From Anthony Martin Conservative Examiner.

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to another edition of Musings After Midnight. It has been very cold here in the mountains, foothills, and Piedmont region of the Carolinas. So, pull up a chair and warm yourself by the fire, and have some hot coffee.

I wish I had good news to report to you this morning, but truth is, I do not. In fact, the news is not just bad. It is dismal. But you need to know the truth. You need to be informed about what we face, and that means a sobering, grim assessment of what is ahead.

Those of you who read these pages regularly are aware that ever since Obama and the Democrats in Congress announced their all out assault on the gun rights of citizens in the aftermath of Sandy Hook, I have maintained that we are down to 30 seconds to midnight on the doomsday clock — the hour when the darkness falls on America for perhaps a thousand years.

I must now inform you that we are down to 15 seconds to midnight, and the clock is ticking. In the time since we last spoke, circumstances have changed for the worse. Frankly, I don’t give the nation any hope apart from an all out war to restore the Constitution. I wish with all my heart that it were not so. I am truly grieved by it, and my heart is very heavy.

In spite of the fact that Obama’s attempt to destroy citizens’ rights has been met with numerous roadblocks in Congress, the states, one by one, are falling into the most egregious tyranny. New York, Connecticut, Colorado, and Maryland have passed laws that are clearly unconstitutional and that fly in the face of a clear, absolute declaration in our Constitution that the right of citizens to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. One of those states is going to begin fingerprinting all citizens who purchase firearms and ammo as if they were common criminals.

These acts, these laws, are themselves criminal. The very act of attacking the freedom and liberty of the American people is a criminal act in and of itself. In the best of all possible worlds, the politicians in each of these states who voted in favor of these tyrannical laws would be sitting in jail as we speak, charged with the crime of seeking to deny citizens their Constitutional rights. They are the ones who should be treated as common criminals, the lowest of the low, little small minded tin horn fiefs who are drunk with their own power. Their actions should not be tolerated anywhere by anyone. And they should not be allowed to serve in an elected office no matter what kind of “majority vote” they get. Sometimes, especially in these modern times when imbeciles reign supreme, the majority makes decisions that are too stupid to be valid.

Our Framers stated clearly that when laws are passed that are contrary to the Constitution, those laws are not to be obeyed and the people responsible for passing them are tyrants guilty of crimes along with the people who elected them to office. We don’t have “majority rule” in America nor should we. What we have is a Constitutional Republic based on principles that even the majority cannot negate. As long as the majority adheres to those principles, then well and good. But when they discard those principles, then the majority of voters are just as criminal and tyrannical as the crooked liberty-killers they elect to office. Their decisions are to be viewed as rubbish that do not carry the weight of law or authority. And at that point, the Patriots, the real descendants of Jefferson, Washington, Madison, Franklin, Adams, Henry, and Webster are obligated to defy the majority, disobey the unconstitutional laws passed by the tyrants, and if necessary forcibly remove such tyrants from office.

What does this mean exactly?

It means that I am not obligated to obey any law that directly contradicts the Constitution of the United States. I am not obligated to submit to the authority of tyrants. I do not recognize their authority. They are illegitimate, and therefore, their laws are illegitimate. And if you as a citizen support and enable the work of these tyrants, then you are not my fellow countryman but a traitor worthy of nothing but disdain and derision…and jail. I have exactly ZERO respect for any citizen who supports robbing me of my rights.

Thus, to New York, Connecticut, Colorado, and Maryland, I will say to you that you are are a shameful embarrassment to our country. You are a worthless bundle of mindless sheep being led around by a pied piper into a brave new world that neither recognizes nor affirms that human beings have certain natural unalienable rights, except for what you make up in your demented minds that have been rotted from within, from stem to lobe, by your progressive vision that is based on rank Marxism. You would deny me the right to defend myself with a firearm but turn around and claim that all human beings have a “right” to health insurance, even if you have to force me to pay for it. You are a fool. A despicable, sick, and evil fool.

The situation as it now stands is this. The states are falling into tyranny, clearly, blatantly, and arrogantly defying a direct statement in our Constitution that protects the right of all citizens to defend themselves with firearms. Barack Obama and his feminized, kept man with a rich wife, otherwise known as “Lurch” John Kerry, have approved the U.N. Small Arms Treaty that reaches down into our sovereign nation, grabs it by the throat, and requires it to regulate firearms. And in the Senate, some Republicans are standing perched and ready, like the deadly, menacing fowl sitting on powerlines ready to swoop down to slaughter their human prey, as depicted in Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” to help their Democrat counterparts pass a stringent assault on private property rights by requiring private gun sales, citizen to citizen, to be subject to background checks.

You had best be watching potential traitors such as McCain, Graham, Murkowski, Portman, Corker, Alexander, Kirk, Collins, Flake, Toomey, and Ayotte very closely on this. They will sell us out in a heartbeat if we do not keep up immense pressure on them to resist any and all gun control measures, including this sham and ruse of “universal background checks,” which is nothing but a backdoor method of registration, a national database, and eventually, confiscation.

Party affiliation is meaningless in this matter. It should be noted that in the blue states that passed unlawful restrictions on gun rights, Republicans helped the Democrat majority in those states pass these laws.

Frankly, I don’t care one whit about Party here. I have seen the truth about some things, and it ain’t pretty. In the Senate there are only six Republicans I have one ounce of respect for. I have ZERO respect for any Democrat. In the House, I can respect and affirm 40 to 50 Republicans at the most. Again, ZERO Democrats. But this means that in both the House and Senate I cannot support nor respect a large majority of the Republicans. The Democrats are a total lost cause.

Some want me to name the Republicans I can support. I can readily do that, at least in the Senate since they are so few in number. They are Cruz, Paul, Inhofe, Rubio, Vitter, and Lee. This does not mean I agree with them on everything. But at least they have some principles. Most of the others are as worthless as the Democrats.

Are you beginning to understand why I am so pessimistic about the future of the country?

The electoral process has failed us. We can no longer trust the voters to do the right thing, make sane decisions, or even be fully informed on the issues. Both Parties have failed us. And as for the White House? How can any sane American feel good about the country when two times in a row the voters went for a grandiose, dictatorial egomaniac?

And the Vice President is a village idiot who I’m surprised can remember his own name.

For a while when it became clear that Obama was not going to get most of his gun control proposals approved, I had begun to feel a bit better about the country. But now it has become all too apparent that the season of hope was to be shortlived. I see no way out of this mess short of Jefferson’s final solution. The tree of liberty from time to time must be refreshed with the blood of patriots and of tyrants, said Jefferson.

Jefferson knew something that no one else knew, or at least they would not admit that they knew — the kind of liberty they envisioned for this country is very fragile and tends to erode with time at the hands of evil men who make their way into positions of power. And thus, in order to keep those liberties from being totally annihilated, Patriots must be willing to do whatever is necessary to preserve or restore them, including going to war with fellow citizens and the tyrants they have placed in elected office.

It is now 15 seconds to that hour when this nation plunges into the most important war since the American Revolution of 1776. This will be a war to restore the Constitution that has been attacked, ignored, ridiculed, maligned, shredded, and violated by the president, the Congress, the Supreme Court, and at least a dozen states.

If the states continue down the path set by New York, Connecticut, Colorado, and Maryland, then they had best get set. They are starting a long, hard-fought, and bloody civil war. If Obama and Democrats in Congress, along with a few faux Republicans, continue their assault on the liberties protected by the Constitution, then their actions are tantamount to a declaration of war on the citizens. And if the Supreme Court continues to make asinine decisions such as affirming Obamacare in spite of no precedent and no rational argument in favor of it, then they, too, are asking for war.

The citizens have been arming themselves to the hilt for four years. And they are accumulating ammunition, just like Nappy at Homeland Security. You got bullets, Nappy? Well, we have them too…billions of rounds.

And let this be a warning to those who sit in the seats of power in what was once this Constitutional Republic — if you intend to open fire on us, then be fully aware that we will respond in kind. We will never start a war. But you will. We have seen people of your ilk in action before — in Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, Communist China, Communist Cuba, and Communist North Korea. We know what your kind will do if you feel your power is being threatened.

Do you want to be like them? Well, if you do, be fully aware that we, the people of America, are not submissive sheep like they were in those countries. We are American Patriots who will fight to the death for liberty. Fair warning.

The next Secretary of State; John Kerry..?

December 10, 2012

As always, the epic failure known as obama appears to be considering Senator John Kerry for the position of Secretary of State. I believe that would be an excellent choice. But not for any reasons that are positive. Indeed, my sole purpose would be for exposing the administrations ongoing utter incompetence. John Kerry, who served in the Viet Nam War and awarded himself a Silver Star, with “V” device, for shooting a fleeing enemy combatant. Indeed, a true war hero that later tossed some medals over a fence as a war protester. He is clearly a walking talking insult to every man and woman that served in the war, and most especially to his fellow Sailors that served on the Swift Boats. Purple Hearts for mosquito bites and trying to fool hunters into supporting him by buying a license and talking like a good old boy in a camera shoot to garner election support is the sort of performance we could expect from him should he be confirmed.

Once again, John Kerry would be an utter failure as a man. Perfectly fitting into the obama regime.

Those Lying Flip-floppiing Politicians

October 5, 2012
The 2012 elections have now entered the homestretch.  The candidate debates are ramping up, and politicians all over the country are blanketing the airwaves with lies about their legislative records.
It’s not a new problem.  Remember the now-infamous quote from presidential hopeful Kerry about the Iraq War:  “I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.”
Rarely has a politician exposed himself more shamefully than the Massachusetts Democrat did back in 2003.  Of course, everyone knows that most politicians do what Kerry did — they are just a lot better in disguising their duplicity.
Gun Owners of America has released its Candidate Rating — something the organization has done for more than two decades — to help gun owners ferret out those lying politicians who “voted for your gun rights before they voted against them.”
Consider a recent letter from Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri to a GOA activist who is a constituent in her state.  Asked whether she would support this pro-gun legislation to allow gun owners to carry their guns across the country, McCaskill said:
“I strongly support legal and safe gun ownership by law-abiding citizens and have consistently voted to uphold this constitutional right.   For example, in the 111th Congress, I voted to … require the National Park Service to honor state gun laws when gun owners enter National Parks in their states.”
Did this Senator — who is F-rated by GOA — really vote to repeal the National Parks gun ban?  Hardly.  You see, this is where McCaskill pulls a “John Kerry,” essentially saying:  “I supported gun rights before I opposed them.”
When the repeal of this gun ban came before her, McCaskill opposed it — voting against a stand-alone amendment to repeal the National Parks gun ban which was added to a credit card “reform” bill.  (Senate Roll Call #188, May 12, 2009.)
Later on, she supported the underlying credit card bill so, presumably, Sen. McCaskill must think this allows her to say she helped repeal the National Parks gun ban — even though she voted against it when it was a stand-alone amendment.
In other words, she supported the National Parks gun ban before she “opposed” it.
Considering politicians’ tendency to obfuscate, how is a gun owner to know where his member of Congress really stands on the Second Amendment?  To be honest, it’s a full-time job tracking down the voting records of all the candidates.
And this is why Gun Owners of America surveys all the candidates for Congress.  It’s why we rate Congressmen, not on what they say, but on how they vote.  It’s why we try to put a Candidate Rating into as many gun owners’ hands as we can prior to the election.

Saint Teddy?

May 4, 2010

I about fell over when I read this about the swimmer. But what are we to expect from the likes of Kerry et al?

“At a time when the American taxpayer is on the hook for trillions in current and future federal spending — when the Congressional Budget Office warns that the current rate of federal spending is ‘unsustainable’ — liberal Democrats in Congress have earmarked over $68 million of taxpayer dollars for a Boston shrine to the late Senator Edward Kennedy. In a detailed report, the Boston Herald describes the planned Edward M. Kennedy Institute as a ‘temple for Ted Kennedy built with pork.’ According to their account, congressional Democrats — especially … John Kerry and Edward Markey — have been cramming earmarks for the project into various government funding bills. The Herald found that Kerry and Markey even intend to siphon $28.9 million of the institute’s funding from the Defense Department budget, with almost $19 million of that amount already signed into law. … I believe that establishing Teddy’s Temple with millions of taxpayer dollars is meant to serve twin purposes. First, it is intended to enshrine the pretense that one’s politics is more important than any other aspect of one’s personal character. … Second, Teddy’s Temple is a means to an even broader end. That end is to elevate his liberal ideology to the status of an official, government-approved ‘ideal.’ You can be sure that the ‘good citizenship’ propagated at his shrine will translate into speeches, writings, video clips, totems, classes, and materials extolling his liberalism generally, and his advocacy of socialized medicine specifically — all paid for with your hard-earned dollars.” –columnist Robert Bidinotto

John Kerry and the IRS

June 7, 2009

Is John Kerry just a sore loser, or is this a stealth application for a slot with obama?

“The Internal Revenue Service has filed a tax lien seeking more than $800,000 from Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign, escalating a dispute over payroll taxes that the lawmaker’s office blames on faulty government paperwork,” reports The Washington Times. The campaign claims to have submitted the appropriate paperwork in 2005 and again in 2008. Spokeswoman Whitney Smith said, “The IRS contacted us last year about data they lost from the 2004 campaign. We gladly resubmitted all the forms needed to fill in the gaps, end of story.” Not exactly. The IRS lien says, “We have made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid.” The campaign denies owing anything. One thing is obvious to us: The real end game here for John Kerry is a job in the Obama administration.

Senator Kerry–Border Security “No”, Gun Control “Yes”

April 4, 2009

Well just what can you really expect from someone that put himself in for medals, then threw them away, but the medals were actually someone else’s, and also negotiated with enemy government representatives while still serving as a reserve officer in the United States Navy? John Kerry deserves to be tarred and feathered, then hung until dead, period. Not a United States Senator that is still determined to undermine and destroy the Constitution if not the United States of America. He has been in league with the international felon George Soros to that end, and now this?

With escalating drug-related violence continuing unabated in Mexico, anti-gun elected officials in Washington continue to let no tragedy go unexploited.

The latest to add his voice to the anti-gun chorus should come as a surprise to no one, as Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) has a long voting record in support of gun control.

This week, Kerry called sending National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexican border “premature and possibly counterproductive.” But Kerry had no qualms in supporting additional restrictions on law-abiding American gun owners. (

For a fleeting moment Kerry sounded a hopeful tone in his remarks in El Paso when he noted the need to “work harder to enforce existing gun laws against exporting weapons across international borders.” However, Kerry reverted to his usual anti-gun talking points as he called for a ban on imported “assault rifles” (presumably he meant semi-auto “assault weapons”) into the U.S.—a ban that has existed since 1989.

Senator Kerry is either confused about what an “assault rifle” is, is ignorant of the parameters of the existing import ban, or more likely, simply wants to expand his gun control crusade. In either case, and as noted earlier, none of this should come as a surprise from a failed presidential candidate who tried to camouflage his decades long voting record against the Second Amendment by trying to reinvent himself as a “sportsman.” Senator Kerry’s plan to stop the international trafficking of firearms into Mexico by banning legal importation of firearms into the United States simply defies logic and common sense.

American gun owners should be outraged when a sitting U.S. Senator dismisses tightening up our nation’s border security as “possibly counterproductive”, but has no qualms about passing additional restrictions that will be avoided and evaded by criminals.

The Anti-Hunting NRA?!

August 25, 2008

The American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA) is once again trying to confuse hunters into believing two bold lies:  that the NRA does not support hunting, and that AHSA and the Sierra Club do.

In a report released on August 21, AHSA makes the ridiculous argument that NRA is anti-hunting because NRA does not support the same candidates that Sierra Club and other environmental groups support. The problem is, these groups rate candidates on their radical environmental record, not on their support for hunting or for gun owners’ rights. In fact, the politicians endorsed by the Sierra Club are a “Who’s Who” of the most anti-gun politicians in American history. Gun-ban advocates like Barack Obama, John Kerry, Charles Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, Frank Lautenberg, Jack Reed, and Teddy Kennedy have all been endorsed by the Sierra Club. Since Teddy Kennedy wants to ban almost all ammunition used by hunters in America, it is impossible to see how the Sierra Club is supporting hunters by endorsing him.

Groups like the Sierra Club rate lawmakers on many issues that have nothing to do with hunters or hunting, and do not rate on some issues that do. While the Sierra Club supports massive set-asides of land under wilderness designations, they fail to consider hunter access to these lands. Wilderness designations often create problems for hunters because they do not provide for methods of access needed to actually use the land for hunting, since all improvements–including roads, trails and other changes–are prohibited. Such designations also prohibit programs to provide food and water to wildlife during times of drought. These policies are hardly good for hunters. Neither is Sierra Club support for anti-gun politicians who would end gun shows, ban guns and ammo, and support gun registration and gun licensing.

NRA knows that without our Second Amendment rights, Americans will lose our firearms to radical politicians like Obama. And without the right to own firearms, our hunting tradition will not survive. With this report, AHSA has made one thing perfectly clear: it is willing to sacrifice Second Amendment rights–and in the end, hunting in America–on the altar of its radical anti-gun agenda.

On the other hand, the NRA Political Victory Fund grades candidates first and foremost on their position on the protection of the Second Amendment, but also on their positions in support of issues relating to hunters. These issues include access to hunting lands, proper scientific management of game species, and expanding opportunities for hunters and hunting. NRA is also one of the most effective advocates for issues that truly impact hunters. Over the decades, NRA has worked hard at the federal and state level to protect and enhance our hunting heritage. NRA worked to reform federal law on migratory birdhunting. We have fought to keep federal lands open to hunting, to open more federal lands for hunters, and to protect conservation reserve programs that provide vital habitat for game species. In the states, NRA has worked for passage of youth hunting programs, for no-net-loss bills that ensure the amount of public land available to hunters is not diminished, and for increased hunter access plans like Open Fields and walk-in programs. AHSA has done none of this.

AHSA claims it is promoting “conservation,” but in truth, the groups it is endorsing are radical environmental groups. For these groups, hunting is either not a factor at all, or, at best, something to be endured but not promoted. In fact, these groups oppose hunting if it interferes with their radical agenda, as it did when it came to listing polar bears as endangered and banning the importation of polar bear trophies.

AHSA knows its report is phony, which is why it never lists any of the anti-gun politicians it is attacking NRA for not supporting. But for AHSA to mislead gun owners and hunters is nothing new. AHSA claims to be pro-gun, but in reality, they are not.

AHSA was created with the specific intent to provide political cover for anti-gun politicians by allowing them to claim support from a “sportsmen’s” group. In truth, the anti-gun credentials of AHSA’s leadership is well documented. In 2000, AHSA president Ray Schoenke donated $5,000 to Handgun Control, Inc. (now the Brady Campaign) and the Ray and Holly Schoenke Foundation also made donations to the Brady Campaign. Former AHSA Board member John Rosenthal remains the leader of Stop Handgun Violence, and has recently unveiled a new anti-gun billboard in Massachusetts attacking gun shows with misleading and untrue claims. And one of the leading organizers, and current Executive Director, of AHSA is Bob Ricker, who has been a paid expert witness against gun manufacturers in a number of reckless lawsuits. (For more information, see Anti-Gunners Don Camo As Elections Loom.)

AHSA is a front group for left-wing zealots who want to fool sportsmen into voting for anti-gun candidates by lying to them about the issues. That is why AHSA has endorsed Barack Obama and his extreme anti-gun views. That is why AHSA is now attacking NRA for failing to endorse men and women who would end most gun ownership in America, including the guns used by hunters. NRA members, and everyone who really cares about our hunting tradition, should be reassured that NRA does not, and will not ever, endorse the vast majority of radical anti-gun zealots regularly supported by the Sierra Club and AHSA.
