‘Obama has dramatically overshot’

January 17, 2013

President Obama outlined several major legislative initiatives that he claims will reduce gun-related violence, but representatives at Gun Owners of America say the proposals will assault Americans’ right to keep and bear arms and do nothing to prevent senseless killings.

The Obama legislative agenda includes several controversial items, starting with universal background checks to make sure guns are not purchased by felons or “someone legally prohibited from buying” a firearm.

Mike Hammond has served in the offices of three U.S. senators and is now general counsel at Gun Owners of America. He said this provision should be opposed on two grounds. His first concern centers around the people Obama thinks should be prohibited from buying guns.

“In about 150,000 cases, we’re talking about veterans who came back from Baghdad or Kabul, perhaps sought counseling for a traumatic experience and, as a result, the Veteran’s Administration appointed a fiduciary to supervise their financial affairs and then sent their names to this secret list in West Virginia that prohibits people from owning guns,” Hammond said. “These people didn’t do anything wrong. They served their country honorably, and there’s no reason they should lose their constitutional rights because they sought someone to counsel them.”

While Hammond fears law-abiding Americans could easily be blocked from exercising their Second Amendment rights, he also claims involving the government in each firearm transaction sets the stage for more heavy-handed actions from Uncle Sam.

“It’s increasingly clear to us that the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are using these secret lists to begin to compile the beginnings of a national gun registry,” Hammond said. “I personally drafted the Smith Amendment, which would prohibit them from using the Brady Check in order to create a national gun registry. But when senators have recently asked the FBI, ‘How are you complying with the Smith Amendment and how long are you keeping the names?’ they’re told to go take a long walk off a short pier. There is a danger that the Obama administration wants to create this gun registry using this universal check. There is no way in heaven’s name that we are going to consider anything like that.”

Hammond said a national gun registry is a slippery slope to government confiscation of weapons once the government knows where they are. He uses recent events in New York state as an example, since Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed new gun-control legislation and then alluded to confiscating firearms that are now deemed illegal.

In pushing for the background check, Obama contended that 40 percent of gun sales have no background checks. Hammond said that statistic is pure fiction.

“They asked the FBI about that and basically the FBI said that the gun-control advocates, for lack of a better term, just pulled that statistic out of their ear,” he said. “I mean they just made that statistic up.”

The biggest congressional fight will likely center around Obama’s call for a ban on assault weapons and his demand that magazines carry a limit of 10 bullets. The president said weapons used in a theater of war should not be brought into a movie theater.

“That is a lie. When I was in the military, I had a weapon that was designed for the theater of war. It was called an M-16 rifle,” Hammond said. “It was a fully automatic rifle. Unless you get a special license from the FBI, you can’t own one of those guns in America. That is an absolute lie.”

“What the AR-15 is is a gun that is designed cosmetically to look like a full automatic but operates nothing like it,” he said.

Hammond also rejects the proposed limit on bullets in a magazine, saying shooters like the ones in Connecticut and Colorado could just as easily have brought multiple guns and multiple magazines and achieved the same horrific response.

Looking at the big picture of the debate, Hammond believes that Obama reached too far in this agenda.

“Obama, in this case, has dramatically overshot. I think he has overshot in a way that is going to destroy his entire gun-control package,” argued Hammond, who said Obama initially leaned toward restoring the ban on semi-automatic weapons that was in effect between 1994-2004. He said that ban didn’t address some of the more recent cosmetic features on guns, like the one used in the Sandy Hook massacre, so the scope of this legislation got much bigger.

“So he began adding more guns and more guns and more guns,” Hammond said. “The people who know what guns are out there tell us that the resulting legislation now will ban probably about 50 percent of the long guns currently in circulation and about 80 percent of the handguns in current circulation. Let me state that again. Barack Obama and his proposals would ban most guns currently in circulation.”

Hammond also rejected the president’s 23 executive actions, particularly the ones that encourage doctors to ask patients about guns and share that information with the government.

Oathkeeper 151: Tells it like it is. No Nuremberg defense allowed!

January 17, 2013

http://youtu.be/8FpLyPP-9LU

In this video, Oathkeeper151, a New Jersey Police Officer who has been a member of Oath Keepers since 2009, makes it clear that he will not obey orders that violate the Bill of Rights. In particular, he says he will not be used as a tool of oppression against the American people who resist and refuse to comply with infringement on their right to bear arms, such as legislation or executive orders that decree they must register, get finger printed and photographed, like a criminal.

He asks his fellow officers what they are going to do if that happens. Will they keep their oaths? Here is his own description of his video:

In this video I ask my fellow Police Officers what they would do, if they were given an unlawful order. I also touch on the Assault Weapons Ban introduced by Senator Feinstein, and how this bill has the potential of putting us Police Officers in a very bad/even fatal predicament.

I spoke to him on the phone and he made it clear that he is not afraid to take this public stand because this is what needs to happen.  He says the peace officers across America need to stand up and let the people know that they are on the side of the Bill of Rights, and that they will protect the rights of the people. In one of the comments on his video, another officer had this to say:

I’ll lay my badge down, stop doing what I love if someone tries to make me do something immoral or unconstitutional. Good video, take care

Oathkeeper151 agrees. He told me that if there were door to door raids for guns against Americans who refused to comply with registration or bans, he would either defend the people with his badge on, stepping between them and the oath breakers doing the raids, or he would lay his badge down on the table and then go join the people in resisting. He loves his work as a police officer, but his oath, and his responsibility to protect the people of his community, is more important than his job. His oath comes first. The rights of the people come first…. and he is not alone.

Let’s Give Up on the Constitution..?

January 1, 2013

People like this author need their butts kicked! Period!

AS the nation teeters at the edge of fiscal chaos, observers are reaching the conclusion that the American system of government is broken. But almost no one blames the culprit: our insistence on obedience to the Constitution, with all its archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions.

SOURCE As USUAL

What “observers?” The jerks that support taking people’s property by the government simply to increase tax revenue? The cretins that are all for freedom of expression just so long as that speech agrees with what they agree with? The mentally ill that seek to spread their Hoplophobia and turn us all into victims in a nationwide free fire zone? Perhaps the author is referring to those that engage in legalized theft from those that labored and took risks to become better off than their neighbor’s? Maybe those that are fighting sexism in our society, just so long as the sexism isn’t being perpetrated by a female. Or by the racist’s that abound in America, but only those that are not of northern european decent?

Perhaps all of them?

I would suggest that we give up on people such as the author, and send them packing.

“Murder every NRA member” from those peace lovers on the left!

December 30, 2012

Seems that all those peaceniks on the left really are not so peaceful after all. Not to mention that Feinstein, Schumer, and Lautenberg are hard at work as usual committing treason to their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution. I do believe in the death penalty, and treason is indeed a capital offense.

I am so sick of these better than thou’s inflicting their perceived utopia that I could personally come up with a hot barrel of tar and a feather bed! These are the very same people that came up with ex post facto law, the permanent taking of rights for less than felonious behavior, as well as the taking of private property rights.

Remember, in 1994 it only took one day for Congress and President Clinton to “legally” remove guns from the hands and homes of law-abiding Americans!

Remember, in 1984 it only took one day for Congress and President Reagan to “legally” remove title II guns from the hands and homes of law-abiding Americans! So much for arch conservatives!

Remember Ruby Ridge, and the Waco massacre. Never forget the War of Northern Aggression. Never forget that ours is anything but a benevolent government.

Some post turkey day observations

November 24, 2012

Seems that the top jurist’s in Egypt have figured out what so many of us knew as the so called Arab Spring unfolded before the world. Nothing but a takeover by radical muslims in the guise of some sort of democracy, and epic fail obama even tried to make us all believe that this would be a good thing. Talk about a sales pitch that would make snake oil marketers proud!

Then we have this; Chris Brown still being hammered over his row with Rhianna. Didn’t he do enough time? Didn’t he go through all the counseling, and pay the fines? Why is this big news ? Why bother with it at all? From all accounts they have resolved their issues. Let them both go on with their lives without others telling them how to live those lives or castigating either one for how they go about it?

Two deaths of note, or better said that made the news. Hector Camacho took a dirt bath after taking a bullet in the face. Damn! He was one hell of a boxer! Even if he was one of the sweet sciences bad boys. Larry Hagman, the man everyone loved to hate every week on Dallas passed away after a terrible battle with cancer. Rest in peace men.

Then there has been the weather. From “Super Storm Sandy” to the latest cold front and attendant storm that chased me from Seattle to just outside of Chicago the idiots are all calling it a result of man made global warming. In Wyoming, we call it winter and never mind that scientific fact that we are emerging from the “Little Ice Age.”

The absolute joke of the week, as usual, involve the epic failure known as the obama. Yes, we knew this would happen. The election is being hailed as an overwhelming victory and mandate. Sorry folks, but it simply was not. He barely won. We lost, but not by much, and we have only ourselves to blame for running yet another half-assed conservative instead of a real non compromiser that loves the nation as well as the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

On to better things! Those that roll there own check out Magnum Pistol 300! Talk about some serious bang!

Keep the shiny side up…

The Democrats’ sop to gun owners

November 23, 2012
Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) — who is “F” rated by Gun Owners of America — is pushing a “hunting” bill that authorizes the Obama administration almost unlimited power to seize private lands for “environmental” purposes.
Anti-gun Majority Leader Harry Reid has scheduled Tester’s bill for a vote, and it will probably take place on Thursday.
ACTION:  It is imperative that gun owners contact their Senators and ask them to OPPOSE S. 3525.  Click here to tell them that the modest conservation gains allowed in the bill are totally offset by giving unelected bureaucrats the authority to steal land from hunters and private property owners.
BACKGROUND

(1) When the “wetlands” provisions of the Clean Water Act were originally enacted, no one could have foreseen that a landowner would go to prison for applying clean dirt to a junkyard adjacent to a sewer, which was determined to be “wetlands.”  But environmentalists have been brilliant in taking seemingly innocuous programs and massively expanding them through fraudulent interpretations or tiny loopholes.
(2) S. 3525 has “sweeteners.” It allows archery bows to be transported through national parks under very limited circumstances, although Obama could do this by administrative fiat.  It also allows, but does not mandate, Pittman-Robertson funds to be used for target ranges. But none of these small discretionary provisions offset the potential damage this does to the rights of individual landowners.
(3) THE ISSUE OF LOST OPPORTUNITY:  If this is the Democrats’ sop to gun owners, it may make it a lot more difficult to secure national concealed carry reciprocity or to stop anti-gun measures and treaties.

THE CENTRAL PROBLEM WITH S. 3525

The central problem with the bill is that it allows seizure of private lands for “aquatic habitats” [Sections 201(8) and 204 (d) (2)]. The definition of this term is limitless and includes seizure of lands in order to “protec[t] the quality and quantity of water sources” and to “serv[e] as a buffer protecting the aquatic environment.” [Section 201 (2)]
Thus, a factory that “pollutes” can be seized to protect an “aquatic habitat.” The only real limit on seizure in Section 204 is the requirement that the government manage the seized property “in accordance with the purposes of this subtitle.”

WHO ARE THE DECISION MAKERS?

The National Fish Habitat Board consists of 27 members. The initial members (Obama appointees) select the remaining members. Thus while the “commercial fishing industry” supposedly has a representative, you can bet that that fisherman is an Obama-supporter and will support his agenda.
The board then enters into “partnerships” with, inter alia, outside groups. And you can bet that every liberal environmental organization in the country will now be feeding at this pig sty. The outside groups recommend fish habitat programs and plans for seizing private lands.
Bottom line:  This will give immense powers to unelected bureaucrats — a clear violation of the Separation of Powers which our Founders implemented as a way of protecting our rights.
WHAT ABOUT SECTION 211 (e) (2)?

This supposedly requires the consent of landowners prior to having their lands seized. But, note the sneaky loophole: Section 211 (e) (2) applies only to property that is being seized with federal funds and, under Section 204 (e), half the funds need to come from non-federal sources.
So while this section is put forward as a “protection,” it actually doesn’t provide total immunity because the government can take a land owner’s property using non-federal funds — and there is no protection in the bill against that.

It’s now official: Taxation against the peoples will is Constitutional

June 28, 2012

The Supreme Court today released it’s verdict on the oh so blatantly UN-Constitutional ACA / obamacare act. They call it a tax.

If that is so then it is indeed time for a modern day tea party. One that includes a rather thorough tar and feathering for five supposedly intelligent people that set the rules that we all are supposed to agree upon living under.

But these are the very same idiots that believe that losing ones rights is not a punishment… Perhaps there is a cure.

  • Repeal obamacare in it’s entirity.
  • Pass another law that explicitly forbids the government from passing any law or regulation, or any other means of fiat that requires any person to purchase anything.
  • Force Supreme Court Justices to stand for election every ten years.

Just how much more of this kind of crap will the American People keep putting up with? Why? I ask, be a “Law Abiding Citizen” when those that Laird it over us themselves so distort the law that they are not abiding by it?

Fed’s Fisher: Obama Plans Fuel ‘Fears of Inflation’

February 22, 2012

More Fed easing might backfire, and Congress and the Obama administration should streamline tax and regulatory policies to spur long-term job growth, says Richard Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

“No amount of monetary accommodation will change the pathology” that businesses face, Fisher said Feb. 15 in a speech in San Marco, Texas.

“Excessive monetary accommodation might only add a further dosage of angst, fueling fears of future inflation,” Bloomberg News quoted Fisher as saying.
On Jan. 25, the Fed said it would keep rates near zero at least through late 2014, extending a previous date of mid-2013 or later.

The Dallas Fed president, who doesn’t vote on policy this year, has been among the most vocal internal Fed critics, dissenting twice last year against moves to push down long-term rates and to keep the benchmark U.S. interest rate near zero until at least mid-2013. He voted five times in 2008 in favor of tighter policy.

“The greatest impediments to investing in and creating jobs in the U.S. are the current tax code and regulatory burden and uncertainty, as well as lagging workforce skills,” Fisher told the Texas Manufacturers Summit 2012.

The 62-year-old Fisher cited a recent Harvard Business School survey of businesses that “more than 70 percent of respondents expect U.S. competitiveness to decline” during the next few years.

“No one ? business operator, worker or consumer ? can plan for the long term with confidence until the federal government removes the angst that is associated with run-away deficits and unfunded liabilities that threaten to drown our economy in debt,” Fisher said.

Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said during a news conference after the Jan. 25 Federal Open Market Committee meeting that the Fed is keeping the option open of buying more bonds. The Fed pushed down the rate close to zero in December 2008 and has engaged in two rounds of asset purchases totaling $2.3 trillion to boost the economy and reduce the jobless rate of more than 8 percent.

Fisher briefly described the U.S. economy, by saying, “The national unemployment rate is beginning to ebb. But too many Americans remain out of work and for too long.”

Fisher devoted most of his speech to describing the economy of Texas, which he said has been one of three states to reach peak employment again following the past recession in part because of tax and regulatory policies that favor job creation. A restaurant operator may spend as much as two years to get a permit for expansion in California that takes six weeks in Texas, Fisher said.

“If you examine the differences among New York and California and Texas, you will note that these former power states have less flexible labor rules,” said Fisher, who has been president of the Dallas Fed since 2005 and whose district includes Texas, northern Louisiana, and southern New Mexico.

The Dallas Fed and other regional banks released unprecedented details on Jan. 31 about their personal wealth. Fisher’s disclosure listed holdings exceeding $20 million, including millions of dollars in municipal bonds and 7,113 acres of land in states including Iowa, Missouri, and Texas.

And yet again we, the people get to deal with the utter stupidness of the obaminites when it comes to basic economics…

Figure it out. We are heading straight into a situation of stagflation, and utter economic depression…
