Puerto Rico Statehood, another threat to freedom in Wyoming

Line in the Sand

The newest “line in the sand” has been drawn, a Washington D.C. hostile takeover of your freedoms in the form of a push to make Puerto Rico a part of the Federal Union.

From the news – House Approves Puerto Rico Statehood Measure, “The House voted Thursday to allow Puerto Ricans to change the island’s commonwealth status, in what critics are saying is a backdoor attempt to force Puerto Ricans into choosing U.S. statehood…which passed 223-169 and now must be taken up by the Senate, would introduce a two-step ballot measure for Puerto Rico to decide if its residents want to change their current relationship with the United States”.

This is happening despite the incompatibility of the Constitution of this unincorporated U.S Territory, specifically the right to keep and bear arms. Unlike our Republic (a nation of Constitutional laws), Puerto Rico by a review of their Constitution and the actions of their Parliament, Puerto Rico is a Democracy (of men). Ever wondered the difference between a Republic and a Democracy, well the answers are right here. Just read on…

REPUBLIC VS. DEMOCRACY

Puerto Rico’s Constitution states it is a Democracy-
Section 19. The foregoing enumeration of rights shall not be construed restrictively nor does it contemplate the exclusion of other rights not specifically mentioned which belong to the people in a democracy. The power of the Legislative Assembly to enact laws for the protection of the life, health and general welfare of the people shall likewise not be construed restrictively.

By contrast the Wyoming Constitution clearly defines the form of government as Republic-
97-1-007 – Absolute, arbitrary power over the lives, liberty and property of freemen exists nowhere in a republic, not even in the largest majority.

Also to be noted there is no mention of the “right to keep and bear arms” in the Puerto Rican Constitution, but the Wyoming Constitution states this-
97-1-024 – The right of citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and of the state shall not be denied.

Motive – If Puerto Rico is forced into Statehood by Congress they will have a new partner to impose strict gun control in the U.S. and this backdoor attempt is just another step toward full federal control.

Nothing new here! In fact, similarly states like New York and California have become enemies to liberty in Wyoming by imposing their will in our state on issues such as land, wildlife and mining. More recently, legislation has been introduced in Washington that could alter “Water Rights” in Wyoming forever.

Obama started to circle the wagons while campaigning in Puerto Rico in 2008, as you will see in this video.

With the recently passed HealthCare Mandate and the coming Value Added Tax (VAT) and ”Cap and Trade”, it should be even more alarming that – this combined with new found allies supporting full “gun control”…Well, I believe you see the big picture.

A summary of Puerto Rico’s GUN CONTROL-

  • “FULL GUN REGISTRATION” scheme in place, “Any legal firearm…shall be registered in the registry of weapons”. You notice “legal firearm”? Once again criminals are exempt, only law abiding citizens must ask permission and register their firearms.
  • Licensing, you must ask the Government to purchase and possess firearms and ammunition.
  • Clinton style weapons ban in full force.
  • The government has the ability to seize weapons as they see fit.
  • Strict ammo purchase and possession scheme, one cannot possess ammunition for which you do not have a licensed firearm.
  • If you fail to license all of your activities including “target shooting” you are guilty of a felony and will be imprisoned.
  • BUT OF COURSE, in Puerto Rico…ALL Government officials (even the Parliament) can have special privileges to carry and possess firearms.

The Puerto Rican Government stated this about the New Weapons Act of Puerto Rico in 2000 – “By enacting this law, the State exercised its inherent power of regulation”.

It is this very thing that concerned the Founders as well as the Wyoming Legislature in 1889, “a government that CAN and WILL push to take away your inalienable rights”.

By contrast the Wyoming Constitution says this-
97-1-001 – All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety and happiness; for the advancement of these ends they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper.

I will leave you with this last thought – It has never been so important to be a “vested” member in WyGO – Wyoming Gun Owners.

Show down in Sheridan Wyoming?

April 24, 2010

I have permission to re-post anything that Anthony writes, and so I am doing just that. Due to vehicle problems I was not able to attend the meeting or I myself would probably been subjected to the same sort of treatment.

Sheridan - not so friendly

City of Sheridan hires a police chief from Detroit that breaks the law and misplaces his gun

The Sheridan police are either unable to make proper judgment calls, or they believe in extreme authority opposite of constitutionally protected rights, you decide…

It was Sunday after spending the weekend in Sheridan for the local Tea Party, we were leaving the hotel to head back home, while driving only 100 yards away, there were two police officers coming up the hill on foot carrying AR-15 rifles.

As we approached them they stopped my vehicle and the officers yelled “put up your hands” to myself, wife and my little girl, then I was ordered to step out of my vehicle. (while armed of course)

The officer demanded my I.D. to which I responded “you aren’t getting anything, I didn’t break any law”.

Sgt. Kody LambThe part that really sticks in my head is this- in one of his hands (Sgt. Kody Lamb) was an AR-15 Rifle and his other free hand shuttered like he was on an extreme adrenaline rush, I thought to myself he better keep his finger off the trigger.

I told Lamb “he had a duty to protect my rights and not act on the whim of a tourist that doesn’t know it’s legal to have firearms here”. I also asked him if he “read our Constitution”, Lamb said he was aware of what it said” then I said to him “didn’t you take an oath to uphold it?”

Then there’s this- when the officer Sgt. Kody Lamb realizes he doesn’t have a beef, he threatens me with “disturbing the peace”. To which I responded “I was on private property with the owner’s consent”, and then Sgt. Kody Lamb stated it was a place frequented by the public.

This has become the norm, for police to twist things around when they want to bully someone.

I told Lamb “I want to speak to your supervisor”, Lamb responded with “I am the supervisor”, It was at this point that I knew the Peter Principle was in play, a philosophy that in a Hierarchy “Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence”.

Why would officers respond in this manner to a “man with gun call” when their own report states about me- “is not seeming to be a threat just standing there”.

Why didn’t they ask more questions BEFORE ARRIVING, like this simple one- Has he threatened anyone?

Hell no, let’s just storm in there because we have a badge, guns and adrenaline.

Maybe this is a response to my speech at the Sheridan Tea Party, by the way when we were setting up for the event, a police officer questioned me about the way I was carrying my firearm. (holstered, cocked and locked and in plain view) I told him I always carry this way. he responded to me with “That’s not what I asked you” citing this “he had a duty to protect the public”. I later asked him how he felt about “concealed carry without a permit” like Arizona just passed into law, he said no one should be allowed to carry without a permit. Are you seeing the anti-gun police union agenda? You know the “only ones” mentality.

The next day after the incident the police refused to let me have the dispatch recordings unless, I “have a subpoena”, also I was told that the police report wouldn’t be available for a week, but apparently they handed their reports over to the local newspaper within hours of telling me otherwise. Does any of this sound suspect?
I also contacted Evidence Technician Stephen Johnson inquiring about exactly what statute they are using to deny the dispatch recordings, he has refused to return my call.

Wyoming statute states that “the person in interest” is allowed to have access to the recordings, but the the City of Sheridan would rather flex their power. The City Attorney Mia Mikesell said “she didn’t have to cite statute” to me and “it was their policy” to ask for a Subpoena, she then hung up on me.

It is these lawless Bureaucrats, Police and Attorneys that are nipping away at the Republic on a daily basis.

The question is- are we going to be silent and just let it happen?

The City of Sheridan web-site says: they have been voted #1 Western Town of the Year for its truly special qualities…“Enjoy a frontier spirit that values friendship – and independence”, really? NOT SO MUCH!

Area Citizens should call and tell them you don’t appreciate this kind of treatment and expect more from the police officers that work for “we the people”.

Tourists- call them and tell them you will skip Sheridan, tourism dollars will be spent elsewhere.

Matt Mead: Rumor Control..?

April 3, 2010

The State of Wyoming deserves better than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Matt Mead appears to be attempting to be something that he isn’t. Being a member of the N.R.A. does not mean that you do, in fact, support gun owners. What is Matt mead’s position on the abhorrent and immoral unconstitutional  Lautenberg Domestic Violence Act that made ex post facto law the law of the land? Does it mirror the N.R.A. position? That’s just one example of the N.R.A. playing politics with the rights of Americans. I myself will need to look more deeply into Matt Mead before I will cast any vote for him. At this juncture though, it appears that I will be casting my vote for someone else… What follows is posted with the authors permission, please follow the link for the entire story.

Matt Mead – rejected for governor by Wyoming Gun Owners

It appears Matt Mead has been deceptive while attempting to combat his anti-gun record as a U.S Attorney. In a recent email from the Mead campaign there was as stated a “little ditty” called “Killing the Rumor Mill” in which it states the following-

“We have added this little ditty to our email updates and will have a similar feature up on our website soon. It will be used to answer questions that come up or to kill strange email rumors. Just because you read it on the internet does not mean it is true. If you believe everything you get in an email then I have a bridge to sell you. ”.

It goes on with in Q&A format with this :

Rumor: Matt Mead does not like guns.

Fact: Matt Mead is a member of the NRA, a lifelong hunter, with a lifetime small game license. Matt is also an avid gun collector.

Maybe Mead is trying to sell us a “bridge”, because I don’t believe anyone ever said that “Mead does not like guns”, and lets be real here, being an NRA member, hunter and avid collector doesn’t make one a gun rights supporter does it?

“Maybe Mead is trying to sell us a bridge”

The NRA could be considered as a “strike” against Matt Mead. Just look at what this NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson said in support of the Clinton Gun Ban. How do you spell “elitist” gun owner?

Or, look at this state level NRA group the Wyoming State Shooting Association (WSSA) and their take on things- Wyoming’s – NRA little brother the WSSA exposes its true colors.

REAL LIFE FACT- there is documented proof that Mead has fought on the side of the BATF and against gun owners of Wyoming, PERIOD.

ANOTHER REAL LIFE FACT- Matt Mead and his VENOMOUS ANTI-GUN past will haunt him in his campaign for governor.

Concealed Carry Reform in Wyoming

March 9, 2010

While this is a step in the right direction it certainly does not go far enough, as was written about HERE, or HERE. Small victories are better than no victories. What really surprised me was that the pro epic fail obama Governor signed this. Along with his announcement last week that he will not be seeking reelection …

Concealed Carry Reform Becomes Law in Wyoming!

On Thursday, March 4, Governor Dave Freudenthal (D) signed Senate File 26 into law.  The bill is effective immediately.

Sponsored by State Senator Cale Case (R-25) and State Senator Eli Bebout (R-26), SF 26 will reform Wyoming’s concealed weapons permit laws regarding eligibility, reciprocity, and issuance of permits. This bill will limit the Attorney General’s ability to determine reciprocity by taking away his/her power to determine if that state has similar laws authorizing permits.

Please join us in thanking the sponsors of this bill, Senator Case and Senator Bebout, for all of their hard work and support.  Also please contact Governor Freudenthal to thank him for signing such important legislation into law. Contact information for the Governor can be found here.

Wyoming Alert HB 113: Constitutional Carry to be Heard on the Wyoming House Floor!

February 19, 2010

Constitutional Carry to be Heard on the Wyoming House Floor!
Please Contact Your State Legislators TODAY!

On Thursday, February 18, the House Committee of the Whole (COW) passed House Bill 113, legislation which would allow law-abiding persons to carry a concealed firearm for self-defense without a permit.  This constitutional carry bill is expected to be heard and voted on by the full House TOMORROW, February 19.  If passed, HB 113 would then be sent to the Senate for committee assignment.

HB 113 would allow those who meet the requirements currently set forth in the concealed carry permit system to carry a concealed firearm for self-defense without a permit.  This legislation addresses the current problem of a burdensome and restrictive permit system by removing the training requirement and other prohibitive barriers in Wyoming.

If signed into law, this legislation would also keep the current permit system intact for residents concerned about carrying in other states with reciprocal agreements.  Those who are currently prevented from legally carrying, be it open or concealed, will still face the same penalties should they decide to break the law.

It is critical that you contact your State Representative TODAY and respectfully urge him or her to support HB 113.  Also, please begin contacting your State Senator and urge them to not only support this important legislation but to give it their fullest attention. Contact information for you State Legislators can be found here.

King Freudenthal?

January 18, 2010

I find it nothing less than amazing when big government socialist like Bill Ritter smell the tar and see the feathers that a scant hundred miles north our own Governor pushes a similar agenda based in political correctness and leftest boot licking….

Read on;

Governor Freudenthal recently stated about Federal tax on carbon–

“There is some number out there, that you need to use to monetize carbon, to affect behavior”.

The most obvious from this statement is that Freudenthal fully supports the Washington D.C. tax and control agenda known as “Cap and Trade”.

The thought that that Wyoming residents need to have their ‘behavior’ affected by taxing, proves that Freudenthal has become part of the elite class and not one of us.

This isn’t the first time Freudenthal has used this “affect behavior” language he also did so here — Wyoming’s Governor Freudenthal to launch a persuasive building code campaign.

Since we pay taxes on purchases, income, property, vehicles, among other things, further tax and control of our lives by either the state of federal government is out of order.

Sorry King Freudenthal, in case you haven’t read the Constitution please go back and review the Magna Carter, a document in which our constitution has its roots, but it was directed at Royal Kingship. Particularly this – NO Freeman shall be taken or imprisoned, or be disseised of his Freehold, or Liberties, or free Customs, or be outlawed, or exiled, or any other wise destroyed;.

We live in the climate of this state by choice and by doing so, pay enough in heating costs, we don’t need a “tax” to affect our behavior or worst to be destroyed by taxation. We do need to affect your behavior as well as the rest of the politician of this state that have grown our government to record levels for a population of just 530,000 thousand.

On this day, we do hereby declare by this informal charter that; NO freeman be further imposed upon by frivolous taxation and control over our lives. King Freudenthal it is time that you are removed from your throne forever and always.

“White House Fires Back at Enzi” So what?

September 1, 2009

One of my Senators figured out that the people of Wyoming simply don’t want the federal government involved any more than absolutely necessary in our health care. Not to mention that if Senator Enzi goes over to the dark side it will be political suicide. So, despite the WaPo story some Senators might just have figured out that we, the people, are who they work for. Not the President…

President Obama’s spokesman accused congressional Republicans on Monday of “stepping away” from attempts to reach a bipartisan agreement on overhauling the U.S. health-care system.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs took issue with Sen. Mike Enzi’s national radio address Saturday, in which he warned that Democratic proposals would allow for the “intrusion of a Washington bureaucrat in the relationship between a doctor and a patient” and “will actually make our nation’s finances sicker without saving you money.”

Enzi (Wyo.) has been one of three Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee negotiating a possible bipartisan health-care compromise, and Gibbs called his address “tremendously unfortunate but in some ways illuminating.”

Enzi, Barrasso: loop holes threaten gun rights

Support bill to stop gun carry inconsistencies in national parks

May 6, 2009

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, both R-Wyo., are pushing to protect second amendment rights in every corner of the nation, including a corner of Wyoming – Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

Both senators are co-sponsoring the Preservation of the Second Amendment in National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges Act, S. 816, which would allow gun owners to carry concealed weapons in national parks if the concealed weapons permit holder is authorized to do so on similar state lands in the state in which the national park or refuge is located.

“The Wyoming delegation has fought to open up national parks to responsible gun owners in the past and we won that fight. While the appeal of the rule to allow guns in national parks is a small setback, the pressure to do what is right and preserve second amendment rights in and out of national parks will not stop. The Wyoming delegation is turning up the heat,” said Enzi.

“The second amendment is a cherished right, and a value we hold dear in Wyoming,” said Barrasso. “Unfortunately the courts and gun control crowd in Washington are scheming to hijack our second amendment rights.”

Representative Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.,is a co-sponsor of the House version, H.R. 1684.

In December 2008, a rule was implemented to allow concealed weapons in national parks and refuges. That rule was then challenged in court when President Obama took office and the U.S. District Court of Washington, D.C. ruled that an environmental study is needed before the new rule change can be accepted.

While the courts wait for a final decision on the environmental study Enzi and Barrasso are working to add co-sponsors to the bill to ensure Wyoming gun owners are not left in limbo.

Attack on Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Suspended

February 22, 2009

Due to an overwhelmingly negative response from gun owners both in and outside Wyoming, an attempt made earlier this week to drastically limit Wyoming’s Right-to-Carry Reciprocity statute has been suspended for the time being, once again restoring the original Right-to-Carry Reciprocity statute.

This break will allow the NRA to review the current statute and develop a plan to bring a bill before the Wyoming State Legislature during the next legislative session to ensure that this never happens again to law-abiding citizens in Wyoming.

Thank you for all of your calls and support!

I used GoA, but whatever!
