called into question the BATFE’s mega-million-dollar Project Gunrunner program.  Established in 2007, this program sought to expand the agency’s firearm tracing operation, relative to the still uncertain amount of smuggling of firearms from the United States to Mexico. This week, the report appeared in final form.

Like the draft, the final report notes that despite Project Gunrunner’s lavish funding, the program suffers because the BATFE fails to coordinate with its own people, with those of the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, and with Mexican officials.

“We also found no routine sharing of firearms trafficking-related information and techniques between ATF intelligence personnel in Southwest border locations and in the ATF Mexico Country Office,” the report says. “ATF and ICE do not work together effectively on investigations of firearms trafficking to Mexico. . . . ATF does not systematically and consistently exchange intelligence with its Mexican and some U.S. partner agencies.”

The Nobel Peace Prize ain’t what it used to be: Costa Rica?

November 16, 2010

Ex President  Oscar Arias, like so many other leftest douche bags has lectured we Americans after we kept his nation afloat for so many years.

Read his tirade HERE. More importantly, read the comments that follow. They explain things much better than I ever could.

Here are my solutions for dealing not just with Costa Rica, but with every other country that bites the American hand that feeds them.

  • Ban any, and all investment from American people and businesses.
  • Ban all travel to said nations.
  • No aid, disaster, food, military, or humanitarian of any kind to such nations.

We could call it the “Hate America First Act.” Want to fix the budget? That would be a first, and very big step in that direction.

70 percent of Oklahoma voters are wrong and one man is right.

November 12, 2010

Well, that didn’t take long. According to Clinton-appointed U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange, 70 percent of Oklahoma voters are wrong and one man is right. That man is Muneer Awad, who is the head of the Council on American-Islamic Relations for Oklahoma. He filed suit to block the adoption of the state constitutional amendment to prevent judges from considering international or Sharia law in their decisions, claiming the amendment “stigmatizes his religion.” Miles-LaGrange agreed, and the state cannot now certify the results of its election until a Nov. 22 hearing where Miles-LaGrange will rule on whether to grant a preliminary injunction to block the amendment.

Awad filed suit because he claims his will, which is based on Islamic law, would be made invalid by the amendment. “We are humbled by this opportunity to show our fellow Oklahomans that Muslims are their neighbors and that we are committed to upholding the U.S. Constitution and promoting the benefits of a pluralistic society,” he said.

Awad didn’t comment on whether those benefits of a “pluralistic society” would include honor killings or stonings of adulterous women, both of which are permissible in some interpretations of Sharia law.

The end of Ted Kennedy’s dream of a third-world America

November 12, 2010

The Texas state legislature joined Arizona’s war on illegal immigration in a characteristically big way last Monday. State Rep. Debbie Riddle actually camped out before the chief clerk’s office to get low docket numbers for her illegal immigration bills. One would criminalize trespassing in Texas by illegal aliens, and a second would require state-issued voter IDs. Almost simultaneously, state Sen. Dan Patrick also offered two bills, one outlawing sanctuary cities and a second empowering law enforcement to question suspects’ immigration status.

All told, nine bills attacking problems caused by illegals were offered, including imprisoning unlicensed drivers who cause serious accidents, requiring schools to report illegal students and making burglary of a motor vehicle a felony. Since the new legislature is strongly conservative, chances are good for passage of all nine.

Of course, the usual suspects vow to fight for illegal immigration forever. Democrat state Rep. Mike Villarreal argued that every study has shown that stopping illegal immigration would “strangle the state’s economy.” However, a recent report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform puts the total annual price tag for handling Mexico’s overflow population at $113 billion, of which the states pay three-fourths unaided, or $84 billion. Texas’ share is nearly $9 billion, a tidy sum that, freed up, could spark considerable investment and employment, or even zero-out the state’s total deficit. Far from strangling it, the end of Ted Kennedy’s dream of a third-world America would strengthen the state’s economy.

Village idiots: Stuck on Stupid

November 12, 2010

Some things never change; like being stuck on stupid!

Fighting for Pelosi: “Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one of the strongest, most progressive leaders in Washington. Her determination brought health care reform back to life last winter, when the Senate and the White House were ready to scale back. She fought harder than anyone for bigger, better job creation bills. And right now, she is the strongest voice in leadership for ending Bush’s millionaire tax bailout. But after Tuesday’s elections, some corporate Democrats are taking the wrong lesson — saying that Democrats should be less progressive and more like the Republicans. And they’re pushing Speaker Pelosi to step down. This would be a terrible loss for progressives, and for the country.” –MoveOn.org

Unbelievable: “The president himself has to reconnect with the people. Remember, President Clinton reconnected through [the Oklahoma City bombing], right? … And the president right now seems removed. And it wasn’t until that speech that he reclicked with the American public. Obama needs a similar — a similar kind of event.” –Democrat pollster Mark Penn (They “need” another terrorist attack?)

Advice: “Seriously, if we ran Tom Hanks, if we ran Oprah — there’s a whole column of people who are beloved people. Smart and good.” –Michael Moore suggesting a new slate of Democrat candidates

California dreaming: “We’re nothing but a mirror of our consistent thoughts. You tend to manifest what you focus on. If you look around for what’s wrong, you’ll find it. But as all we know up here in San Francisco, when you focus on what’s right, you see it all around you. … There is absolutely nothing wrong with California that can’t be fixed by what’s right with California. … If you’re from another state, you’d love to have the problems of California.” –California Lt. Gov.-elect Gavin Newsom

Oops: Belated Birthday!

November 12, 2010

I don’t know how I missed this, it is after all a tradition here at CLO: Happy Birthday Marine Corps!

On Nov. 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress resolved to create two battalions of Continental Marines for the War of Independence from Britain. In 1798, President John Adams signed the Act establishing the United States Marine Corps. The 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps, General John A. Lejeune, issued Marine Corps Order No. 47, Series 1921, directing that on Nov. 10 every year, in honor of the Corps’ birthday, the Order’s summary of the history, mission and tradition of the Corps be read to every command. Wish them Happy Birthday here.
