NRA: Selling out the membership yet again!

June 15, 2010

URGENT ALERT: NRA cuts deals to limit free speech

Three prominent Washington D.C. websites are reporting what many capitol insiders warned of: the National Rifle Association has made a deal with the devil (i.e. anti-gun Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid) to limit the free speech of Americans in exchange for their carved-out exemption.

While some pro-gun rights advocates may think free speech does not matter or that nothing another gun advocacy group does should ever be questioned, the National Association for Gun Rights and I take a very different view.

Without the right to free speech, we are defenseless in the battle to save our Second Amendment rights.

Let me be clear: restricting our First Amendment rights is the first step to stripping us of our Second Amendment rights, and should be resisted at every turn.

We don’t care who you are or what an organization may have done in the past – we only care about whether your actions will promote or harm our rights.

And frankly, this craven deal by the NRA will damage our gun rights and our free speech rights.  After you read up on the facts, I ask you to give the NRA an earful by calling 1-800-672-3888 and insist they renounce the deal with Pelosi and Reid. Believe me, it is not too late if you will get involved.

Though at first objecting to the DISCLOSE Act, which would radically limit the free speech of organizations and thus, gun owners, the NRA has now agreed to an exemption for their organization (and other mammoth, mostly liberal, organizations like AARP and probably Moveon.org) in exchange for support of the Democrats’ bill.

This legislation would place draconian limitations on the ability of organizations to voice their opinions on politicians, and by extension, their legislation.  The chilling effect on free speech would be difficult to overstate.

Along with their tacit endorsement of Senator Harry Reid, the NRA is signaling that they trust the Democrats will spare the Second Amendment from further assaults.

But that’s a strategy of appeasement, and to put it bluntly, it’s insane. It just delays the inevitable.

Winston Churchill addressed this strategy when he said “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”

Background:

This is not the only time the NRA has cut a deal to harm gun owners and gun rights in the glare of an anti-gun media frenzy.

Just a three years ago, the NRA joined with arch gun-hater Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) to pass H.R. 2640, the Veteran’s Disarmament Act.  When gun control advocates saw the Virginia Tech shootings as an opportunity to pass gun control, the NRA immediately signed the documents of surrender and actively lobbied Congress to pass legislation that will disarm tens of thousands of Americans, including veterans.

Why did they do that? Frankly, they were more concerned with what the media and Washington power-bosses were saying than their loyal-to-a-fault members.

Similarly in 2004 when, desperate to pass the Firearms Manufacturers’ Lawsuits Protection bill, the NRA dangled a re-authorization of the Clinton Assault Weapons ban in front of hungry politicians.  The deal was going to be that if anti-gun politicians voted for the Lawsuit Protection bill, the NRA would not oppose re-authorization of the sun-setting Clinton Gun Ban.

Thankfully, a coalition of groups led by the National Association for Gun Rights joined together to kill that deal by exposing it to the light of honest gun owners across this nation… just like we are doing now.  In that fight, after a few weeks of excuses and covering their tracks, the NRA backed off of the deal, the Lawsuit Protection Bill still passed and the Clinton Gun Ban ended.

What can you do?

Tell the NRA you’ve had enough, and urge them to kill the DISCLOSE Act, not cut a deal to pass it.  Call them at 1-800-672-3888 today, as it may be too late tomorrow.

Ron Micheli for governor endorsed by state sovereignty advocate

June 9, 2010

Ron Micheli has picked up the endorsement from former Sheriff Richard Mack a State Sovereignty Advocate.

This comes as most are starting to take notice of Micheli as a solid defender of State Sovereignty, specifically the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

According to a press release from the Micheli campaign-
“The reason I’m supporting Ron is that he understands the issues that really are pertinent to the state of Wyoming, and first and foremost is State sovereignty”
– Sheriff Richard Mack

Colin Simpson’s campaign manager speaks out

May 20, 2010

In a recent letter to the editor of the Wyoming Tribune, Joe Milczewski manager for the Simpson campaign has come out against the notion that the Democrats have their pick in Colin Simpson.

Unfortunately he neglects the fact that the Chairman of the Democratic Party Gwen Hamilton, virtually endorsed Colin Simpson on the Simpson’s own campaign web-site.

Simpson’s campaign manager defended the actions of the Democratic Chairman by calling them “Reagan Democrats”. While probably wise to thank them for their support, this spin actually reaffirms the intent of Simpson to pander for votes.

Being the Speaker of the House, Simpson has been relatively quiet during the recent uproar in support of blocking Obama Care in Wyoming. Since there was a mandate from the Democrat Party to block the Healthcare Freedom legislation these actions from the Simpson Campaign could be a defining moment in his run for governor.

Hearing all this talk about these “Blue Dogs” and “Reagan Democrats” here in Wyoming mirrors the tactics used by the Democrats during the healthcare debacle in Washington, to hear the same rhetoric from a “Republican” Gubernatorial candidate may not go over too well with conservative voters.

Simpson’s campaign manager goes on to suggest that “Simpson unites people”. I believe we heard the same exact thing during the Obama campaign, and we all know how that’s how that working out?

More political blather about being conservative could only weaken Simpsons defense, Since Wyoming’s government has grown to record size under his leadership.

Just “politics as usual” and recycled rhetoric coming out of Simpson’s campaign, is that what we can expect from Simpson as the Governor of Wyoming?

Matt Mead for Governor, Star Tribunes latest praise spells caution

May 19, 2010

Matt Mead for Governor

From a Casper Star Tribune opinion – Mead could follow in Freudenthal’s footsteps :

“In a crowded GOP gubernatorial primary, Matt Mead is the candidate who most reminds us of the states current Democratic governor, Dave Freudenthal”

It seems that the Casper Star Tribune has named their pick for Governor. I must say if you’re looking for a liberal leaning candidate you might have to agree with them.

As a former U.S. Attorney, Mead would be the most likely candidate to side with the Feds, JUST LIKE Dave Freudenthal.

The Star-Tribune goes on to praise Matt Mead even lifting him up to Freudenthal’s pedestal, on more than one occasion.

The Red Flag – when the most liberal, anti-gun rag in the state virtually endorses Mead, I believe it sends a strong message to the voters, here it comes…

CAUTION! – Matt Mead another Freudenthal for Governor!!!

no rinos

The Casper Star Tribune also goes on to say –“Mead is well qualified for the job. In addition to serving as a federal prosecutor, where he had to make decisions that he noted involved ‘life, liberty and property’”.

On this point Mead is right, “he was involved with such decisions”, but what Mead and the Trib fail to tell you is, Matt Mead was on the WRONG SIDE of the decisions. Mead actually fought against gun rights and state sovereignty in one flailing swoop.

When I questioned Mead on this, all he had to say was…

“You should see my gun collection”…and …I was just doing my job”.

Neither of which qualifies Mead to be at the helm of the Independent State of Wyoming.

Remember like Mead the Nazi soldiers also “had gun collections” and claimed “they were also just doing their job” while throwing corpses in the trenches.

FACT – When given a choice to protect the state of Wyoming or take the money and fight AGAINST IT, Mead took the money as shown in the case Wyoming vs. BATF. Honestly, the group I hang with would rather die than fight for the gungrabbers.

Despite the truth of the court case which is on the Brady Anti-Gun Campaign web-site, Mead has spoke out saying- “Do not to believe anything on the internet”. Also at events in Sheridan and Cheyenne, Mead stated that “Some blogger is spreading lies”. Mead also said that this blogger (apparently me) wouldn’t meet with him, as if we never spoke with each other. Here’s the rub: it is certainly disingenuous of Mead since we have had two phone conversations about his Venomously Anti-Gun Record.

Further, Meads Campaign Manager Bill Novotny “got in my face” at an event in Cheyenne saying to me – “you must work for someone”, he was apparently attempting to stifle me but, these establishment style tactics are nothing more than a case of “we can’t dispute the message, so let’s kill the messenger”.

More rhetoric comes as if to say Mead isn’t pandering to the Democrats, Novotny said “he hasn’t heard of any Democrats supporting Mead”, really! Everyone else knows except Novotny, Mead’s Campaign Manager?

Again just “POLITICS AS USUAL” coming out of the Mead Campaign.

Is this what Wyoming needs, a Governor that reminds us of Freudenthal? I don’t think so.

Police State legislation, S.3081 introduced by McCain and Scott Brown

April 25, 2010

Stolen from Anthony Bouchard, with permission.

City of Sheridan hires a police chief from Detroit that breaks the law and misplaces his gun

IRS purchases firearms and uses them for government greed

Danger Ahead, more power is being ordered up from Congress.

You say, “I know, I see this every day”. But this one fits right into the category- “the more I learn of my government, the more I love my guns”.

And now that I have said that, I guess this legislation could be used against me.

This should scare the hell out of you!

More cries of “there are terrorists out there”, but it’s the same old – take more rights away from you and me.

This legislation will allow the federal government to detain ANYONE, ANYWHERE (yes even you), bypassing constitutional judicial safeguards on the whim of the executive branch or agency designated thereof.

It’s as if federal legislation like Real ID (Dangerous ID) and the Patriot Act somehow doesn’t give them enough power. Are you getting the big picture?

In case you weren’t watching, Bush signed the Patriot Act into law and Obama extended it. This is how big government works, for it’s own goals.

Instead of repealing laws that stomp on our rights, once again the GOP is leading the way to further trample the Constitution.

S.3081 the Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010 – introduced by Sen. John McCain and Massachusetts Tea Party pick Scott Brown, yes it didn’t take Brown long to show his true statist colors, did it?

This is why Wyoming Citizens must demand a backbone from our state legislature, to stand up and fight by passing state legislation that says NO MORE!

The State Legislature could very well be our real “last hope” to stop the power hungry oozing bile in D.C. from taking every last constitutional protection away from Citizens.

On a local level this Police State legislation is generally favored by Law Enforcement Officials like – Sheridan Police Chief Richard Adriaens and his cronies at the Police Union, to be specific Byron Oedekoven of the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police.

You may want to read this article – What Police State Legislation Looks Like, where it states this: “These politicians know that the public is angry. They also know that other politicians don’t like to speak against a bill that’s “tough on terrorists,” even when the bill’s language is absurdly broad”.

Open Carry Redefined?
In this legislation there is reference to the Geneva Convention and insurgents – “in a manner which satisfies Article 5 of the Geneva Convention” which points to artice 4 that states the following:“Volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfill the following conditions…that of carrying arms openly”.

Does that mean being at an open-carry rally or with a group of open-carriers consisting of two or more could label you as a “Enemy Belligerent”?

Here are a few excerpts from this DANGEROUS LEGISLATION:

An individual, including a citizen of the United States, determined to be an unprivileged enemy belligerent…may be detained without criminal charges and without trial…Whenever within the United States, its territories, and possessions, or outside the territorial limits of the United States…

…matters as the President considers appropriate…

The operations and activities of high-value detainee interrogation groups under this section shall be governed by such regulations and guidance as the President shall establish for purposes of implementing this section…

An individual who may be an unprivileged enemy belligerent and who is initially captured or otherwise comes into the custody or under the effective control of the United States by an intelligence agency of the United States may be held, interrogated, or transported by the intelligence agency and placed into military custody for purposes of this Act if retained by the United States within a reasonable time after the capture or coming into the custody or effective control by the intelligence agency, giving due consideration to operational needs and requirements to avoid compromise or disclosure of an intelligence mission or intelligence sources or methods…

Each interagency team under this subsection shall be composed of such personnel of the Executive Branch having expertise in matters relating to national security, terrorism, intelligence, interrogation, or law enforcement as the President considers appropriate. The members of any particular interagency team may vary depending on the skills most relevant to a particular case…

Waiver of your Miranda Rights:

…shall not, during interrogation under this subsection, be provided the statement required by Miranda v. Arizona (384 U.S. 436 (1966)) or otherwise be informed of any rights that the individual may or may not have to counsel or to remain silent consistent with Miranda v. Arizona…

I have said this time and time again – “It’s going to take gun owners to take up the political fight”, we can no longer stand by and let them dismantle our country!

Show down in Sheridan Wyoming?

April 24, 2010

I have permission to re-post anything that Anthony writes, and so I am doing just that. Due to vehicle problems I was not able to attend the meeting or I myself would probably been subjected to the same sort of treatment.

Sheridan - not so friendly

City of Sheridan hires a police chief from Detroit that breaks the law and misplaces his gun

The Sheridan police are either unable to make proper judgment calls, or they believe in extreme authority opposite of constitutionally protected rights, you decide…

It was Sunday after spending the weekend in Sheridan for the local Tea Party, we were leaving the hotel to head back home, while driving only 100 yards away, there were two police officers coming up the hill on foot carrying AR-15 rifles.

As we approached them they stopped my vehicle and the officers yelled “put up your hands” to myself, wife and my little girl, then I was ordered to step out of my vehicle. (while armed of course)

The officer demanded my I.D. to which I responded “you aren’t getting anything, I didn’t break any law”.

Sgt. Kody LambThe part that really sticks in my head is this- in one of his hands (Sgt. Kody Lamb) was an AR-15 Rifle and his other free hand shuttered like he was on an extreme adrenaline rush, I thought to myself he better keep his finger off the trigger.

I told Lamb “he had a duty to protect my rights and not act on the whim of a tourist that doesn’t know it’s legal to have firearms here”. I also asked him if he “read our Constitution”, Lamb said he was aware of what it said” then I said to him “didn’t you take an oath to uphold it?”

Then there’s this- when the officer Sgt. Kody Lamb realizes he doesn’t have a beef, he threatens me with “disturbing the peace”. To which I responded “I was on private property with the owner’s consent”, and then Sgt. Kody Lamb stated it was a place frequented by the public.

This has become the norm, for police to twist things around when they want to bully someone.

I told Lamb “I want to speak to your supervisor”, Lamb responded with “I am the supervisor”, It was at this point that I knew the Peter Principle was in play, a philosophy that in a Hierarchy “Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence”.

Why would officers respond in this manner to a “man with gun call” when their own report states about me- “is not seeming to be a threat just standing there”.

Why didn’t they ask more questions BEFORE ARRIVING, like this simple one- Has he threatened anyone?

Hell no, let’s just storm in there because we have a badge, guns and adrenaline.

Maybe this is a response to my speech at the Sheridan Tea Party, by the way when we were setting up for the event, a police officer questioned me about the way I was carrying my firearm. (holstered, cocked and locked and in plain view) I told him I always carry this way. he responded to me with “That’s not what I asked you” citing this “he had a duty to protect the public”. I later asked him how he felt about “concealed carry without a permit” like Arizona just passed into law, he said no one should be allowed to carry without a permit. Are you seeing the anti-gun police union agenda? You know the “only ones” mentality.

The next day after the incident the police refused to let me have the dispatch recordings unless, I “have a subpoena”, also I was told that the police report wouldn’t be available for a week, but apparently they handed their reports over to the local newspaper within hours of telling me otherwise. Does any of this sound suspect?
I also contacted Evidence Technician Stephen Johnson inquiring about exactly what statute they are using to deny the dispatch recordings, he has refused to return my call.

Wyoming statute states that “the person in interest” is allowed to have access to the recordings, but the the City of Sheridan would rather flex their power. The City Attorney Mia Mikesell said “she didn’t have to cite statute” to me and “it was their policy” to ask for a Subpoena, she then hung up on me.

It is these lawless Bureaucrats, Police and Attorneys that are nipping away at the Republic on a daily basis.

The question is- are we going to be silent and just let it happen?

The City of Sheridan web-site says: they have been voted #1 Western Town of the Year for its truly special qualities…“Enjoy a frontier spirit that values friendship – and independence”, really? NOT SO MUCH!

Area Citizens should call and tell them you don’t appreciate this kind of treatment and expect more from the police officers that work for “we the people”.

Tourists- call them and tell them you will skip Sheridan, tourism dollars will be spent elsewhere.

The impostor in chief a “cowboy?”

April 7, 2010

The impostor in chief may be a lot of things, and most of them are diametrically opposed to what the Iranian idiot, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad characterized him as recently.

“American materialist politicians, whenever they are beaten by logic, immediately put their finger on the trigger like cowboys,” he said.

“Mr. Obama, you are a newcomer (to politics). Wait until your sweat dries and get some experience. Be careful not to read just any paper put in front of you or repeat any statement recommended,” Ahmadinejad said in the speech, aired live on state TV. “(American officials) bigger than you, more bullying than you, couldn’t do a damn thing, let alone you.”

SOURCE

The madman from Iran land needs to stop watching spaghetti westerns, that much is clear. The obama clearly does not support the things that are considered to be “cowboy” traits. He has gun control ideas that no cowboy would ever consider. Cowboys consider proper gun control to be able to consistently hit the intended target. Not disarmament and the associated willingness to be a victim. Cowboys admire independence and self reliance. Not government handouts or obamacare. Cowboys “stand by the brand,” as in supporting their friends come hell or high water. Not like the obama’s treatment of our closest allies.

Lastly Mister President? Your choice of words is amusing to say the least. Should things ever get from push to shove you just might get a message from “The Cowboy State.”

Matt Mead: Rumor Control..?

April 3, 2010

The State of Wyoming deserves better than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Matt Mead appears to be attempting to be something that he isn’t. Being a member of the N.R.A. does not mean that you do, in fact, support gun owners. What is Matt mead’s position on the abhorrent and immoral unconstitutional  Lautenberg Domestic Violence Act that made ex post facto law the law of the land? Does it mirror the N.R.A. position? That’s just one example of the N.R.A. playing politics with the rights of Americans. I myself will need to look more deeply into Matt Mead before I will cast any vote for him. At this juncture though, it appears that I will be casting my vote for someone else… What follows is posted with the authors permission, please follow the link for the entire story.

Matt Mead – rejected for governor by Wyoming Gun Owners

It appears Matt Mead has been deceptive while attempting to combat his anti-gun record as a U.S Attorney. In a recent email from the Mead campaign there was as stated a “little ditty” called “Killing the Rumor Mill” in which it states the following-

“We have added this little ditty to our email updates and will have a similar feature up on our website soon. It will be used to answer questions that come up or to kill strange email rumors. Just because you read it on the internet does not mean it is true. If you believe everything you get in an email then I have a bridge to sell you. ”.

It goes on with in Q&A format with this :

Rumor: Matt Mead does not like guns.

Fact: Matt Mead is a member of the NRA, a lifelong hunter, with a lifetime small game license. Matt is also an avid gun collector.

Maybe Mead is trying to sell us a “bridge”, because I don’t believe anyone ever said that “Mead does not like guns”, and lets be real here, being an NRA member, hunter and avid collector doesn’t make one a gun rights supporter does it?

“Maybe Mead is trying to sell us a bridge”

The NRA could be considered as a “strike” against Matt Mead. Just look at what this NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson said in support of the Clinton Gun Ban. How do you spell “elitist” gun owner?

Or, look at this state level NRA group the Wyoming State Shooting Association (WSSA) and their take on things- Wyoming’s – NRA little brother the WSSA exposes its true colors.

REAL LIFE FACT- there is documented proof that Mead has fought on the side of the BATF and against gun owners of Wyoming, PERIOD.

ANOTHER REAL LIFE FACT- Matt Mead and his VENOMOUS ANTI-GUN past will haunt him in his campaign for governor.

What next..?

March 22, 2010

The dog and pony show that has become what the Congress resembles much more than an august body of statesmen displayed the arrogance of Lairds over serfs yesterday. Certainly not all of them, but the majority did. It provided a crystal clear explanation of what happens when mob rule, also known as democracy, over takes and trounce’s a constitutional republic.

What next? Certainly the people will expect that legal challenges to the assault on freedom and liberty will take their course. I myself, having watched the Supreme Court duck and waver in many recent cases, if not flat-out ignore the Constitution have little faith in the third branch to do what is right and moral.

What we are left with then is send the abusers of power packing in November. Then repealing the entire monstrosity with a veto proof majority vote. That will be difficult to say the least. We will have to live with this at least for the time being.

Then, there is the bigger question. What was slipped in while no one was watching? Using what has become known as  “Lautenberging?” More ex post facto law? More sexist mysandry? More back door gun control? More sweetheart deals for those that were willing to sell their honor? Punishments for those that maintained their integrity? The devils are always in the details, and I would not put it past Pelosi, Schumer, Lautenberg and any number of aspiring despots to have slipped in things that are clearly beyond that which Congress is authorized to do.

Make no mistake friends, what happened yesterday was the shattering of the Bill of Rights, and the prelude to dismantling the Constitution in its entirety.

I would like to thank both of my Senators, Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, and our lone Representative Cynthia Lummis for standing firm, and not selling out the people of this nation, and honoring the oath that they took upon taking office.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

More epic fail obama: Surrender to the invaders

March 19, 2010

The impostor in chief, along with the usual suspects is steaming full throttle toward handing over the nation to the invaders. Nothing new about that of course. Remember, epic fail obamacare isn’t the only issue out there.

President Barack Obama promised to make overhauling the immigration system a top priority in his first year as president. He’s now in Year Two, and the odds that he’ll get to sign a bill before the November midterm elections appear long.

Grass-roots activists are frustrated by the wait for a new system and are organizing a rally Sunday on the National Mall by what they hope will be thousands of people from across the country loudly voicing their displeasure at the pace of action.

SOURCE

“Grass roots activists” are  liable to run headlong into American activists over this, and yes, I will not rule out violence. All too many Americans have had their lives utterly shattered by these so-called “immigrants.” People are fed up with having their lives destroyed by people that refuse to follow our laws but demand to have all of the rights and privileges that so many people, from all races and nations have fought and died for.

Want to be an American? Great! I’m all for having new people come here, and become a part of this once great nation. Just do it according to our laws…
