BELLEVUE, WA – Naming an alleged Boston Marathon bomber as a victim of gun violence because he was shot dead by police shows just how morally bankrupt Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun “No More Names” bus tour really is, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
At a Tuesday rally in Concord, N.H., event organizers read the names of shooting victims since the Sandy Hook attack last Dec. 14. Among the names of the dead was Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the marathon bombing suspect. When his name was read, people in the audience declared, “He’s a terrorist,” according to published reports.
“This is so far beyond insulting, I’m not sure there’s a word in the dictionary to describe it,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “It clearly demonstrates that Michael Bloomberg’s gun prohibition effort will exploit even the names of dead terror suspects to further his anti-gun agenda. That’s a new low that I didn’t think was possible.”
Tsarnaev was fatally shot by police a few nights after the marathon bombing. His brother was wounded and is now in police custody.
“If Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns are willing to make a martyr of a terror suspect to push their agenda,” Gottlieb observed, “it raises questions about the legitimacy of their campaign to disarm America, one legislative step at a time. Next thing you know, they’ll be calling Osama bin Laden a victim of gun violence, too.
“Bloomberg is spending millions of dollars to push his vision of America onto the backs of every other citizen,” he stated. “For some reason, he thinks his billions give him the right to dictate how much soda you can drink, what you do with your garbage and how you exercise your Second Amendment rights. Now it’s clear the gun prohibition lobby, with Bloomberg in the lead, has no conscience and no shame. And these people want to dictate morality to us?

Gun Owners Foundation has come to the defense of a
West Virginia teenager who is actually being prosecuted (a.k.a., persecuted) for his pro-gun views.
Jared Marcum wore a T-
shirt to his Logan County
middle school in West Virginia on April 18 — a decision that has since sparked a national controversy.
No, Jared’s T-shirt did not depict a
Muslim beheading a victim while shouting
Alahu Akhbar! Such depictions of violence would violate the school’s dress code.
Jared’s T-shirt depicted a
hunting rifle with the message: “Protect Your Right.” And now, he faces up to a year in jail for doing so!
The outrageousness of this case has prompted the involvement of Gun Owners Foundation, which has agreed to help Jared
pro bono.
It all began on April 18. Everything was fine for the morning classes, but then the day went goofy when an anti-gun teacher confronted Jared in the lunch line and told him to turn his shirt inside out.
Jared pointed out that his shirt did not violate school policy.
The teacher sent Jared to the office where the same back and forth was repeated with the administration. Then a
police officer was summoned who ordered Jared to turn his shirt inside out. Jared told the officer and the administration that he was doing nothing wrong.
According to the officer, Jared’s shirt constituted a terrorist threat. He did not put that in his written report, but instead charged Jared with obstructing an officer (apparently Jared interrupted the officer while he was talking to the administration).
Jared was cuffed, charged and told that he could be fined up to $500 and spend up to a year in jail. The
prosecutor decided to press the charge, and a judge allowed the prosecution to proceed.
In a town of less than 2,000, what are the odds that at least five adults are this insane? And all on the same day?
Zero Tolerance can be better understood as Zero Judgment.
Jared was suspended for a day. When he returned to school, around 100 students wore similar shirts, and Jared wore the same shirt that fried the brains of five grownups two days earlier. Nothing happened. None of the students heard a word about their T-shirts.
Jared and his stepfather, Allen Ladieri, are to be commended for not backing down, and Gun Owners Foundation is actively supporting the case.
Usually, Gun Owners Foundation supports individuals appealing convictions on firearms charges that involve constitutional issues. But we think that Jared’s case warrants special attention, as it involves both First and Second Amendment freedoms.
If we are not allowed to make pro-Second Amendment statements — all because somebody is offended — then we can count the days to when we’ll lose the freedoms enshrined in both Amendments.
If Jared prevails in this case, we may have finally reached a turning point regarding Zero Tolerance, which is one of the most insidious policies being inflicted on the nation’s young people.

The revelations about the National Security Agency’s surveillance apparatus, if true, represent a stunning abuse of our basic rights. We as a free people need to demand the U.S. Congress reveal the full extent of the NSA’s spying programs. Further, we should demand of our appointed leaders that it cease and desist! It’s bad enough when those on the left in government say that we, loyal Americans, are terrorists, for disagreeing with their insane policies. Now though, they choose to use the force of the federal government against us.
While mostly known for support of the Second Amendment Conservative Libertarian Outpost has always, and will always stand for the entire Bill of Rights. I urge any and all to contact their Senators and Congresspersons to not only put a halt to this egregious use of power but to punish those responsible. No “Nuremberg style” defense allowed either! This went well beyond any sort of “just following orders” or doing my job.
Tools for doing this are available at the NRA homepage as well as Gun Owners of America. Or contact them directly by phone. If perhaps your representatives are some of those that recently have voted, or even that they hinted that they were in favor of more gun control remind them that it is the Second Amendment that protects the rest of the Bill of Rights. While we normally call for polite and courteous contact this may well be the time to blow their collective heads away with the force of your feelings about this!

Be a jolly good fellow, and pass the Beefeater!
When the British daily newspaper The Telegraph asked readers which of six suggested measures they would like to see introduced in the House of Commons, reader response was surprisingly tilted toward one significant proposal, but you probably won’t hear about it from the U.S. media.
Of the six suggestions that included setting a flat tax and placing a term limit on the office of Prime Minister, what drew more than 86 percent of the reader support was a proposal to repeal the handgun ban of 1997. Because this is an unscientific poll, the results will be doomed to a media black hole, but it should send a clear signal to gun prohibitionists in the United States that their habitual use of the United Kingdom as an example of domestic tranquility where guns are concerned just took a direct hit in the credibility department.
At last check, more than 20,400 people had responded to the on-line poll. Support for ending the handgun ban was at 86.4 percent, leaving all other proposals in the political dust.
The next highest vote getter is a suggested measure on the “greening of public spaces” followed by a proposal to ban spitting. The flat tax comes in fourth on the priority scale with a scant 6.4 percent of the votes, and limiting the Prime Minister’s terms could not even muster two percent support among respondents.
Parliament adopted the handgun ban following the tragic 1997 Dunblane massacre of school children; an incident that created an aftermath of emotion not unlike our own Sandy Hook tragedy. Law-abiding British citizens were forced to surrender their handguns as some sort of panacea, but violent crime in the United Kingdom has actually gone up, and self-defense with a firearm has gotten people in considerable trouble.
Americans learned from the British mistake, save for the anti-gun lobbyists who are determined to destroy the Second Amendment. Now it appears the good citizens of that island nation have also realized that banning gun ownership by lawful people does nothing to discourage criminals or crazy people from committing heinous crimes. In this country, we have been able to derail efforts to ban entire classes of firearms, realizing that the unilateral disarmament of good people only makes bad ones bolder.
There could be a strong connection between the Telegraph reader response and the recent brutal murder of a British soldier in broad daylight by a couple of extremist knife-wielding Muslim nut jobs. That incident reminded people that one must be able to fight back, and to defend oneself against a knife attack, it’s best to have a gun. Millions of law-abiding Americans understand that principle and have obtained concealed carry licenses and permits, and soon the residents of Illinois will join fellow citizens in the other 49 states in that regard.
The right of self-defense is the oldest human right, and the British experiment at public disarmament failed as miserably as our own gun bans in Chicago and Washington, D.C. The ten year Clinton ban on so-called “assault weapons” was just as ineffective against crime.
While the poll results for the Telegraph are not scientific, they are a red flag to Parliament that many of their constituents have realized the gun ban was a terrible mistake. Getting their firearms rights restored is not likely to be easy for British citizens, and here on this side of the Atlantic, gun owners are determined to prevent Congress from doing the same thing.

We’ve written you before about the immigration amnesty bill that will be debated on the Senate floor beginning June 10.
We had just been through a hard fight to stop gun bans and registration. And some of you may have even felt the immigration amnesty was not a “gun” issue.
But if the amnesty bill is passed, within 20 years, Washington could be as anti-gun as Albany, Hartford, and Sacramento.
This is because the bill will create at least 11,500,000 new citizens — but probably closer to 20,000,000 — and, if history is any guide, they will vote 71% of the time for far Left Democrats like
Barack Obama.
Impartial analysts have determined that Florida, Colorado, Nevada, and probably Arizona will never vote for Republicans again. Given this, for the rest of your life, the White House will be occupied by someone who is just as anti-gun and just as liberal as Barack Obama.
Conservatives in the Senate think that they can woo new immigrants to their side of the aisle. But it is informative that, after the last amnesty bill (the 1986
Simpson-Mazzoli bill signed by
Ronald Reagan), those people given citizenship were LESS LIKELY to vote for more conservative and constitutional candidates.
Currently, the two political parties nationally, stand in a delicate political balance.
Mitt Romney lost the presidency by 334,000 votes in four states (
Florida, Ohio, Virginia and
New Hampshire).
So if you add a net gain of almost 8.5 million Obama voters to the electorate, the same amnesty that turned California “blue” will probably turn the whole country anti-gun as well.
Already, the calls for gun confiscation in “blue” and “purple” states are growing louder and louder:
- New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that “confiscation could be an option” after the Sandy Hook shooting;
- Likewise, an Iowa legislator said that we need to “start taking” guns from law-abiding gun owners;
- This year, legislation in both Minnesota and Missouri would have (if enacted) forced residents to cough up their high-capacity magazines and many of their semi-automatic firearms;
- And legislators in New Jersey were recently caught on an open microphone saying that “we needed a bill that was going to confiscate, confiscate, confiscate.”
By 2035, the battle will no longer be about stopping the expansion of background checks. Most likely, it will be about stopping the government from coming to take your guns away. And there is nothing we will be able to do about it.

“Ninety-seven percent of Americans don’t live in New York City, don’t want to live in N.Y.C. and certainly don’t want a New York City mayor telling them how to live their lives,” said Erich Pratt, Director of Communications for Gun Owners of America. — New York Times, May 30, 2013
Gun Owners of America continues to battle New York City
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is spending millions of his dollars trying to bring big city gun control to the rest of the nation.
We beat him in the
U.S. Senate — for now — but his minions are still active across the country, trying to get various state legislatures to impose gun control and restrict your Second Amendment rights.
It can seem depressing when you listen to the media, hearing all the states that are pressing for more gun control in the aftermath of the
Sandy Hook shooting. But what they don’t tell you is that there are EVEN MORE states that are loosening restrictions on firearms.
Well, GOA has been involved in several of these fights, and we continue to be involved at the federal level as well. Here are just some of the ongoing, recent fights where GOA has played a role:
* GOA opposing backdoor gun control efforts at HHS. GOA alerted you last month to how the Obama administration is trying to make an end-around Congress, implementing regulations to take away people’s guns.
The “see a shrink, lose your guns” regulations published by Health and Human Services would expand the abusive practices that have disarmed 165,000 military veterans, and apply it to average citizens, as well.
* GOA pushing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to appoint a pro-gun replacement in the U.S. Senate. In case you missed the news, the notoriously anti-gun
Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) died earlier this week. So GOA is rallying the troops in the Garden State to press Governor Christie to appoint a pro-gun interim — a move that could very well stall gun control efforts in the U.S. Senate for several months.
* GOA lobbying Alaska and Missouri governors to sign nullification bills. Legislators in both states have sent bills to their respective governors which would prevent any official in the state from enforcing federal gun control laws.
In Missouri, Governor Jay Nixon has until today (June 6) to veto HB 436, or else the nullification bill becomes law in the
Show Me State.
In Alaska, GOA is expectant that Governor Sean Parnell will sign House Bill 69 — which, in addition to the nullification provisions mentioned above, would prohibit the federal government from regulating firearms made and possessed wholly within the
state of Alaska.
* GOA presents freedom awards to sheriffs championing nullification. Speaking to scores of sheriffs at a conference in Missouri last Friday, GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt awarded two outstanding sheriffs with freedom awards.
The “High Noon Award” was presented to Wisconsin’s Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr., for “standing for truth when others run, for telling the truth even though politically incorrect.”
And Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County, Kentucky was presented with the “Nullifier of the Year” award by GOA for promising to not enforce any gun law that violates the Kentucky or U.S. Constitutions.
* GOA assists efforts in CO to recall anti-gun Senate President. Democrat Colorado legislators used the Sandy Hook shooting as an excuse for imposing greater gun restrictions in March. Since then, there has been a grassroots effort to hold Senate President John Morse (D) accountable — an effort which GOA has aided.
While the deadline for collecting signatures was June 3, activists were able to collect more than double the number that was needed to force a recall election. Once the signatures are certified by the Secretary of the State, then the Governor will set a date and time for the recall which will most likely take place in September.
Firearms Manufacturers Offered Rent-Free Land in Missouri
While many gun companies are now leaving Colorado because of their betrayal on gun rights, John Negri has set forth an offer that gun manufacturers may not be able to refuse.
Speaking on “America’s Voice Now” — Missouri radio program hosted by GOA member Michael Evans — Negri is making three parcels of land available at a no-charge lease for 20 years.
Negri is extending the invitation to gun manufacturers or distributors that have publicly announced they’re leaving their current state because of restrictive firearms regulations.
Interested parties, firearms manufacturers, accessory makers and distributors can contact Michael Evans at mevans@AmericasVoiceNow.org or call 417-372-0686 for more information or to obtain a package outlining the parcels available and their respective benefits and features.
Thank you!

Gun Owners of America |
Encourage the Nevada Governor to Veto Gun Control!
Gov. Sandoval is sticking his finger in the wind, trying to decide whether to issue veto
You don’t even have to live in Nevada.
But you should know that Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval (R) is trying to decide whether he should sign or veto SB 221, a bill so extreme that the left-of-center United States Senate even voted down a version of it.
If he signs this Universal Background Check bill, it will have ramifications for you — even if you don’t live in the Silver State.
So please call 775-684-5670 and press “2” — to vote AGAINST the universal background check bill (SB 221). You don’t have to live in the state. You don’t even have to give your name or address — the entire process is automated and it will take you less than 13 seconds.
There are many reasons why ALL gun owners from around the country should call.
For starters, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is generating his own calls into the Governor’s hotline, encouraging the Sandoval to sign the background (registration) bill.
But YOUR VOTE could make the difference!
You may not live in Nevada. And so you may be thinking, “Why should I take action on an out-of-state bill?”
The reason is that what happens in Nevada wont’ stay in Nevada!
U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) has been on the fence in regard to universal background checks. He voted right on a key vote back in April, but we had to put a LOT of pressure on him in the state to get him to do so.
Every vote count that the Left made public had Sen. Heller as a possible pick up for their side. And that’s why we need to keep Nevada from adopting a universal background check bill. If the Republican Governor signs this bill, it becomes much more likely that this U.S. Senator from Nevada will vote to strap the rest of the country with gun control.
So please call the Governor’s hotline number — no matter where you live!
ACTION. Call 775-684-5670 and press “2” — to vote AGAINST the universal background check bill (SB 221). Again, you don’t have to live in the state. As noted above, you don’t even have to give your name or address — the entire process is automated and it will take you less than 13 seconds. So no matter where you live, please make this call for the sake of freedom!
Also, please distribute this alert to EVERY PRO-GUN PERSON you know — your family and friends, even your enemies — as long as they are pro-gun! We need to flood this hotline with people pressing “2.”
BILL HIGHLIGHTS. There are a lot of problems with SB 221, but these are the key ones for Nevada residents:
* SB 221 would expand background checks — and hence the framework for gun registration — to most private gun sales. Even if you live hundreds of miles from a gun shop, if you want to transfer your gun to your next-door neighbor, you and he have to travel together to the gun shop (even if the buyer holds a concealed carry permit!).
* Under most circumstances, when you and your neighbor travel to the gun shop, he’s going to have to get a check with the FBI. Given that 8% of these checks result in “false denials” — normally because his name is like someone else’s — you’ll have to stick around the gun shop for three days. Most likely, your neighbor will effectively be denied the right to own a firearm.
* Even if you’re a purchaser with a CCW, the dealer has to make a 4473 on you — and, increasingly, ATF is going around to gun shops and copying (a.k.a., registering) that information.
* If you go through the entire Brady Check procedure and it turns out the purchaser of your firearm — unbeknownst to you (or the Brady System) — is a marijuana user, you go to prison.
Bottom line: This is a horrible bill! Please call 775-684-5670 and press “2.”

“According to conservative staffers [on Capitol Hill], Gun Owners of America was the most active outside group in early efforts to block all gun control efforts including Toomey-Manchin.” — The Examiner, April 28, 2013
Your GOA has been on the front lines, fighting for your rights.
While the news media has been focusing on several Obama Administration scandals in recent weeks — and rightfully so — don’t for a minute think that efforts to pass gun control in the Senate have died down.
They haven’t. The truth is that Representatives
Pat Toomey (R-PA) and
Joe Manchin (D-WV) are still at work — still trying to pull
Senators over to their anti-gun side.
Sen. Toomey told the Philadelphia Inquirer recently that he is looking “to bring some more folks on board” — and that if successful, “then of course it would be worth bringing [gun control] up again.”
Both he and Manchin are still at it, trying to twist arms and coerce people over to his side.
Congress is just finishing up its Memorial Day break, so you are encouraged to resume contacting them now that they will soon be getting back to work. Let them know your approval (or disapproval) of their recent votes in the
U.S. Senate.
To this end, GOA has just updated its website to give you the ammunition you need to hold your Senators accountable:
NOTE: In regard to the Senate voting records, you can click on the title of each vote to read an explanation of each vote. And regarding the grades that are posted, you will note that the following Senators saw their grades drop as a result of their recent votes IN FAVOR of gun control:
Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
Joe Donnelly (D-IN)
Roger Wicker (R-MS)
Dean Heller (R-NV)
Martin Heinrich (D-NM)
Pat Toomey (R-PA)
Joe Manchin (D-WV)
Gun Owners of America has continued to expose the gun grabbers’ lies, and we have continued to lobby House and Senate offices in opposition to gun control.
As noted by the Examiner (above), your GOA was the most active group in blocking gun control. But that was only possible because of your loud voice backing us up.
As stated by Slate in April: “While [GOA’s] bank account is relatively paltry … its members often get Tea Party loud, inundating lawmakers’ offices with calls.”
That’s a testimony to your hard work!

New York Michael Bloomberg exemplifies everything that is wrong with modern politics. I don’t mean to sound bitter or to wage some kind of irrational mudslinging campaign; I mean it in the most literal sense. He is everything that is rotten about politics in America.
No longer content with disarming the law-abiding in his own crime-riddled island wasteland, Bloomberg has set his sights on a much grander and far-reaching goal: disarming the American populace…. Because it has worked so well for the good citizens of New York, D.C., Chicago, Newark and South Central L.A.
Bloomberg spends his days and nights looking to invoke his will on the people and punish those that resist. Some might call it fascism, but when it’s a lefty doing it, all is forgiven.
Bloomberg and his stormtroopers, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, have begun a pricey $350,000 ad campaign to target Arkansas Democrat Senator Mark Pryor who is up for re-election next year. His crime? He had the audacity to vote against the unconstitutional universal background check bill.
