Strange Bedfellows Indeed: AWB 2009

February 28, 2009

Dirty Harry Reid and San Fran Nancy Pelosi in bed seeking to thwart Eric Holder and the rest of the obamanite’s? Actually supporting the Second Amendment based upon the Constitution? I’m somewhat dazed and it’s been fully a half hour since checking an RSS feed that almost makes it appear that the democrat congress is siding with the National Rifle Association. I’m still waiting for a Gun Owners of America situational analysis, and as we all have learned based upon the collective histories of the players involved we had better keep our heads up.

Eric Holder the treasonous creep that he is blames Americans for Mexico’s crime problem. No, not anything that might be rational, such as America fueling the drug business via the seemingly insatiable market. But, naturally, he attacks our freedoms attaching the blame to Americans. Alright, I’ll give him just a little bit of lee way there. After all, some criminals are buying weapons as straw purchasers and selling them to the drug gangs. That is already a serious felony though Mister Attorney General. But, in your (Eric Holder’s) warped mind it is just so much simpler to deny Americans that have nothing at all to do with the criminal activity their rights as granted them by our Constitution. Or is it just that they (Americans not involved other than possibly as victims) would be all that much easier to arrest and convict than the criminals that are part and parcel of the drug gangs that are more prone to shooting back?

Put all these things together and what do we have then? Politicians that are frightened beyond the pale that they might just lose their positions of power and prestige. An Attorney General who has based his entire career upon being a lackey for the powers of mysandry and hopolophobia. That is also all too obviously a fall guy for the administration, and that has a history of being right in the middle of having an innocent woman killed while holding a baby in her arms, and later having Americans burned to death. None of these people are friends of the American people. After all, the drug gangs have ample means of securing sophisticated weaponry. It’s just  easier to have innocent Americans slaughtered and by law, incapable of effectively defending their families, friends, nation, and selves.

What follows is the National Rifle Association’s take on it all.

Feds Send Mixed Signals On Push For Gun Control

HolderOn Wednesday, February 25, just over five weeks after Inauguration Day, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Obama Administration will seek to reinstate the expired federal “assault weapon” ban and impose additional restrictions.

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder said. Based on Holder’s testimony during his confirmation hearings before the Senate, those other “changes” presumably include prohibiting private transfers of firearms and banning most center-fire rifle ammunition as “armor-piercing.”

Holder said that new gun control laws are needed because in Mexico, a country with a history of corruption and disregard for individual rights, there’s a shooting war going on between drug gangs and government troops, and some of the gangsters’ guns have been illegally purchased in the United States.

Few Americans are going to buy into the idea that the U.S. is responsible for internal problems in any foreign country, particularly one to which we give millions of dollars in aid, and in turn illegal drugs and illegal aliens flow freely into our southwestern states.

Holder tried to sell his scheme by saying that “International drug trafficking organizations pose a sustained, serious threat to the safety and security of our communities,” noting that law enforcement officers in this country have arrested more than 750 individuals on related illegal narcotics charges over the last 21 months.

Atta-boy to our law enforcement officers for their good work in making drug gangs bite the dust. But it appears that Holder exaggerated the “threat” that they pose to the U.S. On Thursday, a Drug Enforcement Administration spokesperson told NRA-ILA that there is little incidence of Mexican drug gang members committing violent crimes in this country against Americans who are not involved in illegal activities with the gangs. Some Americans who have colluded with the drug-smugglers have not been so lucky, but for that they have only themselves to blame.

Of course, ignored in the discussion was any mention that straw purchasing a firearm for a Mexican drug runner, and transferring a firearm to someone knowing it will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime, are currently federal felonies punishable by 10 years in prison.

Holder was still enjoying the high (pardon the pun) that he must have felt from his media moment when Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) reminded him that it isn’t the Attorney General who makes laws in the United States. Asked whether Holder had spoken to her before putting himself in front of the national news cameras, Pelosi said “no,” adding, “I think we need to enforce the laws we have right now.” Shortly thereafter, the office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) stated flatly that “Senator Reid would oppose an effort [to] reinstate the ban if the Senate were to vote on it in the future.”

Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid were joined in opposing Holder by members of the bipartisan House of Representatives Second Amendment Task Force. U.S. Rep. and Task Force co-chair Paul Broun (R-Ga.) said “The Attorney General’s recent comments about reinstating the ‘assault weapons’ ban are extremely troubling since a ban clearly violates our Constitutional right to bear arms.” Co-chair Dan Boren (D-Okla.) added, “The Second Amendment Task Force is adamantly opposed to reinstating the ban on the sale of assault weapons as it clearly would demonstrate a violation of United States citizens’ right to keep and bear arms.” Other members of the Task Force include Democrats Jason Altmire (D-Pa.), Travis Childers (D-Miss.), Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.), Jim Matheson (D-Utah) and Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.), and Republicans Rob Bishop (R-Utah), John Carter (R-Tex.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Steve King (R-Iowa) and Steve Scalise (R-La.).

Independently, Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), an NRA Life Member, said that he would “oppose any action on behalf of the Attorney General or President Obama to reinstate the assault weapons ban.”

Unfortunately, Holder still has many options for ways to threaten the right to arms. As examples, he could force the BATFE to once again arbitrarily reinterpret firearm importation law, to further limit the kinds of firearms that may be imported. He could force the agency to discontinue its support of the Tiahrt Amendment, which protects both the privacy of gun buyers and the integrity of police investigations. And though the Justice Department has previously testified against the type of “armor piercing ammunition” restriction gun control supporters advocate today, Holder’s DOJ could reverse course. Holder could also direct BATFE to adopt enforcement policies designed to drive licensed dealers out of business.

And while Sen. Reid has a good record on many gun control issues, there is no doubt where Speaker Pelosi truly stands. She will support gun control, but on her timetable, not one provided her by the new Attorney General.

As we expect to say a lot over the next four years, “Stay tuned.”

You heard it here…

February 26, 2009

I warned even before the democrat primary had ended that a renewal of the failed Assault Weapons ban would be coming our way, further, that it didn’t matter who won the election. Now, because of criminals in Mexico, the obamanites will be making a push for reinstatement. Never mind that the violence will be, or already has spilled across the border. The politics of revenge are hard at work indeed, just as I warned. What is the true goal of the obamanites? Simply put, it is to make it quite clear to all of you that you cannot effectively protect and defend yourself, your family, and you nation.

We have Hezbollah and Hamas terrorist cells here already. We have MS13 and related gangs here already. The obamanites seek to have you available for slaughter without any method of resisting them as well as the gangs and terrorist’s. Don’t bother sending word to your elected representatives, they are in cahoots with all of the control freaks. It takes little observation to figure that out. If it were indeed otherwise then why the hell do the obamanites want you disarmed? Why are the borders still porous? Why the hell are you politicians making it so that the American people cannot properly and effectively capable of defending themselves?

My advice is to arm up as best that you can. Further, that you should do so “off paper” when possible. Why make rogue agencies like the BATFE have an easier time of destroying the nation and Constitution that they swore to protect and defend?

Am I being paranoid? Possibly, but that doesn’t meant that they are not out to get your weapons. Read about it…

Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

The Ban Expired in 2004 During the Bush Administration.

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

“I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.” Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

MS-13 gang taken down in Denver

February 25, 2009

We knew that they were around, here is what we did about it.

20 MS-13 gang members, their associates and drug suppliers have been charged in two indictments with drug crimes.

Undercover agents say the MS-13 gang sent members to Denver to start up drug operations here because they felt law enforcement was soft. They were wrong. An investigation led by the Metro Drug Task Force has resulted in two indictments and numerous arrests that have put a sizeable dent into the gang’s operation.  8 arrests were made. 7 suspects were taken into custody in Denver and one in Los Anegles where the MS-13 gang was started. Other defendants are already being prosecuted for other crimes or are behind bars. 4 are still at-large.  In the course of the arrests, officiers and agents seized 10 pounds of meth, 2.3 kilograms of cocaine, 1.24 grams of heroin, 12 firearms and more than $3,000 in cash.

Where is Andrew Romanoff?

February 22, 2009

Where is Andrew Romanoff seems to be the question floating around Colorado this past week. After all, this hopeless hopolophobe that is so deeply in bed with the purveyors of hatred from the mysandry wing of the Democrats surely had to be in line for a position with the obaminites. But? Nothing so far has come up on the political radar that I am aware of. Yet at least. Face the State addressed this missing person. Should the hate mongers put out an Amber Alert?

February 19, 2009

The Democrat golden boy who couldn’t go a day without seeing his name in the paper has suddenly fallen off the radar. Always thoughtful and quotable, it is no surprise he was the media’s go-to guy. It also helped that until getting term-limited last year, he was Speaker of the Colorado House.

The aftermath of the 2008 election was not kind to this Democrat. Overlooked for appointments to Secretary of State and the U.S. Senate, he has now now all but disappeared. While his named still makes it into the paper, it has lately been followed by “did not return calls for comment.” So we’re left asking: where is Andrew Romanoff?

Last week, the political publication Roll Call was first to report that Romanoff might challenge Colorado’s junior U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet. The story featured multiple Colorado-based sources, but a response from Romanoff was notably absent. This is not due to lack of trying, however, and the story included a quick note that read: “Romanoff could not be reached for comment Monday.”

Mike Saccone of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel was next to pick up on the rumor. He too tried to get in touch with Romanoff before blogging about Romanoff’s potential Senate bid. “We’ve reached out to the former Denver state lawmaker and will update you if and when we hear back from him,” Saccone wrote. Yet no update followed.

Perhaps Romanoff didn’t want to comment on the rumor because he isn’t ready, but that’s not the only media query he is avoiding. The Denver Post’s Jessica Fender wrote a story over the weekend about term-limited lawmakers traveling on the state’s dime. Romanoff approved three of the four trips featured in the story. Being the diligent journalist she is, Fender called Romanoff for comment. According to her story, he didn’t call her back.

The last time Face The State saw Romanoff was at his going away party in early January at the Capitol. He told us he has completed law school at the University of Denver (finally!) and is looking forward to taking some time off. Fair enough.

Perhaps he’s just busy studying for the bar?

Domestic Violence… Or is it?

February 22, 2009

“I hope you enjoy wearing a burka.”  That was my response to an irate proponent of mysandry during a sidewalk debate on the streets of Denver some time back in front of the state capital. She was ranting about a bill that was to be voted on that day. It would have made even more men into criminals for petty things like speeding with children in the vehicle. I was already outraged that the current laws regarding misdemeanor domestic violence had already turned Anglo American law on it’s head by enforcing ex post facto law. Not to mention the absolute sexist methodology of enforcement. The woman that I said that to had just said that if the law was not passed that she would move to another country where she would receive the respect that she deserved. Well the law didn’t pass. No, the state legislature didn’t come to  collective sanity, it was tossed due to budgetary restraint… Nor did she moveShe is still teaching her multicultural fantasy and mysandry brand of hatred based philosophy at a local college. It is people like her that take the true and valid arguments about a societal problem and turn them into something that they clearly are not. The nearest thing that I am aware of that ever occurred locally to the article that follows was a situation of ongoing domestic violence where a woman put an axe through her sleeping husbands head. Both assailants actions were wrong, dead wrong.

Muzzammil Hassan, a Muslim living in Orchard Park, New York, decided in 2004 that he wanted to combat stereotypes against Muslims. The television station Bridges TV was born, dedicated to portraying Muslims in a more positive light. Hassan complained, “The level of ignorance regarding Muslims and Islam is very high in the United States.” Unfortunately for his wife, Hassan (allegedly?) ended up exhibiting the worst Muslim stereotype. “He came to the police station [last Thursday] and told us that [his wife] was dead,” Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said. Police went to the TV station to find Aasiya Hassan murdered by beheading.

Naturally, because the Leftmedia is so sensitive to stereotypes, this story has not received much coverage. The Buffalo News didn’t shy away, however, as Fred Williams writes, “Under arrest in his wife’s brutal death, Muzzammil Hassan is ‘almost in shock,’ his attorney said Wednesday following a court appearance in Orchard Park. ‘He’s having difficulty coping with this,’ attorney James Harrington said.” Poor guy. Hassan’s attorney indicated that he would plead not guilty to second-degree murder. But the murder has all the marks of an honor killing — Mrs. Hassan recently filed for divorce and obtained an order of protection that barred her husband from their home. Maybe the charge should be changed to first-degree murder.

The National Organization of Women, the gang of village idiots, is normally outraged at domestic violence, including a recent press release denouncing R&B star Chris Brown for reportedly assaulting singer Rihanna. Regarding this case, however, as The Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto points out, “NOW’s statement on Mrs. Hassan’s beheading was short and to the point: .” In other words, not a peep.

Profiles of valor: United States Army Sgt. Hernandez

February 14, 2009

Well done Sergeant, carry on.

Profiles of valor: United States Army Sgt. Hernandez

Hernandez

United States Army Sgt. Omar Hernandez came to America from Mexico with his family when he was six months old. He joined the Army Reserve when he was 19, deploying to Iraq in 2003. He changed to the regular Army in 2004 and returned to Iraq as an infantryman, earning his citizenship after his second tour. On 6 June 2007, during his third tour in Iraq as part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Hernandez, three other American soldiers and nine Iraqis left Joint Security Station “Maverick” in Ghazaliya on a census patrol.

Just outside the station, however, the team was ambushed. Two Iraqi police were immediately shot. Hernandez returned fire, but was soon shot in the thigh himself. He later said it was “like Forrest Gump — where he goes, ‘Somethin’ jumped up and bit me.'” Indeed — the bullet entered the back and exited the front, just missing his femoral artery, but taking a third of his quadriceps with it. Despite his wound, Hernandez made it to the intersection where the two Iraqi police officers were down, dragging one 15 feet to safety. He then went back for the second, picking him up and carrying him on his shoulder. Hernandez made sure first aid was administered and then resumed firing on the enemy, only later accepting treatment himself. His actions saved the lives of the two Iraqis that day. “I couldn’t let anyone die out there,” he said. For his heroism, Hernandez received the Silver Star.

Committee recommends gun rights resolution

February 9, 2009

Mostly those fly over states, the ones with square sides? They have been quietly  telling the Federal Government to take a hike. From unfunded mandates to inalienable rights we the people are telling the big-shots in Washington D.C. to back off. The constant and continual effort to wax fat from the backs of those that they attempt to laird it over is becoming more than can be bared. Not since prohibition has there been such a flare up of resistance against Federal tyranny. Soon, it will reach proportions that lead to the bloodiest conflict the United States has ever known. Latest of the rebellion is Wyoming:

CHEYENNE — A state legislative committee backed a resolution Friday that seeks to reinforce Wyoming’s right to bear arms.

The House Judiciary Committee endorsed the resolution unanimously. The resolution would instruct Congress to stop trying to pass federal legislation that restricts firearm ownership.

Rep. Dan Zwonitzer, R-Cheyenne, the legislation’s sponsor, said Wyoming citizens are concerned that Washington might begin imposing stricter gun control laws.

“A resolution like this isn’t going to change much,” Zwonitzer said, but added that the resolution would send the federal government a message.

The resolution mentions the Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009, a federal bill Zwonitzer said is gaining strength in Congress.

He said the bill would impose more stringent government licensing measures on gun owners and place increased restrictions on guns in homes with children under 18.

Zwonitzer said the resolution has wide support among Wyoming citizens. He said the bill would “strengthen the bond between us all.”

For too long the Federal government has used the interstate commerce clause as an excuse for wielding power that is in fact reserved to the states by the Constitution. Both the Ninth and Tenth Amendments are very clear about this, and no, you don’t need to be educated as a high powered attorney to understand the meanings. The Bill of Rights isn’t about what rights you, or the states have, it is about the limits of the Federal government. Over you as a person, and you as a state when combined with others in your locale.

Now, these very same people are attempting to pull a fast one on we, the people, that will have generational effects upon the ability of Americans to live a normal life:

“On page 151 of this legislative pork-fest [the ‘stimulus’ bill] is one of the clandestine nuggets of social policy manipulation that are peppered throughout the bill. Section 9201 of the stimulus package establishes the ‘Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research.’ This body, which would be made up of federal bureaucrats will ‘coordinate the conduct or support of comparative effectiveness and related health services research.’ Sounds benign enough, but the man behind the Coordinating Council, Health and Human Services Secretary-designate [since withdrawn] (and tax cheat) Tom Daschle, was kind enough to explain the goal of this organization. It is to cut health care costs by preventing Americans from getting treatments that the government decides don’t meet their standards for cost effectiveness. In his 2008 book on health care, he explained that such a council would, ‘lower overall spending by determining which medicines, treatments and procedures are most effective-and identifying those that do not justify their high price tags.’ Once a panel of government experts decides what is and what is not cost-effective by their definition, the government will stop paying for treatments, medicines, therapies or devices that fall into the latter category. … Mind you, they are not simply looking to exclude treatments that don’t work, but to exclude treatments that are effective, but whose cost, in their opinion, does not justify their use. You, the patient, and your physician don’t get a vote. This would make the federal government the single most important decision-maker regarding health care for every patient in America.” –public affairs consultant Douglas O’Brien

Things like the above are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s not simply about firearms rights, or abortion, it is about the fundamental rights of Americans to be free of oppression from government. Be that Federal, State, or local.

How so..?

“The so-called stimulus bill may not do much for the economy, but it’s certainly stimulating a lot of laughter, as its supporters are reduced to arguing essentially that it would be irresponsible not to waste boatloads of taxpayer money. We do not exaggerate. Consider this article by Michael Hirsh of Newsweek: ‘Obama’s desire to begin a “post-partisan” era may have backfired. In his eagerness to accommodate Republicans and listen to their ideas over the past week, he has allowed the GOP to turn the haggling over the stimulus package into a decidedly stale, Republican-style debate over pork, waste and overspending. This makes very little economic sense when you are in a major recession that only gets worse day by day. Yes, there are still some very legitimate issues with a bill that’s supposed to be “temporary” and “targeted” — among them, large increases in permanent entitlement spending, and a paucity of tax cuts that will prompt immediate spending. Even so, Obama has allowed Congress to grow embroiled in nitpicking over efficiency when the central debate should be about whether the package is big enough. When you are dealing with a stimulus of this size, there are going to be wasteful expenditures and boondoggles. There’s no way anyone can spend $800 to $900 billion quickly without waste and boondoggles. It comes with the Keynesian territory. This is an emergency; the normal rules do not apply.’ Who is this Michael Hirsh, who has elevated unrestrained spending of the people’s money to a high principle? Here’s his bio: ‘Michael Hirsh covers international affairs for Newsweek, reporting on a range of topics from Homeland Security to postwar Iraq. He co-authored the November 3, 2003 cover story, “Bush’s $87 Billion Mess,” about the Iraq reconstruction plan. The issue was one of three that won the 2004 National Magazine Award for General Excellence.’ The bill for ‘Bush’s mess’ is less than the margin of error in reckoning the cost of the ’emergency’ legislation about which Hirsh now chides lawmakers for ‘nitpicking over efficiency.'” –Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto

What I am suggesting, is that the Federal government, at least the vast majority in the Congress, Senate, and Executive branches, are, in fact working day and night to change the Untied States into some socialist utopia, and that the several states, are rebelling.

THE OBAMANISTA REGIME’S SCAMS, SCANDALS, CONTROVERSIES, LIES, DECEPTIONS AND EMBARRASSMENTS

February 7, 2009

Leave it a Recon Marine to compile just what has gone on with the Obama since he took office. Not even a month, and he has Bill Clinton beat! Well, what can I say..? Well done Gunny, carry on and Semper Fidelis!

Attorney General Eric Holder, revealed to be the man who, as Clinton’s deputy AG, was the driving force behind the sentence commutation of 16 murderous FALN terrorists.

Attorney General Eric Holder’s law firm represents 17 Gitmo terrorists and he is a driving force behind the closing of Gitmo.

On Inauguration Day, Obama granted only ABC News an interview, after they paid him $2 million to sponsor his DC Neighborhood Ball.

After three days in office, Obama ordered an attack on homes in Pakistan. Twenty-one people were killed but only five were reported to have been terrorists; the rest of the incinerated and dismembered victims were children, their moms and dads, and other civilians, according to the New York Times, the AFP, the AP and many other news sources.

On 23 January 2009, Obama demanded that GOP leaders stop listening to Rush Limbaugh or else things would not go well for them during his regime.

William Lind, a powerful defense industry lobbyist, was appointed by Obama to be deputy defense secretary, despite all the rants and promises Obama made about never appointing a lobbyist to a position of power in his regime.

On 23 January 2009, Obama lifted the ban on federal tax dollars funding abortion mill operations in Third World countries where eugenics are now again used to control the population.

Two days after seizing power, Obama signed an executive order to close Gitmo, making it clear that the comfort and happiness of the terrorists therein, and Europe’s opinion of us, are far more important than national security and the lives of American families.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton refuses to reveal all of the big foreign donors to her husband’s “foundation,” but the Washington Times says huge sums of money came from the People’s Republic of China via a secret 2006 stock transaction.

On 24 January 2009, despite his hundreds if not thousands of pledges and promises of total transparency in his regime, Obama held a secret closed-door meeting with his economic advisors as anger over his $1 trillion “economic stimulus” spending scheme, refusing to allow the media and American people access to what was discussed.

On 26 January 2009, Rep. John Boehner revealed that Obama and his Obamanistas in the Congress had added language in the Democrats’ stimulus bill that would allow Obama’s infamous voter fraud organization, ACORN, to receive billions of dollars in federal funding under the farcical guise of “neighborhood stabilization activities.”

On 26 January 2009, U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice, stated that the Obama regime seeks direct negotiations with the terrorist regime of Iran.

In a shocking insult to our military’s heroes, on 20 January 2009, Barack Obama became the first president in 56 years–since its inception–to skip the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball, which is held in honor of Medal of Honor recipients, Purple Heart recipients, paralyzed veterans and other military heroes. Obama did, however, find time to attend the Neighborhood Ball, which was filled with Hollywood’s ultra elite.

On 26 January 2009, with hat in hand and apologizing for the United States, Obama gave his first formal television interview as president not to an American network, but Al-Arabiya, saying America must stop “dictating,” a move and statement that was immediately seen by extremist Muslims as a sign of sure weakness and fear.

James B. Steinberg, whom Obama nominated to be deputy secretary of state, told the Foreign Relations Committee in writing that Americans have a free speech right guaranteed by the Constitution to taxpayer funded abortions.

On 26 January 2009, Timothy Geithner was sworn in as Obama’s secretary of the treasury despite having serious tax problems and having had an illegal alien housekeeper.

On 27 January 2009, Obama, for some reason confused, attempted to walk through a window to get back into the White House rather than using a door. There were no calls from liberals to have him take a urinalysis to determine why he did this.

The Obamanistas added $325,000,000 to the economic stimulus bill for a program to teach Americans how not to get the clap and other STDs. More additions:

$2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zerovemissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Dept. of Energy defunded last year because the project was inefficient

A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film

Obama’s economic stimulus bill includes his plan to force all American to have their entire health care history recorded in a government electronic database that privacy experts say could result in your most private medical issues being shared and viewed by no-one-knows who.

After the House passed what conservative watchdog Michelle Malkin calls the Generational Theft Act of 2009 worth $1 trillion + in debt to the American people and loaded with leftist pork like $335,000,000 for training Americans how not to catch the clap, Obama, who promised to lead a “new era of responsibility,” served up $100/ounce wagyu steak for some pals at the White House as shocking numbers of American homeless and jobless struggled to survive.

On 19 May 2008, Obama chided Americans that it is wrong for them to keep their thermostats on 72 degrees and stated, “That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.” On 21 January 2009, Obama’s chief political advisor, David Axelrod, said Obama will be keeping the Oval Office thermostat so high that “You could grow orchids in there” because “He likes it warm.”

President Obama went to bat for accused USS Cole attack mastermind Abu al-Nashiri and told military judge James Pohl to postpone the terrorist’s trial. On 29 January 2009, Pohl refused the presidential order. The attack killed 17 American sailors and wounded several dozen.

On 29 January 2009, it was learned that despite his many repeated promises, Obama was stacking his regime with lobbyists, such as William Corr (finance industry) and Mark Patterson (anti-tobacco industry, despite Obama being a heavy smoker), in addition to William Lynn of the defense industry.

In January 2009, more than 1 million homes from Texas to Maine were without power after a winter storm; dozens of people died in the storm. Estimates for some areas said it could be two weeks or more before power would be restored. Obama did nothing to save lives and restore power, instead cranking up the heat in the Oval Office, according to David Axelrod, to tropical levels. No liberals complained about Obama total lack of effective and timely response to the calamity, as they did after Katrina about Bush.

On 30 January 2009, it was learned that Tom Daschle, Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, is a tax cheat who owes gigantic sums of money to the IRS, and who as a senator took hundreds of thousands of dollars in “donations” from the health care industry, which he will control if approved for the post.

Despite his promise not to conduct foreign diplomatic and national security business before taking office, Barack Obama, it was learned on 1 February 2009, had his advisors from the primarily leftist pacifist group United States Institute of Peace and transition staff (including Ellen Laipson and William Perry) conducting secret, “very, very high-level” meetings in Damascus with Syrian and Iranian officials, according to Jeffrey Boutwell.

During an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer on Superbowl Sunday 2009, Obama mocked and insulted Jessica Simpson by stating she is “losing a weight battle, apparently,” after Lauer pointed out Simpson had replaced Obama on the cover of Us magazine. He also stated to Lauer that “People think I’m cool.”

Shortly after taking power, Obama appointed Carol Browner to be his regime’s energy and environment czar. He didn’t tell us that she is a Marxist and a member of the Socialist International Commission for a Sustainable World Society, according to that organization’s own website.

Nancy Killefer, nominated by Obama to be his regime’s chief performance officer, withdrew her name from nomination on 3 February 2009 after it was learned she owed huge sums to the IRS.

On 3 February 2009, Tom Daschle, nominated by Obama to be his regime’s secretary of health and human services, withdrew his name from nomination after it was learened he owed approximately $155,000 in back taxes that were only recently paid back after he was nominated.

On 4 February 2009, in a shocking break with the time-honored tradition of “generals serve at the pleasure of the president,” retired Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni said he was now refusing to accept and position in the Obama regime.

On 4 February 2009, Gallup reported that Obama’s favorable poll ratings, even before “Terrible Tuesday,” had plummeted a shocking 14%.

On 4 February 2009, it was learned that Obama’s Labor Secretary nominee, Hilda Solis, had lobbied for herself as a member of Congress, a clear violation of House ethics rules, and she is a pro-union activist, another ethics debacle that forced her nomination to be placed on hold.

On 4 February 2009, despits his voiciferous complaints about McCain’s politics of fear and despair, Obama stated that if his $1.2 trillion “stimulus” bill wasn’t passed, a “catastrophe” would befall America, many more millions would lose their jobs, and life as we know it in America would end.

On 4 February 2009, news reports told of Obama’s CIA head nominee, Leon Panetta, having taken many tens of thousands in “honorariums” from financial institutions that have taken bailout funds.

5 February 2009: On Obama’s orders, military judge Susan J. Crawford dropped all charges against USS Cole bombing mastermind Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, who led the operation that nearly sank the Cole, wounded dozens of sailors, and killed 17 sailors in Aden Harbor, Yemen, in October 2000.

On 5 February 2009, Obama ordered the pilot of Air Force One to fly him a mere 37 minutes to a retreat in Virginia to hobnob with his fellow Democrats. He refused to take Marine One or the presidential limo to save fuel and money and reduce air pollution, which he says causes global warming.

On 5 February 2009, Obama CIA chief nominee retracted his earlier lie about the Bush administration transfering prisoners to other facilities to be tortured. He totally recanted and said there was no validity to his statement.

Gun control or people control?

February 7, 2009

Those that preach the panacea of a society without violence often use legitimate people as whipping boys for their targets. Legal gun owners for example. Their twisted logic states that guns are evil, and that it is the gun that makes the person do evil things.

Those very same people expose the rest of us to extreme violence, and make it tough, if nor outright illegal to effectively defend ourselves. They make laws that create free fire zones for criminals and social misfits. Like schools, parks and so on. People that inhabit such places are turned into cannon fodder by other people that care little for anything other than their agenda. Such measures may have started out as well intentioned but the evidence is more than clear after so many mass shootings that the law of unintended consequences beats intentions every time.

So then, just who is it that commits most gun crime? A tiny minority are sociopaths that shoot up schools, malls and other public places. By far though, the vast majority are gang related. It is a sad fact of life that in America gangs are just about everywhere. Money is the driving force behind most of the violence, and innocent people get caught in these cross fires as groups vie for territory or “street cred.”

Drugs, and the lucrative profits from dealing that the ongoing drug war bolsters are most often tied to gun violence. At least according the the alphabet soup agencies. A recent CNN article pointed out that nearly all gun violence is gang related. So why then are so many different people, and organizations hell bent on disarming the rest of the population?

It could be blamed on mental illness, and many of the anti rights types are clearly hopolophobics. I think though, that is simply that old game of control. They want control of your life, and through that, your death.

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

February 6, 2009

“It’s the economy stupid.” Remember that? I do, and then I also remember George H.W. Bush’s statement “Read my lips, no new taxes.”

The current mess that the economy is in makes George Bush a handy whipping boy. While at the same time conveniently forgetting that it was the Congress that forced those in the market to grant loans and general credit to people that just plain were not qualified. Now that same Congress is playing what basically is the same hand in a card game called  “The House of Cards.” What follows are two similar, but different approaches for caging the tiger. While at the same time pointing out the fallacies of the Democrat proposal (s) that simply continue to hang onto the tigers tail.

First, from Mike Rosen from the Rocky Mountain News;

Here’s the opening paragraph from a New York Times story by reporter Robert Pear (please note that this is a news story in the oh-so-liberal New York Times): “The stimulus bill working its way through Congress is not just a package of spending increases and tax cuts to jolt the nation out of recession. For Democrats, it is also a tool for rewriting the social contract with the poor, the uninsured and the unemployed, in ways they have long yearned to do.”

Reinforcing that assessment is this quote from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel: “Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”

It would be bad enough if HR 1, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 – a gargantuan $900 billion so-called economic stimulus bill – were merely an overblown accumulation of largely misdirected, politically motivated or wasteful government spending. Examples in the bill abound, like $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, $4 million for ACORN or $75 million to discourage cigarette smoking. But those items are nickels and dimes. Calling it “pork laden” is too kind.

Then, from CNN we have a Libertarian perspective;

Editor’s note: Jeffrey A. Miron is senior lecturer in economics at Harvard University

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (CNN) — When libertarians question the merit of President Obama’s stimulus package, a frequent rejoinder is, “Well, we have to do something.” This is hardly a persuasive response. If the cure is worse than the disease, it is better to live with the disease.

In any case, libertarians do not argue for doing nothing; rather, they advocate eliminating or adjusting policies that are bad for the economy independent of the recession. Here is a stimulus package that libertarians can endorse:

Repeal the Corporate Income Tax: Repeal would spur investment, improve the transparency of corporate accounting, slash compliance costs, and avoid the distortions caused by the special-interest provisions in the tax code. Repeal can work fast, by raising companies’ share prices, increasing cash flow, and allowing corporations to lessen their need for bank lending.

hus repeal provides short-run stimulus and enhances long-run efficiency. Recent estimates suggest that tax cuts are at least as effective as spending increases in raising GDP. The adverse impact on the deficit is likely to be less than the $300-$350 billion in revenue the corporate tax takes in per year, since repeal spurs growth and therefore the revenue from other taxes.

Increase Carbon Taxes While Lowering Marginal Tax Rates: Reasonable people disagree about how much the U.S. should reduce its use of fossil fuels, but crowded highways, air pollution, and global warming all suggest that some reduction is desirable.

The effective way to accomplish this is higher gasoline or other carbon taxes, not the messy, complicated green spending in the Obama plan that will morph into pork in many cases. If higher carbon taxes are combined with lower marginal tax rates, the private sector faces better incentives on both counts. This approach avoids the higher deficits implied by Obama’s green initiatives.

Moderate the Growth of Entitlements: The elephant in the room amidst the stimulus debate is the impending imbalance in Social Security and Medicare as the baby boom generation moves into retirement. Without reductions in benefits, taxes will have to increase substantially, generating a major drag on the U.S. economy.

Both people have very defined ideas. Which beats the Democrat idea of tossing good money after bad IMO. What do you think..?
