A Tale of Two Journalists : Make fun of Christians and Jews all you want, but thou shall not inflame Muslim ire.

September 24, 2010

Molly Norris used to have a life and a career in Washington, as a cartoonist for Seattle Weekly, an alternative paper. But not any longer. She has now — at the urging of the FBI — gone underground, forfeiting her identity and her job. Is Norris a criminal? No. She just had the poor judgment to draw a cartoon entitled “Everybody Draw Muhammad Day,” which led to the issuance of a fatwa — or Islamic death sentence — against her. Perhaps she had forgotten the 11th Commandment: Make fun of Christians and Jews all you want, but thou shall not inflame Muslim ire.

The fatwa was issued by imam Anwar al-Awlaki, a man The New York Times described in October 2001 as “a new generation of Muslim leader capable of merging East and West.” Al-Awlaki, who was born in the United States and headed a mosque in Virginia, is now conducting his dirty work from a hiding place in Yemen.

Barack Obama has remained silent on this matter, conspicuously so because only recently he lectured all of us on the freedoms afforded by this country. Of course that was in relation to the building of the Cordoba House mosque two blocks from Ground Zero. When it comes to the injustice that has befallen an average American like Molly Norris, he has nothing to say.

While some in the field of journalism are threatened with death for making a joke, others are rewarded for their hatred. Recall Helen Thomas, the poster child for women in journalism, who was canned after making incendiary comments at a conference celebrating Jewish heritage. Thomas’ statement that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home” to Poland, Germany, America and “everywhere else” was caught on tape so that not even leftists could defend her.

Even after her weak apology, no one would touch her with a 10-foot pole. No one, that is, except the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Next month the 90-year-old Thomas will be given a lifetime-achievement award at CAIR’s Leadership Conference & 16th Annual Fundraising Banquet in Arlington, Virginia. Clearly, her final flourish as a “journalist” was appreciated by someone.

World Hero of Solidarity?

September 21, 2010

The hero of obamanites everywhere, had this to say… Read on.

Part-time Cuban leader and full-time despot Fidel Castro gave a long overdue tip of the hat to Econ 101 when asked recently whether Cuba’s economic model was “worth exporting” to other countries. His reply: “The Cuban model doesn’t even work for us anymore.” What a shocker — not that communist/socialist/progressive models don’t work, but rather that a dyed-in-the-wool communist would actually acknowledge the truth of that statement.

Not to worry, however: No sooner had Castro uttered these words than the damage control party hopped into its East German Trabant and mobilized (read: got out and pushed). Typical statements begin, “What Comandante Castro meant to say was…” In this case, apparently the meant-to-say piece included a name change, as well: “U.S.” for “Cuban.” “The reality is that my response means exactly the opposite,” explained the ancient communista. Well of course it does! By the way, can we have our copy of Orwell’s “1984” back?

Further elaborating, World Hero of Solidarity (the title conferred upon him by the UN in 2009) stated, “My idea, as the whole world knows, is that the capitalist system now doesn’t work either for the United States or the world.” Yes, we know. The American media have done a fine job of telling us just that.

Meanwhile, el Presidente is laying off 500,000 state employees. By next March, these workers will be on the street — um, “released to the private sector” — and looking for nonexistent jobs in Cuba. With 85 percent of its workforce — or roughly five million people — working for the Cuban state, such a layoff is no small matter either. That number will eventually increase to one million due to “efforts to increase efficiency in the state sector,” making fewer new state positions available to the unemployed masses. Needless to say, massive layoffs are always symptomatic of sound economic planning in Castro’s world.

In one sense, however, Castro has hit on an important point: Our own “Comandante,” Barack Obama, continues to blur the lines between the economic models of the two nations. If the Chosen One is able to maintain his assault on the U.S. economy unabated, Castro’s statement will ultimately apply to both nations without caveat.

Remembering: The day the earth stood still 9/11

September 10, 2010

Remembering  this day… I think that perhaps the best way to honor the thirteen men that I knew, trained, and worked with might be best served by simply not posting. That is why this is an hour and fifteen minutes early. Our attention, rather, should be guided toward remembrance of those that died that day. The professionals that did their duty, and paid the ultimate price, as well as the overt victim’s.

America, as in the United States of America. Is not about bowing, even a head nod, to those that wish the destruction of Freedom and Liberty.

The “American Dream” is not about owning a home. It is not about being overpaid for the work that you do. It is not about gaining personal power. It is about having the ability to actually do those things!

Read the Declaration of Independence.

Read the Constitution.

Read the Bill of Rights.

Think about it… Being an American, philosophically is a Natural Human Right!

Time is up. I’ll post links tomorrow.

epic fail obama: even liberals are mad at him now…

September 8, 2010

Poor obama, now even demorats are mad at him! H/T to Texas Fred🙂

Epic Fail obama: Woof!

September 7, 2010

Sorry epic failure, but no, we don’t talk to you like you are a dog. Simply put, it’s the economy stupid! It’s what you and your cronies are doing to the nation. It’s what you are doing to the Constitution that you swore to uphold and defend. It’s about the Bill of Rights. It’s about the rule of law, all laws, not just the cherry picked ones that you happen to like. It’s about you paying off your cronies in the unions and other places. Like the Joyce Foundation and others.

What’s this about? Go read THIS!

Oh, and I almost forgot. Are you an illegal alien obama? Those ears make you look a lot like a Romulan…

Matt Mead: A clone of John McCain..?

August 31, 2010

The Republican nominee for Governor in Wyoming appears to be just another Republican in Name only. What the hell do we need that for?

CHEYENNE — Sen. John McCain says he is a supporter of the second amendment and proudly wears his endorsement by the NRA, even though he clearly joined gun grabber and Brady poster boy Mayor Bloomberg. You see, McCain was involved in a multi-state campaign against gun shows in an attempt to pass legislation he couldn’t get passed in his own state of Arizona.

Sadly and similarly Mead advertised he was a lifetime NRA member and gun collector and when questioned about fighting on the side of the feds in “BATF vs. Wyoming”, Mead shrugged it off as questionable information by “some blogger that refused to speak with him”. The truth is this is the first documented lie in his campaign.

As the Director of Wyoming Gun Owners I spoke with him not just once but two times. And so you know, Mead told me “he was just doing his job”. Certainly Mead wanted this withheld from the campaign trail and said anything but the truth to cover it up, so much for “integrity”.

When it comes to spending, Senator John McCain has out spent his rival spending more than $20 Million, that’s six times more than his opponent.

Again, similarly here in Wyoming Matt Mead spent a record amount of his money, a whopping 81% (that’s about $900,000) of his reported campaign finance came out of his own pocket. How do you spell D.C. style politics?

There are other similarities between Mead and McCain including statements that are designed to communicate to a more conservative base, even though past history reveals they were personally committed to a more liberal base.

Although widely unreported this moderate stance of Matt Mead is even more evident in how he was elected to office. There was an estimated “switch-voting” of up to nine thousand votes. In case you don’t know what this is, it is where Democrats changed their party affiliation at the polls so they could vote for the most liberal Republican candidate, in this case Matt Mead was the beneficiary. A Liberal state employee blogger mentions it here in – At the polls, Democrats are switching over in large numbers.

Another fact, the newspaper that endorsed Barack Obama went out of their way to stump for Matt Mead and after the elections many Democrat voters echoed the Casper Star Tribune endorsement saying, Mead would be most like Freudenthal.

Did I mention Obama-Care is now even closer?

I’m going to end with this, if the people of Wyoming want so much to keep Freudenthal and his policy of licking the boots of the federal government, why didn’t they suggest removing his term limits? I’m just saying….

U.S. Firearm Production Soars

August 22, 2010

Anti-Gun Group Shows Why The American
Way Is Better, As U.S. Firearm Production Soars

Anyone who traveled behind the Iron Curtain back in those days probably didn’t have to look very hard to find groups of “workers” sitting around doing pretty much nothing, except collecting a taxpayer-funded government paycheck.

The American way is better. Anti-gun group employees can still sit around doing pretty much nothing and collect a paycheck, but the money—lots of it—comes from donations, from foundations and individuals who share their ideals. While the rest of us have to contend with anything tangible they might produce, at least we don’t have to pay for it, most of the time.

Take the latest from the so-called Legal Community Against Violence (LCAV), a handful of gun-hater lawyers operating out of an office in San Francisco, California. Mimicking the Brady Campaign—probably not a good business plan, given that Brady Campaign is not exactly a thriving enterprise these days—LCAV is now ranking the states according to how “strong” their gun laws are.

If by any chance you are unfamiliar with the word “ludicrous,” now would be a good time to look it up in your dictionary. On the other hand, never mind, because once you go over LCAV’s pseudo-scientific poppycock, you’ll be able to write a good definition yourself.

Some examples serve to make the point. LCAV ranks California best in the nation, though its firearm-related death rate is higher than those of 16 other states, including Vermont, the gun owner-friendly laws of which LCAV ranks third worst in the nation. LCAV ranks Maryland 7th-best, just ahead of New York and Rhode Island, the firearm-related deaths rates of which are only 42 percent and 29 percent that of Maryland. Joining the declaration of ideological war by some in California against neighboring Arizona, LCAV ranks the Grand Canyon State worst in the nation.

And it goes on from there, with no correlation between LCAV’s ranking and the states’ widely divergent firearm-related death rates, no recognition of the fact that most firearm-related deaths are suicides, the frequency of which cannot be restrained by any gun control law, and no recognition of the fact that the world is still waiting for any evidence that any gun control law on the planet has ever prevented individuals or regimes from committing crime.

LCAV’s point structure for the various gun laws doesn’t even make sense. LCAV gives states four points (the maximum for any gun law) for requiring registration of all guns. We get that, since we know that gun control supporters consider registration indispensable, for purposes of enforcing a subsequent gun confiscation law. But LCAV gives almost as many points (three) for banning .50 caliber rifles (which are probably the type of gun least frequently involved in firearm deaths, or darned close), three points for requiring a dealer to be licensed (even though federal law requires that in every state anyway), and . . . well, you get the idea.

Similar to Violence to Policy Center, LCAV is especially apoplectic about “assault weapons” (three points for a ban), standard self-defense magazines that hold more than 10 rounds (three points for a ban), and anything at all to do with carrying a firearm for protection. Relative to the latter, a state gets a minus-1 point for a “shall issue” carry permit law, minus-1 for open carry without a permit, and minus-two points for concealed carry without a permit. All this malarky, with the number of carry states at an all-time high and the nation’s violent crime rate at a 35-year low.

We’re not sure how often LCAV will have the opportunity to repeat its state ranking exercise, though. One bad gun law at a time, NRA, its members, and their friends elected to state office have been eliminating gun control laws left and right for the last two decades in most states. And, Americans have responded by exercising their right to acquire arms in record numbers.

Some evidence to that effect was put forward by the BATFE recently, in the form of its report on U.S. firearm manufacturing in the first half of 2009. In the first half of 2009, U.S. manufacturers produced more rifles, more pistols, more revolvers and more shotguns, than in all of 2008. Coupled with increases in NICS checks of 11 percent between 2006 and 2007, another 14 percent between 2007 and 2008, and another 10 percent between 2008 and 2009, the evidence is pretty clear that the gun control laws LCAV wants have been on the wane, while the ones it most despises have become the norm.

Another episode of “Their back…”

August 20, 2010

The forces of anti freedom and liberty are back yet again pursuing their ultimate goal of submission of the masses to their agenda.

Read it here.

The shear stupidity of these people just never fails to astound those that think in a rational manner.

WEIS: It’s just common sense legislation. I don’t see how anyone could say this is restrictive when we’re simply asking for a background check if you’re going to buy a weapon. This is pretty simple to understand.

Thirty-three states, including Indiana, allow private dealers to sell guns to anyone without a background check.

They answer their own statement. There is a reason that thirty-three states do not agree. They also lie because if it is at a gun show, you have to be approved to exercise a “right.” This is about the outlawing of guns, and especially private sales or gifts. Hell, as it already is, I can’t “give” a firearm to my grandson legally…

Ron Micheli: Never quit, never surrender!

August 18, 2010

Well folks guess what? Even in Wyoming, yes, Wyoming! Political correctness reached out like a Copperhead… That, and the basic political machinery of our nation… There is a reason that I joined the Libertarian Party back in 1980… We need to break the back of the two party system. It is that simple folks. Sure, reform the Republicans, or even the Democrats. I don’t give a hoot what you call it…

I used to say that once in power that there was not a dimes worth of difference between the two parties. Guess what folks? I was wrong. (Typed / said with a stutter ala “The Fonz.”) I bitched at the Republicans spending like not just drunken, but stoned sailors… No, it’s not a dimes worth, it is in the trillions of dollars!

And, not to mention: While the Republicans threatened to use the Constitution as toilet paper? The Democrats have. At least the Bill of Rights!

Then, we have what happened in Wyoming, of all places..?

Keep your chin up, and hold your head high Ron. You fought the good fight.

Whew!

August 14, 2010

Well folks, I’m back, and new things will be popping up soon I am sure. Comments will be released soon.

Quick run down on the various issues and news that caught my eye as I was out learning the fine art of splitting gears and putting a truck and trailer into a small space at a Flying “J” while not crashing into “lot lizards” of varying degrees of… never mind.

But, let’s get things rolling.

Sarah Palin, is not. I repeat NOT! A founder or representative of the Taxed Enough Already movement. People like Texas Fred are, as well as many others. We are not quitters like Sarah is. Having said that, I do like the Lady. Just not for any sort of serious leadership position. What she is, is a matter of record. She quit when the things got tough. We need leaders, not quitters.

The Arizona Law. Every damned state needs to enact a similar law. Worried about discrimination? That’s a very easy fix. Anyone that gets arrested for any crime. Infraction through felony gets a citizenship check. Must be too easy for our bloated politicians to figure out. Oh, yeah, and make being an illegal a felony.

The economy: Drain Bead politicians… Has anyone else noticed that every single time some obamanite declares the “recession” over more news comes out proving the exact opposite? Ain’t it funny how trickle down economics is voodoo economics until the reverse becomes blatantly apparent? As in, you got laid off when the boss didn’t have any money to pay you with anymore..?

VICTORY!: Ummm yeah! Victory was declared by the impostor in chief in Iraq. Welcome home Brothers and Sisters.

Afghanistan: Our “war president” will continue to toss decent and honorable people under the bus. Those are Our sons and daughters people. Enough said about that.

And then there is the never ending question: Can a graphite fly rod ever have the character and soul of a Bamboo rod?

God bless one and all; Sua Sponte!
